January 11, 200916 yr Fergie's comments in response to Rafa's were just laughable. I was expecting something much more witty, so either he just didn't know what to say, or he's been on the whisky too much. He didn't rise to it, he evaded the question in hand. There's no need for him to get drawn into it now, it's Liverpool on the back foot so to speak after today. I'm sure if Chelsea would've won today there would've been a very different planned response to Rafa's 'facts' from Fergie, something to get inside Raf's head. Cause let's face it when it comes to mind games in the Prem there's only been Jose Mourinho that's even come close to Fergie in the past few years.

Cause let's face it when it comes to mind games in the Prem there's only been Jose Mourinho that's even come close to Fergie in the past few years. He didn't know what to say though exactly. That was the weird thing. I know he said he wasn't gonna comment, but he kinda did. He stutterd with what he was saying, started to lay into Rafa, then went back on his word. I think he was wise not to say anything, as the media would blow it out of proportion which they normally do, and like the did with Benitez, but it does say something when even Alan Shearer comes out and says he agrees that Fergie gets the rub of the mill. I'm sure if Man Utd didn't get 3 points against Chelsea he'd have started WW3 with the corner incident. I'm not sure why, but refs don't like them. Liverpool have tried it before and they got caught off. I don't think what Rafa can really play mind-games either. Maybe he will in a few months if things are still tight, but what Rafa said was not a direct response to what Fergie said, as it was planned and well executed imo for someone who doesn't has English as his mother tounge.
January 11, 200916 yr If Man Utd beat Wigan on Wednesday and then Bolton on Saturday Liverpool will be second when they play Everton on Monday. If they are then Rafa will look even more of a tit! Haven't seen any of the game yesterday but judging from what i've read off various forums we were awful. I disagree with RFC's comments about some of the players aren't good enough. Sure they may have not been good yesterday, but at times this season Benayoun and Lucas have been brilliant. And Hyypia is just the sex. Consistency levels aren't always there, but it's been like that for all the top teams so far this season. Never thought i'd say this at the beginning of the season but Alonso is just as important to Reina, Gerrard and Torres to our title challenge. Maybe they are ok (but I certainly don't rate them) but they're nothing on what Man Utd have. They have far far more strength in depth than Liverpool have. They bring in the likes of Evans, O'Shea, Fletcher and Park and I think they're so much better than what Liverpool have. Last nights game was the fourth domestic Liverpool game I've watched this season and I'd say your key player isn't Torres, or even Gerrard, but Alonso, I certainly agree with you there. You missed him so much against Stoke, there was almost zero creativitiy coming from the midfield pairing and not enough from the wings. Compare that performance to the one vs Preston a week before and Alonso really is key. It didn't surprise me at all that Preston came back a bit in the second half once Lucas was on for Alonso. And ket's not forget, Rafa was going to flog Alonso in the summer! I think Man Utd will win the Premiership with ease this year. I just can't see past them at all. Chelsea have no width and badly lack creativity. Arsenal are miles behind, Villa aren't looking for it and Liverpool just aren't good enough. To emphasise the point on depth just look at Utd's bench today compared to Liverpool's. Kuszczak, O'Shea, Carrick, Anderson, Scholes, Welbeck, Tevez vs Cavieleri, Dossena, Babel Plessis, El Zhar, Keane and Torres (who let's face it, isn't normally there). Liverpool had Degen, Arbeloa, Agger and Alonso out. Man Utd had Rafael, Brown, Ferdinand, Hargreaves and Nani. There's just no competition. At all. Edited January 11, 200916 yr by RabbitFurCoat
January 11, 200916 yr Author Yes Man Utd have the best strength in depth, but I think Liverpool have good strenth in depth too. Certainly an improvement on what it has been in recent years. Yes we'll be 2nd IF Man Utd win against Bolton and Wigan but that's only 1 point. All it takes is one slip up, or a defeat against Arsenal or Liverpool at Old Trafford then it's thrown a spanner in the works. Man Utd are weaker than they were last season as well imo. Scholes, Giggs and Neville are getting older. Van Der Saar is not looking as much like the invincible he once was. The replacements in Anderson and Nani aren't looking as good (from what i've seen) and God knows why Fergie keeps on playing Berbatov over Tevez. Tevez is twice the player Berbatov. Again call it bias but I think it will go down right to the wire. Last season we were 'nothing' without Torres yet he's played 10 league games this season and we're top of the league! And we have Insua out. He's looked the part in the run of games of late when we really hit form over Christmas.

I don't know what game you watched yesterday but Berbatov was absolutely instrumental to us winning the game! He's good at picking up the passes and he's second to none for composed finishing! (he set up one goal and scored one yesterday for example!) I'd play Tevez a bit more but the fact is he's very similar to Rooney and if all of Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez and Berbatov were 100% fit and I had to leave one out I'd do the same as Fergie and leave Tevez out. As Everton don't have Fellaini I'm not sure how they're gonna play now so I think you'll win the derby personally anyway.

Well I don't match Man Utd at all really, but i'd play Tevez or Berbatov anyday. I know both are quite similar, but they did fine last year. it's like for Liverpool, Keane's been instrumental in winning some games for us (like against Man Utd) but he's been pretty $h!t for the most part. Same goes for Berbatov too. I'd expect Liverpool to beat Everton anyway but you never know with derby games. All form goes out the window. They'll be fired up as much as we will be, but hopefully Torres will be fit to start and we'll just tear them to pieces. I'm hoping we play 4-4-2 as well, as they've got nothing up front so I don't see the need for 2 holding midfielders personally.
January 12, 200916 yr  The title race won't be over for a long time yet imo. I only managed to catch the last 40 minutes of the game, but Chelsea were f***ing abysmal. They were pretty poor before Deco went off, but after Deco went off they just lost all balance of play. They played with no confidence, and it's gonna be tough for them to get back into the title race now. Liverpool have a tough set of games on paper, so we'll see what happens come the middle of February, but i'm still fairly confident as Man Utd will have to beat Wigan and Bolton. Haven't seen any of the game yesterday but judging from what i've read off various forums we were awful. I disagree with RFC's comments about some of the players aren't good enough. January 13, 200916 yr once we go top on saturday, does anything else really need to be said? i don't think so.. there's only one team in this title race, and it's certainly not you Cristiano Ronaldo signs 2009/10 agreement with Real Madrid :smoke: :smoke: Interesting to see that the World's Best Player wants to sign for (to use his words in the summer of 2008) "The best side in the world". No wonder the "Glasgow Beetroot from Planet Taggart" (© Danny Baker) has not been happy lately.
January 13, 200916 yr English, European & World Champions the world's best football club and pal, Real Madrid signed Ronaldo in 2007.......... and he's playing for us.. did we loan him for a few seasons?
January 13, 200916 yr English, European & World Champions the world's best football club and pal, Real Madrid signed Ronaldo in 2007.......... and he's playing for us.. did we loan him for a few seasons? Guillem Balague's website was the first to reveal that David Beckham was going to go to Real Madrid not Barcelona like most experts said in 2003. Guillem Balague's website was the first to reveal that Ruud Van Nistelrooy was going to go to Real Madrid from Manchester United in March 2006 four months before Alex Ferguson confirmed he would be leaving the club. Guillem Balague's website was the first to reveal that Fernando Torres was going to go to Liverpool from Athletico Madrid in June 2007 despite denials from the Athletico chairman saying no such deal had been done. It subsequently turned out that Guillem Balague's site was correct and the Atletico chairman had been passing on misinformation. Oh & lastly Guillem Balague's website said in the summer of 2008 during the Europan Championships that there was no way that Cristiano Ronaldo would be joining Real Madrid from Manchester United as it was just a mutual ploy to appease the Real supporters, undermine Manchester United & an attempt to gain Cristiano Ronaldo a better deal at Manchester United despite the majority of journalists saying otherwise. :smoke:
January 13, 200916 yr mate, if you could play United or Real Madrid in the CL final, who would you choose? it's a no brainer with or without Ronaldo we're the World's greatest club mention Manchester United anywhere in the world and get a response that matches upto our greatness
January 14, 200916 yr I ain't bothered tbh, he's not as important as some people think he is. If he starts off all this crap again in the summer and Real Madrid offer a stupid amount of money they don't have yet again then I'd take it. If this was Rooney going then it'd be a whole different story let me tell you that! This is Sir Alex Ferguson we're talking about so if this is done behind his back he'll walk out but if he HAS approved of it then he's doing it because he's got something else up his sleeve that's just as good if not better. Remember when our world was apparently crumbling when this man called David Beckham left? Well that's when Ronaldo came in and look what happened? :) However if Ronaldo stayed then I'd have no doubt he'll overtake Theirry Henry and be remembered as the greatest foreign player to play in the Premier League or even the greatest football player in the world, ever!
January 14, 200916 yr Author I don't think Ronaldo has a chance of ever being the greatest player in the world, let alone the greatest player to play in the Premier League! I would say 90% of the fans from other football teams thinks he's a greaseball c**t. I know I do. Good player I agree, but I don't get all the bum love over him from pundits and the media? Even quite a lot of the Manchester United fans I know don't agree either. He scored a lot of goals yes, but he does play as a SS and a lot of his goals were from penalties and free-kicks. If he goes then I think it will upset Man Utd, as their whole game most of the time is based around Ronaldo, but still, they'd have a lot of money to be able to replace him, even if the Glazers will want to keep a large sum of it to help with the recession...

January 14, 200916 yr Author he is world player of the year... so how've you come up with that logic? I meant as in the best player EVER.
January 14, 200916 yr Bergkamp > Zola > Henry > Cantona > Ronaldo LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL cantona won 5 epl's, 2 fa cups and 4 charity sheilds between 91-97 if that's not greatness, i don't know what is
January 14, 200916 yr Less than Phil Neville then.... I'm too young to remember Cantona properly, maybe I should've keft him off the list.... Bergkamp and Zola are without doubt the best players I've ever seen, would've loved to have seen Bergkamp in the flesh.
