Posted June 14, 200619 yr Virgin Music news Indie singers put in their place Up-and-coming singer Lily Allen has launched a scathing attack on indie favourites The Kooks and Dirty Pretty Things. In a blog on her Myspace page, Keith Allen's daughter had a pop at The Kooks singer Luke Pritchard and dished out some unkind words for Dirty Pretty Things frontman Carl Barat after filming a TV show with them last week. She said: "I went to school with Luke from The Kooks. I thought he was quite cool then. "I was quite annoyed at how much of a bad man he thinks he is, there is no excuse for wearing broken straw hats and dark sunglasses (two storeys underground of Alexandra Palace) while strumming your guitar like you're treating everyone to an exclusive showcase for your next album." She added: "Carl Barat is obviously convinced he is God or something, though the other two guys (who weren't in the Libertines) seemed alright. "Carl didn't make eye contact with anyone, not that I could see anyway (and they have ORGANIC sliced bread on the rider)." The catty singer concluded: "Boys your regurgitated indie rock days are numbered so get over yourselves."
June 14, 200619 yr She should at least wait until she actually sells some records before getting so up herself. Dirty Pretty Things will be around for quite a long time I'm sure ^_^ infact this time next week I will be standing in Hyde Park just as they come off stage and will then be waiting for The Strokes. :D
June 14, 200619 yr Author If she is lucky she is going to be this generation's Wendy James (Transvision Vamp). :D Her new single is quite good, but slagging off indie music as well as previous insults at Chris Martin, Bono, Bob Geldof & Paul McCartney suggests that she is the next Charlotte Church (minus the good singing voice).

June 14, 200619 yr Everyone seems to be having a go at Luke from The Kooks ATM :( has alright taste in women
June 17, 200619 yr I wonder if they'll answer back? Better yet what will her response to them answering her back be? I bet it'll be along the lines of: 'Yeah but, no but, yeah but, no but.... am I boverred?!?!'
June 17, 200619 yr The Spawn of Keith Allan has got some fukkin' nerve having a go at anyone.....  I'm not a huge fan of DPT or The Kooks (DPT write decent enough tunes, unfortunately Ray Davies wrote them all 30-odd years before Carl Barat did... , The Kooks are kind of irritating it has to be said...), but I reckon if I had to choose who I'd rather listen to, or who I think is more likely to still be around at this time next year......
June 17, 200619 yr Lily Allen is amazing. Smile will easily be number one  The only thing that may stop it is if En-ger-land win the world cup...
June 17, 200619 yr Lily Allen is amazing. Smile will easily be number one  The only thing that may stop it is if En-ger-land win the world cup... well think it would be good for the Lightning Seeds to get to number one if they do, then replaced by this. nice and summery
June 19, 200619 yr I agree with Lily. She actually also said that the Klaxons were good, so it wasn't just a big rant against male indie bands. The Kooks are the most overrated thing since the Libertines, so it's nice to see them getting an early backlash, and Dirty Pretty Things are just completely unnecessary.
