A NEW LOOK MINISTRY OF SOUND RE-LAUNCHES 23rd/24th JANUARY –

BIGGER AND BETTER THAN EVER!

You may well have noticed that there is a mysterious gap in our January listings between the 1st and 23rd. This is not a mistake!

We are in fact closing our beloved Ministry of Sound for a New Year facelift; for three intensive weeks a crack team of builders and architects will be taking over the Club to make big improvements to our courtyard (once finished it’ll be the best smoking area in London!), transform our entrance tunnel (we’re promising the ultimate welcoming experience) and create a fresh new dance space aptly named ‘LOFT’ upstairs in the old Lounge complete with a state of the art Martin Audio sound system.

Over in The Box we’re upgrading the final peace in the puzzle - the processing side of our world famous soundsystem and plan to give the room’s lighting a complete overhaul with even more strobes, additional top of the range lasers and new truss layouts specifically designed to maximize the total visual impact on the dance floor. It’s gonna be AMAZING! Oh, and we forget to mention the 8 x Co2 effect heads over the dance floor, this will create a total white out in 2 seconds then clear with-in 4 seconds Nice!.....

Add to this the awesome 2009 line ups including: Sasha, Deadmau5, Steve Lawler, Pete Tong, Erick Morillo, Sander Klienenberg, Mark Knight, Steve Angello, Derrick May, Francois K, Arman Van Buuren, Timo Mass, Josh Gabriel, Marco V...and you’ve got some of the best parties in the Club’s history coming up over the next 12 months, BIG times are ahead for Ministry of Sound.

We hope you are as excited as we are about getting stuck into the New Year, keep an eye on the listings pages where you will also see that from January, entry after 4am will cost you only £6:make sure you are a part of it!

Storming back on Friday 23rdnd is our favourite Friday party ‘The Gallery’, no doubt still buzzing from New Year’s Eve, they will be here bigger and better in 2009, kicking things off with John ‘00’ Flemming, Marcel Woods and M.I.K.E. Ever since coming on board early in 2008, The Gallery and Ministry of Sound has felt like a match made in heaven and with their roster looking more exciting than ever, we wait with baited breath to see what they have in store for us into the New Year.

We will then be raising our glasses to the unstoppable Defected Records, here on the 24th to celebrate an incredible 10 Years in the business as they host a very special ‘House Music to Life’ party with some of Defected’s biggest releases performed live by original recording artists including Julia Mc Knight and a 5 piece band playing live at an exclusive pre-party in The Box from 10-11pm. Keep checking online @ ministryofsound.com/club to find out how you can win tickets to the pre-party. DJ’s on the night include: Bob Sinclar, The Shapeshifters, Junior Jack & Kid Creme, ATFC + more...

The Ministry of Sound brand has cheapened its name to such a huge degree with cheesy compilations, bad clothes and awful releases for so long, I don't think anyone apart from tourists ever go there anymore. Certainly no bona fide clubbers, anyway.

Awful place.

Don't think you know what you're talking about there mate...

obviously not...ahem... 'mate'.

I went to the third and fourth MoS nights EVER... in late 91, early 92..... so obviously, I know nothing

I also continued to go clubbing there throughout the 90s.... up until the late years of that decade... which was when the club 'empire' decided to go for the mainstream. These days MoS is an embarrassment to clubland.... it's the Asdas of the superclubs. Naff... and for charty clubbers - not 'real' clubbers. I mean, check any of the latest rancid Ministry compilations..... a mixture of Eurocheese, chart hits and naff cover versions.

I think this is very unfair. Have you checked the latest Clubbers Guide to 09 comp? Though of course nothing will compare to the dizzy heights of the early to mid 90s.

ScottyEm - that album is abysmal and was exactly the one I was referring to.

Sash? Basshunter? Bodyrox? Kid Cudi? Robyn?

OK, maybe the 2nd disc redeems itself with Tiga, Pryda, Kissy Sell Out and Steve Angello - but even disc 2 is ruined with substandard pop crap like Meck, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto.....and the 189th remix of Delerium's Silence.

I had a promo copy of this... I gave it to a charity shop.

Also, let's not forget... Ministry of Sound are responsible for inflicting Basshnter on us.... it's their subsidiary label that releases this excrement.

Russ you are one of my favorite posters, so funny! And with the exception of your objection to Robyn and maybe tiesto (maybe for sentimental reasons), I absolutely agree with you. i made the mistake of downloading the Annual 2009 album... with possibly 1-2 exceptions it was just awful. Also the new club looks super cheesy.
