Posted January 16, 200916 yr Slipknot's album sales of All Hope Is Gone only tell part of the story. For the band's fans, they waited all year for the summer release of the collection, which was the band's first ever to hit the Number One spot on the Billboard 200 album chart. Add to that all the ravenous fans that seek out the band anywhere and everywhere on the internet, and thats why they're Artisan News Service's Metal Artist Of The Year. We asked percussionist Chris Fehn earlier this year about their fan support. "I could tell from the early days that, like I said before, it's a culture, and it's a way of life. Those kids back then meant it so much that I knew that they'd be there forever. Even if it was still just a few of them, those would be the best club shows to this day. It turns out we've gathered more minions and everything's coming along, and so it's just going to be off the hook." All Hope Is Gone originally came in second to The Game's LAX, but the label asked for an historic recount which then had Slipknot at Number One upon final tally.
January 16, 200916 yr I do agree that Slipknot are great but not becoming the 2008 Metal Artist of The Year... Edited January 16, 200916 yr by funmaker11
January 16, 200916 yr I love 'Death Magnetic' and it's about twice as better as 'All Hope Is Gone' imo, which I love too.. Each uniquely different. And both albums being one of their better albums.. Thank God it wasn't Guns n' Roses :o what a joke were they last year.. Other contenders must've been AC/DC and Trivium? Trivium's album was probably their best to date despite the critical 'Metallica wannabe' label, but not quite a fan of them yet just downloaded a few songs from 'Shogun'.
January 16, 200916 yr Author not fan of Death Magnetic, old stuf are away better. well obviously the old old stuff is better but imo DM was better than AHIG (slightly), and was a real return to form for Metallica. Seeing Metallica at Reading was also a highlight of the year for me, seeing the legends live (i would of seen slipknot too but they dropped out   )
January 19, 200916 yr I would say they are pretty far up there. Psychosocial is a great track, also a big fan of All Hope Is Gone.

January 19, 200916 yr Thank God it wasn't Guns n' Roses :o what a joke were they last year.. Indeed, Axl was... But, let's face it, it wasn't Guns N Roses in any case, Chinese Democracy had no business calling itself a Guns N Roses record.... Just Axl and a bunch of session musicians arseing around doing stuff that probably sounded great when they were all in the studio getting fukked on JD, Jim Beam and marijuana, but, GOD, they clearly had no thoughts for an audience actually having to listen to the results of their self-indulgent muso w/ankery.....

I have gotten into metal in the past two years because of my friends. But I would still say I like a little bit of everything...pop, metal, and dance being my favorites. And Britney will always have a special place on my ipod. <3
