Posted January 22, 200916 yr Slipknot percussionist Chris Fehn has high hopes for the band's future. "I think we're going to overtake Metallica," Fehn told KansasCity.com in a recent interview. "We're going to overtake any band that sells out soccer arenas in Europe. We're going to do it. We're the last chance as far as the world goes." "They (fans) keep showing up, and it's getting better and better every year," Fehn said. And musically, he thinks Slipknot has yet to peak. "We haven't even made our 'Black' record yet," Fehn said, referring to the 1991 "Metallica" CD that made Metallica the undisputed kings of the heavy metal scene. "Wait until we do that. It's over, dude." Regarding Slipknot's upcoming headlining U.S. tour in support of the "All Hope Is Gone" CD, Fehn said, "It's kind of a surprise for now. But we're going to play some really original, like different kind of stuff. We've got a great set put together. We've got four records now, so we've got a lot to choose from."

I know what you mean, but an emotional song by Slipknot (Dead Memories, etc.) is not exactly Slipknot, right? Edited January 22, 200916 yr by funmaker11
January 22, 200916 yr 'Dead Memories' is hardly more emotional than for example 'All Hope Is Gone'. It's just a lot more alternative than what their usual songs are. 'Wait and Bleed' is just as emotional, maybe more and there's loads others. . Most of their songs involve some sort of emotion to some extent. One song really isn't that less emotional than the other, IMO.. They have their specific sound to basically every song, which makes every album very Slipknot. .

When I'm talking about emotional, I'm not talking about songs like in Iowa (Disasterpiece, People = S***, My Plague) and some others like Spit It Out. I guess what I'm saying is actually "alternative", not "emotional". <_< I was just expecting the album being quite like Iowa/1st Album. :D Never mind, album's great. Edited January 22, 200916 yr by funmaker11
January 26, 200916 yr I think he's right, you know. I vastly prefer Metallica over Slipknot, but when you talk about new metal bands (since 2000, shall we say), then Slipknot are at the very top of that pile in terms of success. A new metal band topping the Billboard Album Chart is a complete rarity these days. Sure, Linkin Park topped it, but they're not really metal by any standard. Slipknot's new album is properly heavy; a REAL metal record. And for them to have achieved such success with it I think is incredible. They are the Metallica for this generation.
