U2 set for Isle Of Wight Festival?

23 January 2009

U2 are set to headline the Isle Of Wight Festival, a tabloid newspaper has suggested.

Bono and Co are said to be joining The Prodigy, who were confirmed on Wednesday (21 January), and Oasis, who Virtual Festivals exclusively revealed as headliners back in October last year.

The Daily Star also suggested that Green Day and Arctic Monkeys will top the bill at Reading and Leeds along with Kings Of Leon, who VF announced as headliners in November.

Radiohead were said to have been approached for the August weekenders, but the plans fell through.

A source told the Daily Star: "Radiohead were close to agreeing to play Reading and Leeds but the contract fell through. However that’s not to say they won’t headline elsewhere.

"They're certainly in the mood to do something special after their own outdoor gigs last year were adored by fans."

The tabloid also revealed that Bruce Springsteen is set to play Hard Rock Calling in London as well a slot at Glastonbury and Kasabian are set to perform at V Festival.

However Virtual Festivals are led to believe that Coldplay and Blur will be headlining both V Festivals.

Not convinced about this one tbh. Is the Isle of Wight Festival one of the major ones? I've never even heard of it!

Maybe we should all go see U2 at the Isle of Wight :w00t:

I'll book the ferry tickets

 On that list I don't see Placebo, and they for sure had their performance on Isle of Wight. :P And on T in the Park also.

I think it'd be good for U2 to play there. ;)
