Posted January 25, 200916 yr The first single from his forthcoming Rebirth album. It's not a Tha Carter castof album anymore, its a new album altogether. A LQ tagged version of this song has leaked, it seems alright. Not a patch on his older stuff by the sounds of it tho :(
January 25, 200916 yr Sounds good, but it's a shame he's ditched the rapping. I think he's trying to do a Kanye and prove he's a "genius". The single is very good though. It's anything but urban, but it'll still probably do well in the US because it's Lil' Wayne. I knew he was doing a rock album, but that production is crazy. Even if this album does stink, it's only to hype the next Carter album, so it's not a big deal anyway.
January 26, 200916 yr Well, I think that Lil Wayne just grow up. You know, his child and so on. And usually children do change parents a lot. I like old Lil Wayne more though :)
January 26, 200916 yr It's a real grower. I've been listening to it on repeat today. It's one of those songs you'll either love or hate. A lot of people think it sounds dated, but I don't quite get that. Either way, you've got to admire Weezy stepping out of his comfort zone, like, completely. The more I hear this, the more I just cannot see this doing well on Urban radio in the US. It goes for adds tomorrow, and I know it's Lil' Wayne, but I just can't see it! I hope I'm wrong.
January 27, 200916 yr Hmmph. Quite different to some his other stuff it must be said. First things first, it does seem as if he's gone down the Kanye path of 808 and Heartbreak, but then Kanye stole Lil' Wayne's vocoder effect so... But the rock element, i'm guessing it's taken influence from Let It Rock? I quite like the track, but then I am a fan of rock music in general so I guess it gathers. I wanna hear the track in proper HQ though, I think it would sound pretty special.
January 27, 200916 yr Absolutely terrible  I adore 'Tha Carter III' but what is this track/theme supposed to be about? 80s rock backing?! What does that add to his raps? It just creates vile and totally unlistenable music. Weak production, a lack of direction. I could go on. >.>

He did a rock remix to Lollipop and adds a lot of rock elements to his songs at gigs and stuff. It really is him trying something new that he's interested in. I think it's clear he's not going to open with a million record sales for Rebirth, though. With reviews being split down the middle, he may have lost a lot of his core fanbase. Like I said, this isn't the "big one" - he's saving that for The Carter Pt. 4.
January 27, 200916 yr Oh, and Hot Revolver has now leaked. It's likely going to be on the album. It's another rock cut, but it has more mass appeal than Prom Queen, I think. I can't wait for the HQ of this one...

But I don't see why he's going to do it? Don't get me wrong I like Prom Queen, but it just seems like he's following Kanye's lead. In comparison to Kanye's other free albums his latest has flopped but he always said that because, it was an experimental album. But now Lil Wayne's trying to same thing? Well, with a rockier vibe.

Well, yeah, but Weezy's doing something he's actually interested in. I think he knows it won't have as much hype as Carter III, but he actually wants to do this. Like I said, it's just something to put out there before Carter IV (or whatever it will be named). And as for Kanye, sure, it's flopped in comparison to his previous efforts, but it's showing signs of longevity. I think it's done better than even he imagined. Heartless has saved this era from being a fully-fledged flop.
January 29, 200916 yr this is like his best song ever and i'm a huge fan of him. it's #24 on usa itunes, hope it rises soon.
January 29, 200916 yr Author I think it's very good when an artist experiments. I mean how many times does Lil Wayne need to rap along to a hip-hop beat before he gets bored of it? Clearly now  I adore this song. I can't stop listening to it..its so random.
January 29, 200916 yr i must say im not a big fan of it right now, but i am awaiting the rest of the cd to pass judgement
February 1, 200916 yr This is an absolute JOKE. It sounds like the Travis Barker remix of Soulja Boy.... I don't know what he's thinking. He finally got PROPER success and then releases this?! It's getting awful reaction pretty much everywhere which is good, hopefully the album bombs and he releases another album soon with his older sound. Seriously vile.
