Well, now he's got 71 acres of it all to himself. The 34-year-old singer, who has been based in the U.S. since 2004, has been spotted strolling in the grounds of his new £7million French-style country mansion in Wiltshire. Williams is setting up home in the 17th century manor house as he prepares to record a new solo album. His girlfriend, 29-year-old American actress Ayda Field, is expected to join him. The property has a tennis court, a sauna and swimming pool complex, eight bathrooms, a gym, two staff flats and a helicopter hangar.

February 2, 200916 yr Author Click here to see Rob on his bike  http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showb...icle2196028.ece By JOHN COLES PARANORMAL nut ROBBIE WILLIAMS checks out the ley of the land on a bike ride near his new home — in an area famed for the weird and wonderful. Robbie, 34, has paid £7million for the country estate said to be criss-crossed by “ley lines” — invisible mystical energy routes believed to attract UFOs. His mansion, set in 71 acres, is also bang in the centre of crop circle country — and just yards from an HQ for thousands of people who investigate the field indentations every summer. Robbie — who is obsessed with UFOs — is also within easy reach of a flying saucer study group not far from his home in the tiny village of Compton Bassett, Wilts. Locals reported 45 UFO sightings last year — more than most other counties in Britain — and they will be hosting a mass sky-watch for more this summer. And in addition, Robbie will be near one of Britain’s most haunted pubs and other ancient and mystical sites such as stone circles, white horses carved on to hillsides and burial mounds. The singer, who was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staff, has moved back to Britain after five years in Los Angeles and is keen to check out the area around his new home. Yesterday, he tried to disguise himself with a chinguard as he pedalled with a minder on £5,500 road bikes he bought last week in Swindon. Robbie claims to have seen UFOs three times and called his 2006 tour Close Encounters. And he once revealed he believes in ghosts, saying: “People will think I’m mental — which I am.” Last night his new local The White Horse was gearing up for thousands of crop circle fans to overrun the pub from April. Landlady Tara Adams turned her skittle alley into a research centre last year for people who flock to Wiltshire every spring to study the large number of circles which appear in fields of wheat, barley and rape. She said: “I was amazed. “Thousands came — professors, scientists and ordinary people. Hopefully Robbie will join them this year.” Robbie has also been invited to join the Swindon-based UFO group SUFOR, which is organising the “Weird 09” UFO-watch and conference at Trowbridge in August. Organiser Chris Williams said: “Wiltshire has a really rich history of fortean things — unexplained phenomena. “We have a lot more UFO sightings than most and we’ve got the famous stone circles at Stonehenge and Avebury and the ancient mystical sites like Silbury Hill. I’m sure Robbie would find our meetings fascinating.”

February 5, 200916 yr Author Some more info on 'The Manor'. And it's near a smelly rubbish dump apparently!!!!!   From http://property.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life...icle5666911.ece Robbie Williams buys Compton Bassett House in Calne, Wiltshire Rock star pays close to £8.5m for 18th-century country house with 71 acres, a helicopter hangar, temples and fountains There are seven bedroom suites, a helicopter hangar, a basement pool surrounded by Doric pillars and approached through a lobby whose black-and-white flooring was inspired by the decor of the residence of Pierce Brosnan in The Thomas Crown Affair, plus a formal garden with temples and fountains. An 11th-century church stands close by. These are just some of the features of Compton Bassett House, the extensively restored 18th century mansion near Calne in Wiltshire recently bought by the singer Robbie Williams. The house first made the headlines in a Bricks&Mortar cover story a year ago. Subsequently the country house market succumbed to the general decline in the property market. However, Williams seems to have paid close to the guide price of £8.5 million, not £7 million as reported, highlighting the relative resilience of the top-notch rural pile with easy access to London. Compton Bassett House - which was offered for sale jointly by Knight Fr‘ank and Savills - is just 13 miles from the M4. The drive to London takes about two hours. Previous owners attest to the house's impeccable architectural credentials. It was for a while the place in the country of Lord Foster of Thames Bank, the architect of 30 St Mary Axe, otherwise known as The Gherkin, a man who would not be able to abide a displeasing design. Other aspects of the 71-acre estate that could appeal to Williams include its proximity to Cley Hill in Warminster, a location associated with UFO sightings. Williams developed a passion for UFOs during his five-year stay in Los Angeles, which means that he might also have been drawn to Compton Bassett House by reports that the estate is criss-crossed by ley lines. For the uninitiated these are the “mystical energy routes” that guide UFOs towards close encounters with earthlings. Another reputed motivation for Williams's purchase of the house is his desire for a closer relationship with the members of Take That. Williams could rejoin Gary Barlow and the others after a rapprochement. But Williams - a man who likes a laugh - could just be amused by the idea that he will be living in the former stables of the original Compton Bassett House. This stately pile, built in 1674, was pulled down in 1929 by some owner who seems to have become suddenly envious of his steeds' imposing 150ft-long accommodation. He converted the block into a residence, giving it the name Compton Bassett House. The property's most recent makeover was masterminded by Paul and Selene Cripps, who employed Michael Phillips, the architect who devised the design of the swishly elegant Malmaison hotels. The renovation, begun in 1998, was so extensive that Mr Cripps was forced to install a new electricity substation at the cost of £350,000 as the property was using so much energy. Other highlights of this revamp are the master suite's “his” and “hers” bathrooms, with their flooring, Jerusalem limestone and African red granite, respectively. The “hers” bathroom has an island theme, with bridges leading to the shower. The room was tanked so that fish could swim round the island, but the Cripps decided that such an aquarium would pose problems when they went on holiday. The Cripps sold up because they wished to downsize; Mr Cripps also told The Times that he was “fed up of having to get into the car for a paper or a pint of milk”. The distance from the shops has already sent Williams into nearby Swindon in search of a new bicycle: he wore a ski mask for the foray. This disguise may have been prompted by the desire for anonymity. But there is also a considerable whiff from the landfill site close to his new domain - and the rubbish tip could be extended in the next few years.
February 8, 200916 yr I can honestly say I would never wanna live in a place like that, wouldn't mind the guy who bought it though I much prefer a nice little cosey cottage, filled with all kinds of imaginable luxory of course

February 9, 200916 yr Author http://entertainment.oneindia.in/music/int...pad-090209.html Robbie's girl pal worried over country pad Monday, February 9, 2009, 12:36 [iST] Robbie Williams girlfriend Ayda Field is deeply worried that the couple will be besieged by fans and ramblers when they will move into their new 8.5 million pounds country pad. Field, 29, is most concerned about the easy access to the property in the Wiltshire village for fans of the singer. A bridle path runs close to 34-year-old Williams restored 18th Century mansion. This could make it a good spot for fans and walkers to loiter in the hope of spotting their idol. "The bridle path is already used by a lot of ramblers during the summer months. It's also used by people walking up to a nearby church. It's probably not the ideal house in which to keep a low profile," the Daily Star quoted Danny Adams, landlord of the local pub, as saying. Apart from that, residents are complaining about the stench from a local landfill site likely to get worse when the dump is extended. One local said: "No one seems to have told Robbie about the smell which is especially bad in the warmer months. His house is near a landfill site which emits a considerable pong in the summer and the council is talking about extending the site in the future. Some people might say that 8.5million pounds to live next to a rubbish dump is a bit much," the local added.
