It's sad that another life has been lost to cancer.

However, I didn't like Jade Goody and I'm not going to mourn her. I feel sorry for her children, I really do, it's such a shame but I just hope they'll get her funeral out of the way and we don't have to hear about it anymore.

That's the point I was making. Yet Gordon Brown has set time aside today to express his regret at the death of a very ordinary woman. People who have really achieved something, who are British yet whose brilliance has led to them to being known in Russia and elsewhere don't get this kind of treatment. Seems more like an attempt by Brown to regain popularity with the thicker members of the public.

When myself and my girlfriend was putting our daughter to bed tonight she asked to look at the stars as she said, which everone was the brighest would be jade, it was such a touching moment from her and she looked at jades death in some ways positive as she thinks its amazing how a human can be a star,i tell it brought a tear to our eye, and my heart and soul goes out to her 2 sons,its such a tough tough time for them.

watched the wedding again tonight...so hard to believe its all over!!!

Seems more like an attempt by Brown to regain popularity with the thicker members of the public.

Agreed. While there is no doubt that Natasha had more to offer us in terms of acting talent, the idea that it makes her life more valuable than a "stupid, ugly" woman from a poor background is repulsive to me.

 

Of course the amount of attention for Jade's illness and death is completely disproportionate, but in all honesty, Natasha's death wouldn't have made the front pages of any British newspapers if she wasn't married to Liam Neeson or the daughter of acting legends or the sister of Joeley. She was a very well respected Broadway actress, but well respected Broadway actresses with a few film roles don't normally get the attention Natasha got.

 

It's horribly sad for both families and everyone who knew either of them.

The Reality TV lot (ie, the producers) would have done it if they could've gotten away with it, but they probably backed off when only when their legal departments said it would be a bad move.... The media are portraying Jade as the new Princess Diana, I believe one of them even called her Princess Diana from the wrong side of the tracks, I can understand the comparisons between Jade Goody & Princess Diana. Both were deeply unremarkable women hyped to the point of hysteria by the British press who's ultimate demise was swamped in a tsunami of mawkish sentimentality that bore no relation to their actual achievements. Lets face it if you threw a bucket of $h!t in an Essex nightclub or a Knightsbridge shop you would hit a dozen Jade Goodys or Diana Spencers. Both were famous just for being famous; Jade because she was a televised freakshow & Diana because she married into a freakshow. Without these strokes of fortune neither of them would have made any impression. Jade would have just been someone you wouldn't like to have lived next door to & Diana just another Sloane married off to some Hooray Henry & probably f***ing his mates behind his back. Neither were terrible people but nor were they living saints who's loss should plunge the nation into a frenzy of crocodile tears.

 

On the day Jade died so did another 150,000 other people. Another 150,000 will die today. Some were soldiers, doctors, scientists, artists, dustmen, miners, mothers, children, criminals & poets. How many of their stories do you know? What makes Jade so special that the press & television are full of her story to the exclusion of all others?

As long as people continue to pay good money for freakshows the media will continue to invent them. She chose to be ignorant in the sense that she had access to a decent education system (this country DOES educate everyone for free up to age 18) and wilfully chose not to participate in it... Jodie Marsh had a private education at a posh girl's school (so her folks clearly had a few bob), look how she turned out.... Both chose to be ignorant and make a career out of their thickness.... Both from different social backgrounds, both thick as pig-$h!t....
