This year marks the 60th Anniversary of the 7 inch Single.

What was your first 7 inch single purchase?

Mine was The Police - Message In A Bottle (1978)

With the single I got a free copy of the top 40 singles chart for that week, that's how I got into the charts

That's cool Martin. Mine, I'm afraid to say was Take That - Babe :heehee: It was meant to be a present for a "girlfriend" but I liked it, kept it and was dumped soon after! Oh well, womankind's loss! To be honest when I was very young I used to get tapes instead of vinyl but now I love it, and I have a collection of about 2000 7"s/12"s/LPs from the 60s to the 90s! So happy birthday singles, I wonder if CDs will be around in 35 years time!
Farley Jackmaster Funk - Love Can't Turn Around (1986)
Olivers Army by Elvis Costello

One of my all-time favourites :D

My first was Fade To Grey by Visage

Edit: However, it wasn't the first single I owned, that was one purchased by my parents in the early 70's...a double A side of The Owl And The Pussycat and Run Rabbit Run by goodness knows who! :P
