Posted February 6, 200916 yr http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/entertai...r-14171506.html U2 'to play three Dublin gigs in summer' Thursday, 5 February 2009 Speculation is mounting that U2 will play three dates at Croke Park this summer as part of a Europe-wide stadium tour. The band is thought to have provisionally booked the 82,000-capacity ground for July 24, 25 and 26. And it emerged last night that the neighbouring Jurys Hotel has tripled their prices for the dates. Rooms are now selling at €299 per night for a superior bedroom compared to €99 the previous weekend. :o :arrr: General manager Edward Stephenson stressed that supply and demand issues had led to the price rise with the hotel already 85pc booked up. "We have very high occupancy here for those dates," Mr Stephenson said. "We have very little availability left so that would be the normal situation in a hotel that we would sell off rooms for a cheaper price first. "A number of people have got very competitive rates for these dates." Mr Stephenson did not confirm that the weekend's popularity was due to the U2 gig but admitted that there had been a lot of speculation about a possible event on those dates. "For matches and concerts and other events, we would offer very good value for people who book early," Mr Stephenson added. The north-Dublin rockers are not due to officially announce their tour dates until the middle of next month and tickets are expected to sell out fast.

February 27, 200916 yr Author http://www.businessinsider.com/recession-m...ing-tour-2009-2 Recession-Minded U2 Plan To Offer Cheaper Tickets For Upcoming Tour At a live radio show in London last night, U2 discussed plans for their upcoming tour, slated to take place this summer. Among other details, Bono said the band would attempt to offer lower ticket prices, what with the recession and all. "We're trying to work on some cheaper ticket prices because this is the recession," he told the BBC. "We're also going to have some very expensive ticket prices because rich people have feelings too!" Are there still rich people? Anyway, this is a nice idea, but we don't see it happening. We have a feeling that Live Nation, who'll be putting on this tour, won't let the band sell really cheap tickets, below what a U2 concert typically costs to attend. There are no doubt significant costs incurred in mounting such a tour that Live Nation has to make up, and we wouldn't be surprised if someone (Live Nation, U2's manager) didn't try to convince U2 that there was a certain level at which an act of their magnitude needs to price their tickets.
February 27, 200916 yr ^ Yes, I want to know that also. Because, I'm really planning to see them if they come around.
February 27, 200916 yr Author I'm joking Nada  Dunno, probably about £40-£50. Much the same as any other major act I expect (except Madonna obviously  )
