I'm not sure. The £ and the euro are about much the same at the moment I think. The £ has been dropping like a stone these past few months :arrr:

U2’s Bono Previews Innovative “No Line on the Horizon” Tour

2/27/09, 3:05 pm EST

After selling out countless arenas this decade, U2 are heading outdoors this year with their first U.S. stadium tour since 1997’s PopMart Tour. The band members, who release No Line on the Horizon on March 3rd, haven’t yet announced dates for the tour or details about what they’ll play. But they hope to keep ticket prices unusually low, and they’re already planning an innovative setup that will allow for 360-degree seating around the stage, which will be moved closer to the center of the field than in any other stadium show. “It’s an engineering feat that creates this real physical proximity to the crowd,” Bono tells Rolling Stone, adding that the band wants to maximize space in the enormous venues to accommodate the many young fans it has made this decade with hits such as “Vertigo.” “We’re going outdoors to try to meet that audience.

“We want to play for each other as much as we want to play for the crowd this time,” Bono adds. “You just don’t know how long you will be going to be doing this. I just sat everyone down the other day, because some concerns about the tour had come up, and nobody wants to be away from their families. I just said,’This is an unbelievable and rare opportunity to be in this band and to play at this level. You don’t know what is around the corner, you don’t know if you will be up for it or the audience will be up for it. Right now, we are perfectly riding across those two thoughts and every single night should be the best night of your life. If not, then we are just the worst of those Seventies dinosaur bands that felt it was enough to just turn up and play and that people were lucky to be in their presence.’ ”

Bruce Springsteen and U2 to play massive summer gigs at Hampden

Mar 1 2009 By Billy Sloan

THE Boss and Bono are hitting Scotland for two spectacular gigs this summer.

We can reveal Bruce Springsteen And The E Street Band will headline Hampden Park in Glasgow on Tuesday, July 14.

It's the US superstar's first gig in Scotland with his group for 28 years.

U2 will follow him to the national stadium to play a massive show - on Tuesday, August 18 - to promote new album No Line On The Horizon.

The Boss's date is only the fifth time he's appeared in Scotland and follows weeks of secret negotiations.

Last month he topped the charts with brilliant album Working On A Dream and was confirmed as headline act for Glastonbury Festival in June.

His E Street Band - featuring guitarists Miami Steve Van Zandt and Nils Lofgren and saxophone star Clarence Clemons - are one of rock's greatest live acts.

They showed why when they wowed 73,000 fans - plus millions watching on TV around the world - at Hampden - and now it's official.

Scotland was the first rock territory - outside their native Ireland - to be conquered by Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr.

And they're promising their greatest stadium show yet.

Bono said:"What we've planned for outdoors has never been done before.

It's a feat of engineering genius."

The supergroup are riding high with new single Get On Your Boots from their 12th studio album No Line On The Horizon.

It was produced by the studio dream team of Daniel Lanois, Brian Eno and Steve Lillywhite in Morocco, Dublin and London.

U2 wowed Barack Obama and two million fans when they played at his inauguration gig.

For Springsteen tickets, call Live Nation on 0844 576 5483 and 0844 481 5880 or use www.gigsinscotland.com, www.livenation.co.uk, or ww.secxtra.com from 9am on March 6. U2 details to come.

I'm going to try to get tickets for both of the above gigs. Not holding out much hope but I'll try anyway. If I even got tickets for one of them I'd be well satisfied ^_^

Good luck in getting tickets

You'll need to be at the computer ready to press the button at 9am  :drama: so much stress

wonder if there are any pre sales

Keane had a pre sale through their official site, bit like Robbies only it was free, don't have to pay to join

Might be worth looking at the U2 one

  • Author
Oh right. I get you. No, you have to pay to join U2's 'inner club' thing. Not sure what to do. May just take my chance at the general sale.

Sometimes I think that is better to be honest.

Keanes pre sale tickets turned out to be crap, I was one of the lucky ones fortunately and didn't have bad seats, but there were alot of unhappy fans with pre sale tickets seated at the very back when promised the best in the house.

Didn't Scotty have something similiar with Robbie tickets?

  • Author

Yes he did. I think he was right up in the Gods at Croke Park. My pre-sale Robbie ones were ok. Nothing startling. Just ok. But lots of Inner Scrotum fans ended up with rubbish seats at Hampden too.

To be honest I'd just be happy to get tickets. Rubbish or otherwise. I'm not sure whether to try on-line on Friday or just phone the Hotline. Although knowing my luck the local farmer will plough through the phone lines at 8.59am precisely

Try and do both, but the internet would probably be quicker.

If there are various sites selling tickets, have more than one screen open at 9am and stay in line without

refreshing pages. See which one comes up first. I'ld stay with well known ones like see tickets and ticketmaster

or official sites.

U2 offers bargain tickets for tour

Monday March 02 2009

Irish Independent

U2 are set to give cash-strapped fans a boost by offering bargain tickets for their new tour for as little as €30 a pop.

Bono and the boys are expected to embark on a worldwide stadium tour later this year to promote their new album, with Croke Park expected to host a number of Irish gigs in July. But while tickets for their 2005 Vertigo tour sold for between €60 and €80, the band will lower prices for certain tickets.

U2 pencils in Croker July special for No Line tour

By Alistair Grant

Irish Examiner

U2 are expected to confirm details of their No Line on the Horizon tour, with tickets on sale from Saturday week for 50 concerts across Europe and North America.

The tour will feature a 360-degree central stage and credit crunch-busting ticket prices which, according to unofficial reports, could be as low as €30.

U2 are due to confirm Irish dates at Dublin’s Croke Park on July 24, 25 and 27 and early August concerts at Wembley, Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium and the City Of Manchester Stadium.

The tour is expected to start at Barcelona’s Nou Camp stadium at the end of June, with dates at Stade de France in Paris on July 10 and 11, then Nice, Berlin and Amsterdam before heading to Dublin for an emotional Croke Park homecoming.

U2 then head for the United States and Canada, with tickets for those concerts going on sale on April 4.

In the US, they are due to play New York, Boston, Chicago, Miami and San Francisco.

The band’s 12th studio album No Line on the Horizon came out on Friday in Ireland, Holland, Germany and Australia and will be released in the rest of Europe and North America today.

Tour tickets are to go on sale on March 14 and an instant sell-out is expected.

U2 manager Paul McGuinness revealed the band’s tour details to music industry magazine Music Week.

Arthur Fogel, global touring chief executive of U2’s promoters Live Nation, confirmed the bargain tickets prices.

He said: "There will be extreme [price] tiering. The notion of single-price tickets is not something I have ever embraced.

"In this particular [economic] climate, it’s important to really look at tiering carefully."

Following Friday’s BBC rooftop gig in London, U2 begin a five-night stint on US TV show The Late Show with David Letterman tonight.

U2 to begin world tour in Barcelona on June 30

Fri Mar 6, 2009 7:45pm GMT

By Ray Waddell

NASHVILLE (Billboard) - U2 will kick off its world tour in Barcelona on June 30, and will begin the North American leg at Chicago's Soldier Field on September 12, sources told Billboard.

The official announcement of the "Kiss The Future" stadium trek in support of the Irish rockers' new album "No Line on the Horizon" will be made on March 9.

The shows will boast 360-degree audience configuration  , ambitious staging and a cylindrical video screen.

"We're very excited about the idea to go on the road with this album," guitarist the Edge said. "It's an album that I think is going to translate so well to the live context. The songs we've tried in rehearsal are sounding fantastic, so that's got everyone really fired up."

U2 plans to stay on the road through the fall of 2010, playing between 90 and 100 shows. The initial European leg will wrap August 22, and the North American leg on October 28, combining for 40-45 shows this year.

In 2010, U2 will return to North America in June-July, and to Europe in August-September. The trek then tentatively will hit South America. The tour is destined to become one of the highest-grossing tours ever; at $389 million (275.7 million pounds) , the band's 2005-2007 Vertigo tour is second only to the Rolling Stones' A Bigger Bang trek, which also ran from 2005 to 2007.

After playing arenas in North America and stadiums elsewhere on their last few tours, U2 will play stadiums everywhere this time out.

"This is going to be completely different, and that's what makes it exciting -- finding something new to bring to the touring culture," said the Edge. "It's hard to come up with something that's fundamentally different, but we have, I think, on this tour. Where we're taking our production will never have been seen before by anybody, and that's an amazing thing to be able to say. For a band like U2 that really thrive on breaking new ground, it's a real thrill."

Playing in a 360 configuration will increase the capacity by about 15 percent-20 percent, depending on the stadium. The top ticket price will be slightly higher than last time and the bottom price will be lower, with the floor seats -- the closest to the stage -- the lowest priced. In fact, playing larger capacity venues allows for more conservative pricing overall. Field level is going to be $55, and there will be 10,000 tickets a show, every show, at $30. The price points are $250, $90-$95, depending on the market; $55 and $30.

On-sales will begin in Europe in mid-March, and North American on-sales will start in late March/early April. U2 will also resurrect its random upgrade program first seen on the Elevation tour in 2001, where select fans purchasing general-admission tickets will be moved closest to the stage.

:w00t:

So, tomorrow we'll get the dates? Can somebody please post them here then, because I maybe won't be able to open official site?

I hope for Hungary, Serbia or Croatia. And I know I'll be disappointed. -_- :(

NEW @U2 TOUR NAME CHANGE - 'U2360' TOUR

March 06, 2009

posted by: Rashas / sherry

According to Billboard, U2's upcoming world tour will be called "U2360". It was previously reported the tour's name was to be "Kiss the Future," however Billboard's editors updated the story today with the new tour title. As has previously been reported, the tour begins in Barcelona, Spain, on June 30. U2 will stay in Europe through Aug. 22, then hit the U.S. on Sept. 12th in Chicago. The band will play in North America until Oct. 28, and plans on working the globe until the fall of 2010.

Playing in a 360 configuration will increase the capacity by about 15%-20%, depending on the stadium. The configuration opens up myriad opportunities for scaling ticket prices. The top ticket price will be slightly higher than last time and the bottom price will be lower, with the floor seats -- the closest to the stage -- the lowest priced. Field level is going to be $55, and there will be 10,000 tickets a show, every show, at $30. The price points are $250, $90-$95, depending on the market; $55 and $30.

On-sales will begin in Europe in mid-March, and North American on-sales will start in late March/early April. U2 will also resurrect its random upgrade program first seen on the Vertigo tour in 2001, where select fans purchasing GA tickets will be moved closest to the stage.

Stay tuned for the official announcement and tour dates on Monday, March 9th.
