July 21, 200915 yr Yes. :( And no Bad. :( Haha, I'm going to stop complaining right now, as I'm unbelievable happy I'm going to see them in just few weeks and I'm really happy with setlist.
July 21, 200915 yr Author They have such an immense back catalogue to choose from though. Guess they can't please everyone
July 21, 200915 yr I have a few issues with the setlist. Firstly, it is WAY too predictable. I mean they are changing one or two songs per night, usually after ISHFWILF. Surely by doing this they will get bored with it? As well as the fans. Ok people like most of us here, who are only seeing them once (or twice in my case :smoke: ) this tour wont mind as it includes most of the big classics, but it is a tad annoying knowing almost exactly what the next song is going to be. They should do what Bruce does and just randomly play songs they havent played in ages, or at least mix up the songs more - like add in The Fly, Even Better Than The Real Thing, Discotheque, Until The End Of The World - these songs would perfectly suit the stage set-up. Also, add in some of the other classics for the acoustic set like All I Want Is You and Staring At The Sun. The fans on the U2 forums are very annoyed at how samey the setlist is getting. I would personlly be very pleased with it the way it is, but woud like a few suprised. Out Of Conrol and Bad would be two perfect ones for Dublin :P Also, the remix of Crazy Tonight HAS to go. It is awful imo. The song is the 3rd single, it is being used for the Blackberry adds, so why are they not playing it properly? The remix just sounds bad imo, and some of Bono's vocals are on playback which is another reason to get rid of it  Oh and another encore is needed :P
July 21, 200915 yr I agree with you, but on the other side, just look Robbie, he did exactly the same setlist on every concert in his last tour! That's annoying. But, I agree this is predictable also. And, of course, remix have to go. Here, I'm complaining again. No, I'm just telling my opinion. ^_^
July 21, 200915 yr OMG :o After my post I went onto atu2.com to check tonight's setlist and can you believe it? BAD, 40, AND Until The End, Drowning Man (first time EVER( plus Stuck In A Moment. I SO want this exact setlist for Dublin  Btw, tonight was apparently the best gig so far on the tour. Cant wait to hear Twinks review :D Main Set-List 1. Breathe 2. No Line On the Horizon 3. Get On Your Boots 4. Magnificent 5. Beautiful Day 6. Elevation 7. Desire/ Billie Jean and Don't Stop Till You Get Enough [both Snippets] 8. Stuck in a Moment 9. One 10. Until the End of the World/Break On Through [snippet] 11. City of Blinding Lights 12. Vertigo 13. I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight (Remix) 14. July 21, 200915 yr Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat???? :o Is this true? I don't think so. I watched some videos on YT and here's what they did of 40, just a little bit of Bono's singing at the end of MOS. bYvkIovdhT0 Second thinking:  But, if we are talking about tonight's list, well, that I don't really know. I hope story is true! Plus Elevation! :o OMG! That one many Croatian fans wants! And I want exact the same setlist!
July 21, 200915 yr That was last night. The setlist is correct. Would you believe I didnt evens ee Elevation :o  Delighted they are playing it as it is amazing live, but I just noticed I Still Havent Found, Unknown Caller, And The Unforgettable Fire - 3 of the highlights of the gigs are GONE :o Hmm, instead of replacing classics - I have decided they should just add them. Is it really that much to expect them to play 25 songs
July 21, 200915 yr Ok, I see now.  And nooooooooo The Unforgettable Fire and I Still Haven't Found can't be gone. I'm really all confused now with set lists.  I vote for 25 songs also. -_-
July 22, 200915 yr Author http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaki.../breaking44.htm U2 stage set 'the biggest in rock history' RONAN MCGREEVY U2's stage show for this weekend's series of concerts at Croke Park is the biggest in rock music history, the band's tour director has said. The colossal edifice, which resembles a giant claw, is nearly 60 metres high and the same distance wide. It is currently being put in place for the concerts which take place on Friday, Saturday and Monday nights. Craig Evans said the band had spared no expense in putting the 360 tour together and the travelling party numbered around 500 people with 2,000 people in each city being involved in ancillary activities such as ticket sales and promotion. Mr Evans said the band have been “thrilled for a long time” about the prospects of playing three concerts in their home town. However, he expressed regret that the full 360 experience of playing in the round will not be available to Irish fans because of the layout of Croke Park. The audience will not be allowed on Hill 16 behind the main stage because of health and safety concerns. “It's a shame. we're subject to the design and physical limitations of every stadium. With the power and access and safety requirement and sound requirement, this stadium just doesn't allow it," he said. "We looked at every option we could to put people back there. We wanted to be able to utilise that. It is fantastic when you see it in the round.” However, fans will be able to go to the pitch area at the back of the stage giving a semblance of the band playing in the round. Tickets are still available for Friday and Monday night's concerts. Promoter MCD's spokesman Justin Green said fans were coming from as far away as Brazil, Japan, Canada and the US to watch U2 play their home town and the event was attracting 300 foreign media personnel. He also said the Irish Hotels Federation was on the record as saying that this was one of the first weekends of the year where all hotels in the city are booked up. Gardaí urged motorists to avoid the Croke Park area in the lead-up to the concerts especially on Monday when Ikea opens in Ballymun and Dublin city's new bus gate at Trinity College opens. Unfortunately, heavy showers are forecast for Friday, though Saturday should be a better day. Monday is likely to see more of the same so fans are asked to dress for the weather.
July 22, 200915 yr Author http://www.independent.ie/entertainment/ne...76.html?start=1 http://i28.tinypic.com/dmfurb.jpg U2 clawing their way to the top of capital's skyline Work continues on U2's giant 'Claw' stage for their upcoming 360 tour gigs at Croke Park. The main stage will reach above the stands in the stadium once its central 'antenna' is attached. By Fiach Kelly Wednesday July 22 2009 IT'S clearly a stage to grip the imagination. U2's 'Claw' was beginning to make its mark on the north Dublin skyline yesterday ahead of the band's three concerts in Croke Park, the first of which takes place this Friday. Crews of workmen, teams of cranes and legions of forklifts busied themselves on the Jones's Road pitch, which has been uprooted for the concerts, as the distinctive set began to take shape at GAA headquarters. Although not yet complete, and without its distinctive wraparound video screen and inner and outer stages, the main stage almost reached above the main stands in the stadium, and looks certain to do so once its central 'antenna' is attached. The figures are by now familiar: it's 50 metres high, weighs 390 tonnes, costs €100m and requires 180 trucks to move it from venue to venue. It is also a triplet, and while one claw is being put through its paces by the band (as one was in Amsterdam last night), another is being constructed at a different venue and a third is being transported to a different venue again. "The show itself is probably the most sophisticated show we've gone on the road with," the Edge said yesterday. He told Gerry Ryan on RTE Radio that the latest 360 tour was all about breaking down barriers between the band and their audience. "That sort of spirit and that wish to make a connection . . . because that's what this band has always attempted to do, to break down the barrier," he said. "And this production is particularly helpful for us in doing that. A U2 show is really about creating that connection and, so far, that's been one of the real features of these shows -- that communal sense within the building." He jokingly said they had been "playing a few warm-up shows before Dublin" that had been "terrifying but compelling". Rehearsal The band is not due to arrive in Dublin until Friday and they are not expected to go through a full rehearsal at Croke Park. The build-up to the concert has not been entirely controversy-free, however, as some fans were disappointed that the full 360 show will not be put in full effect over the three Dublin dates. Hill 16, which forms a backdrop to the stage, will remain empty for the concerts. Residents in the Croke Park area have also been angered by extensive late-night works at the stadium to get it ready. Organisers MCD yesterday advised anyone heading to the concerts to use public transport and asked those driving to use city centre car parks. - Fiach Kelly
July 22, 200915 yr You can see Hill 16 clearly from that pic. People stand on it all the tim during matches. I dont see why they cant for the gigs. its not as if the bloody Prodgity are playing  And why is the stage down that end? Put it in the middle so people can stand around it. <_< Yes, Croker is this weekend. Only two more sleeps away  What do you make of the setlist changes? It is great isnt it? Just in time for Croker too, now there isnt the predictability.
July 22, 200915 yr Author I sense your excitement. :w00t: My concert seems soooooooooooo far away :( And where is Twinky's review? :o
July 23, 200915 yr Author http://www.herald.ie/entertainment/music/i...le-1836556.html It's the greatest show on earth and tickets for U2's Croker gigs are still available By Lloyd Murphy Thursday July 23 2009 A limited number of tickets are still available for two of U2's Croke Park dates, which open with a blast tomorrow. Fans can still snap up tickets for the show tomorrow and Monday night at prices between €91.50 and €132.50 but Saturday's show has been sold out. U2's hopes of giving their home fans a full "360 degree" concert have also floundered, despite the bands best intentions, leaving some fans disappointed. The organisers yesterday insisted they tried to open Hill 16 to fans, but were prevented due to health and safety restrictions. U2's tour director Craig Evans admitted: "It's a shame. We are subject to the design and physical limitations of every stadium that we play in. "With the power, with the access that goes in that area, with the safety requirements of what we had, and with the sound requirements of what we had playing over, this stadium just doesn't allow for it." Work continued on the massive four-legged Claw stage in preparation for tomorrow's opening gig in what has been described as the biggest show in rock history. Promoter MCD's spokesman Justin Green said fans were coming from as far away as Brazil, Japan, Canada and the US to watch U2 play their home town and the event was attracting 300 foreign media personnel. Gardai outlined a detailed traffic plan for the event and have urged motorists to avoid the Croke Park area in the lead up to the concerts. Event controller Sophie Ridley said 800 stewards would be safeguarding the Croker crowd along with 150 gardai. Friday will start bright and sunny, but there is a likelihood of showers which could turn heavy. The showers are due to die out during the evening, leaving the night cool and dry. Saturday should be a better day, with good sunny spells, and little chance of rain developing. Monday will bring more sunshine with only some scattered showers around the country but it is thought that Dublin will miss out on the worst of this. U2 have already played six gigs on their 360 tour, most recently at the Amsterdam Arena in Holland, on Tuesday night. hnews@herald.ie
