Posted February 17, 200916 yr The Sounds 'Crossing the Rubicon' May 2009 Official Website // Myspace Yayayayay! So many of my favourite artists returning this year. Their last album is one of my favourite ever so I'm very much looking forward to this. They're supporting No Doubt on tour as well this year, ooo.
February 17, 200916 yr Nice part-ayyy band though they'll really never release a stunning album. Still, excitedddd. Hope it's as good as Living in America.
February 17, 200916 yr :o EXCITING STUFF I only have 'Dying to Say This to You' but absolutely LOVE that - 'Tony the Beat', 'Painted by Numbers' and 'Queen of Apology' are FANTASTIC
February 17, 200916 yr Oh fabulous!!! I had been wondering where they'd got to when I dug out their album the other day. Will be looking forward to the new CD. ^_^
February 21, 200916 yr 3g_blhq_N0s No One Sleeps When I'm Awake Pretty bad live vocals, but sounds alright...
March 17, 200916 yr Author I don't know. I quite like the start and it's very well produced (maybe over produced?) but it doesn't sound right to me. It's a good minute too long and never really gets going. Not really proper Sounds for me...
March 26, 200916 yr I always liked the new single. Very standard, Sounds-by-numbers (no pun..) but by no means a bad song. Going to watch them in a few hours too, vv excited for the Van ;o
March 26, 200916 yr I always liked the new single. Very standard, Sounds-by-numbers (no pun..) but by no means a bad song. Going to watch them in a few hours too, vv excited for the Van ;o The new single is a deperature though :o It's one of their first proper midtempo songs and the riffage/breakdown is not typical Sounds either I'd argue. It's quite emotional too, rather than their normal "I didn't give a shish" attitude". How was Pete swtp?
March 28, 200916 yr Author The new single has grown on me as well. I've been listening to them a lot more lately, forgot how great they actually are. 'Hurt You' is wow.
April 8, 200916 yr I hated The Sounds sophomore album. I hope this new one is as good as their first at least.
May 25, 200916 yr I think it's quite poor tbf. Some HORRIBLE lyrics and a general level of forgetability. None of the tracks really stand out and that 80s lite lyrics ('Beatbox' and its referencing of 'Tony the Beat' = :/ *cringe*) THAT SAID they have always been a party band and are pretty fantastic live. This album is their most "below par" to date though. It hasn't the energy of their debut nor the catchiness of the follow-up. Disappointing.
