Posted February 28, 200916 yr Anyone seen this? I've been tonight.... Basically a girl is haunted by her twin that died in the womb... but there's some strange Auschwitz backstory :heehee: Kind of a thin plot, but well worth seeing : 8/10 :o xdABuFweoxg Edited February 28, 200916 yr by James.
March 1, 200916 yr It looks really retarded from the trailer, especially when you see that old man twist his head and come for that girl LOL. I was laughing at just the trailer tbh. But still, I may go see it.
March 1, 200916 yr Author It looks really retarded from the trailer, especially when you see that old man twist his head and come for that girl LOL. I was laughing at just the trailer tbh. But still, I may go see it. LOL, the old man bit is much better in the film.. it actually makes sense
March 1, 200916 yr Seems a fairly middling effort, but still, at least it actually is an original script and not another remake.... Might give it a go during the week....
March 1, 200916 yr The trailer annoys me so much, ive seen it too many times... The part where the dude says "You couldve had a twin brother but he died..." just makes me cringe his voice is :/ Edited March 1, 200916 yr by Joao.
March 1, 200916 yr "You couldve had a twin brother but he died..." just makes me cringe his voice is :/ That just has to be one of the STOOOPIDEST lines in a film, ever..... It's almost as funny as the line in "Plan 9 From Outer Space" - "Inspector Clay is dead....Murdered....AND SOMEBODY'S RESPONSIBLE".....ROFLMAO.... But at least "Plan 9.." was almost designed to be silly, grotty, low-budget cr@p, and made by a bloke (the 'legendary' Ed Wood) who was a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic by all accounts..... The fact that somebody far more rational and professional actually sat down and wrote that line is far more disturbing in so many ways..... And just WHAT THE HELL is Gary Oldman doing in this film.....?  Was he short on the month's rent....? Did the director have compormising photos of him and a labrador or summat.......?
March 1, 200916 yr You've not even seen this and you're already criticising a big name for appearing in it. Sad. 8.5/10. Not as teen-aimed as I expected. Even though I was a little lost in the whole ghost inhabiting bodies plot, it was at interesting and well-acted (especially by Meagan Good who lived up to her name).
March 1, 200916 yr I went to see it yesterday but I couldnt really concentrate on it properly because the cinema was filled with kids laughing all the way through it....so I will wait until there is a decent download and watch it again
March 2, 200916 yr You've not even seen this and you're already criticising a big name for appearing in it. Sad. Because Gary Oldman isn't usually associated with this sort of rather middling, rather average horror fare (and I am more than familiar with David Goyer's material to actually make this judgement call).... It's a bit like Lawrence Olivier appearing in Hammer Horror films, or Joe Pesci doing a chick flick..... Oldman did Coppola's "Dracula", but that's a classic role which suited his form of method acting.. I really dont see this film being any better than the other films Goyer wrote/directed - The Invisible or Blade - Trinity, or his TV work (the pretty okay Threshold). He's efficient, but rather unremarkable ... Oldman, however, IS a remarkable actor and it's rather obvious that he's playing below his capabilities, I dont need to see the film to know this, because it's been done a thousand times before, directors making their 'okay', but not exactly great films appear more exciting by getting some left-field or more edgy talent involved, I mean, Robert Downey Jr in "Tropic Thunder" anyone.....? I think Goyer is quite clearly using Oldman to make people sit up and take notice (the fact that Oldman is even in it, is my only reason for even wanting to go to the cinema to see this film, otherwise, I'd prob just download it...) The only reason I went to see My Bloody Valentine (apart from the 3-D and the fact that with an unlimited card I dont pay actual cash money for films at the cinema) was to see one of the guys from Supernatural... I rather wished I hadn't to be honest, Jenson Ackles totally played beneath himself in that one, frankly, he just looked rather bored and uninterested, as well he might, the material he was given was utter sh!te, the worst episode of Supernatural had a better story than that piece of cr@p....
March 2, 200916 yr the cinema was filled with kids laughing all the way through it.... Hmmm, not exactly the sort of reaction you want for a "horror" film really is it......?  You cant even say that this has the post-modern irony or the spoof elements of "Scream" can you.....? Or the intended humour in the 'Blade' or 'Hellboy' films....

Exactly, we paid 30-odd quid to go cinemas on saturday (altho i did go over the top on pick n mix :heehee: ) and it was pretty much wasted because of them. I noticed that vue now do over 18 only screenings so I'll probably go to one of those next time...so long as it isnt late at night  I just want to sleep when I go to the cinema's too late  I feel old for saying this but....bloody kids ruined my day
March 2, 200916 yr CHRIST this was bloody awful. Worst film I've seen in a good 3 months. Perhaps the worst since PREMONITION. Gaspp
March 2, 200916 yr OOH I'm going to see this on Wednesday, not my sort of film at ALL, I usually stay far away from horror flicks in general. It seems I may have nothing to worry about though :heehee:
March 4, 200916 yr OOH I'm going to see this on Wednesday, not my sort of film at ALL, I usually stay far away from horror flicks in general. It seems I may have nothing to worry about though :heehee: You dont really... Saw it last night... Frankly, I've seen scarier chick flicks.... I know the likes of Blade (which Goyer co-wrote) aren't exactly "scary", but at least those films (well, the first two anyway..) had good, interesting storylines and memorable characters, as well as some excellent action sequences (especially the second film directed by Guillermo Del Toro..), The Unborn really has nothing of the sort that makes it stand out or really all that memorable... Oldman just plods along not seeming particularly interested (really, his part could've been played by someone like Craig Fairbrass or Sean Bean...), and the lead actress is just so interchangeable with about a hundred other similar actresses..... I put it alongside films like White Noise, that kind of crappy "One Missed Call" remake, or The Forgotten.... Okay for the duration of watching, it doesn't make you want to get up and leave, but you leave the cinema thinking "well, meh.....". It wasn't as good as "Mirrors".... And it does try so desperately hard to be like a Japanese or Korean horror film, it's kind of funny.....
March 4, 200916 yr Perhaps the worst since PREMONITION. It wasn't quite that bad..... Premonition was just so utterly inept and made absolutely no kind of sense at all, a "Butterfly Effect" rip-off for idiots..... This film does have a certain kind of logic behind it, it's just not all that great is all... A middle-of-the road effort as opposed to complete sh!te like "Premonition" was.....
March 4, 200916 yr Exactly, we paid 30-odd quid to go cinemas on saturday Bloody hell.... I really am glad I invested in a Cineworld Unlimited card...... You dont have any Cineworld cinemas anywhere near you.....? Seriously, pay your £15 per month and you're sorted.....
March 4, 200916 yr I'll give this a miss then as you've all put me off. Anyway 15 horrors are never any good. At least if it's an 18 you're going to get some blood and gore and hopefully some boobies too! Edited March 4, 200916 yr by Crazy Chris
March 4, 200916 yr Bloody hell.... I really am glad I invested in a Cineworld Unlimited card...... You dont have any Cineworld cinemas anywhere near you.....? Seriously, pay your £15 per month and you're sorted..... yeah we usually go to the cineworld in bolton. we were going to get one of those cards but since my bf got his own place we've hardly been to the cinemas and usually wait until there is a decent download copy available. i think the last time we went was to see saw5.....and we used to go every week  I think if there was a cineworld near stoke then i would think about getting one of those cards as i'm at home in the week and could go on mondays or when i finish work because there is nothing like watching a film at the cinema (unless kids are laughing at the 'scary parts  )
