Album received 3/5 in Q magazine. Not bad I suppose...

I think 'Kings of Medicine' is calling for a name change. It's TOO good. Definitely my favourite on the album now!

To be honest I only don't like that much these songs: Kitty Litter, Breathe Underwater and Ashtray Heart. And I can't even say I don't like them, just like less then others.

Thoughts after one listen...

 

The sound and Brian's gorgeous vocals are as spot on as ever, on certain tracks they're in danger of becoming a parody of themselves particularly in 'Bright Lights' where they appear to re-use old lyrics and it's probably my least favourite track on the album, and on 'Come Undone' lyrics seem to be rhymed for the sake of it, there's something about 'Ashtray Heart' that isn't clicking for me at the moment either.

 

However the album has shimmering highlights (aside from the two tracks I already knew; 'Battle For The Sun' and 'For What It's Worth'), 'Speak In Tongues', 'Devil In The Details', 'The Never-Ending Why', 'Happy You're Gone', 'Breathe Underwater' and the last track 'Kings Of Medicine' which is lyrically one of the strongest on here.

 

I trust it will grow on me more, but for now it's a strong enough effort but quite far from their best.

#6 in the midweeks. :D Pretty good, I hope it can remain top 10 though.

Still number 6 in todays midweeks so i'm sure it will stay top 10 which is great. with a bit of luck it will make number 5 and if not #6 at the lowest

It definitely won't climb I wouldn't have thought, but it would be amazing if it could hold where it is until the end of the week.

 

Also I can see why 'Speak In Tongues' is Brian's favourite song on this album, it's probably mine too at the moment. :wub:

I havnt had a chance to buy the album but my plan is buy it on friday when im in tesco
