Lady GaGa scores her second No1 of 2009.

04 01 Lady GaGa Poker Face

After a brief stumble last week; 23-year-old New Yorker Lady GaGa known as Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta to her mother; reaches the summit today with Poker Face the second single from her No3 debut album The Fame.

After studying arts at a college of New York University she started to pen material for artists such as The Pussycat Dolls through Interscope records. Soon after singer-songwriter and record producer Akon picked up on her vocal talents and signed her jointly to his Kon Live Distribution Label.

By climbing three places Lady GaGa becomes the first artist since Timbaland in 2007 to record a second successive No1 from a released album; following Just Dance’s three-week stint at the top in January; a major achievement with the current dominance of new material. So far Poker Face has moved 30-26-28-24-22-15-3-3-4-1- and looks like embarking in a substantial run at the top.

02 02 Flo Rida Feat. Ke$ha Right Round

Floridian rapper Flo Rida narrowly misses out on a swift return to the top spot, as Right Round has to settle for the runners up spot for a second week in a row 1-2-2-. While download sales remain close with those of Lady GaGa with the physical release of Right Round today/tomorrow it raises the possibility that it could yet still reclaim the top spot.

Islands In The Stream becomes the third single to spend a solitary week at No1 the longest such run since McFly, Fedde Le Grand, Westlife and Akon each spent a week at No1 in succession in November 2006.

Rounding out the top10: The Saturday’s dip a place with their Comic Relief effort Just Can’t Get Enough 2-3-4-. Country-pop singer-songwriter Taylor Swift holds for a third week at No5 22-2-5-5-5- which is the longest run at No5 since The Fray’s How To Save A Life spent four consecutive weeks at No5 in early 2007.

Meanwhile T.I. Feat. Justin Timberlake Dead And Gone goes back up one place to No6: 58-47-30-17-4-6-7-6- after four weeks in the top10; Kelly Clarkson’s former No1 My Life Would Suck Without You is down another place to No7 1-4-6-7-; Kings Of Leon’s epic chart run with Use Somebody continues with a 13th non-consecutive week inside the top10 falling 8-10- in it’s 26th week inside the top50 which is unprecedented since the 1950’s.
