It's not confirmed yet, but they've been TBC for ages on efestivals, and I was checking through my emails just now and I found an email saying to check the website at 7pm for a very important festival announcement.

Thoughts? Are you going/planning to go? Are you going to watch on TV etc.?

I'm PRAYING I can get a Reading ticket tonight! Line-up at 6pm so I'll be glued to my computer then!

Arctic monkeys have self confirmed :w00t:

Arctic Monkeys have been revealed as one of the headliners for this year's Reading and Leeds festivals.

The Sheffield indie band will preview material from their highly anticipated third studio album at the weekend events.

According to the group's official website, they will play Leeds on Friday, August 28 and Reading on Saturday, August 29.

Reading and Leeds take place on August 28, 29 and 30.

Full lineup details for the festivals will be revealed at 7pm tonight. Tickets go on sale at the same time.

Other acts rumoured to be playing the event include Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Glasvegas, Doves, Kaiser Chiefs and Maximo Park.

we could only see it from miles away

may see them, depends on whos headlining Lock Up that night.

Well I'm definitely gonna be there to see them for the third time now as I have my ticket :cheer:

im starting to think i will most likley see them as i'll be at the front for The Prodigy so might aswell stay, sounds like NME stage has Gossip/Glasvegas at the same time, so unless Lock Up has someone like Rancid, i'll most likley see Arctics (for the second time ;o).

I was watching the vids of Reading 2006, when i last saw them, after they were annouced yesterday so i quite want to see them again now lol.

Arctic Monkeys have told NME.COM they can't wait to headline the Reading And Leeds Festivals this summer, because it's the one they all went to when they were younger.

The band will top bill at the August Bank Holiday event (August 28-30) with Kings Of Leon and Radiohead.

Speaking to NME.COM from New York, where the band are currently recording, bassist Nick O'Malley said Arctic Monkeys were relishing the chance to headline the event.

"It's a great festival and we are raging with excitement in the old brain box to be playing it this year," he declared.

"Reading And Leeds was the first festival us and our mates ever went to back when we were 16 - well, Leeds that is, not Reading! - and I've been every year since then. We're really looking forward to it!"

The videos been edited now, but there was a video where Diddy said he was going to join Arctic Monkeys at Reading and Leeds!!!

Thoughts?!

that would be epic lulz.

im pretty sure im gonna see them now, i perfer Monkeys to Rise Against and you couldnt pay me to see The Gossip  so unless FR stage has someone amazing (which i doubt, compared to AM anyway) then im pretty sure im gonna see them, especially as i want tpo be up the front for The Prodigy before hand (mightaswell stay there lol).

The video was removed, so i've no idea why. It wouldn't suprise me tbh, i've been watching loads of blogs from Diddy of late and he really does seem to love Matt Helders and James Ford, so we'll see. It really wouldn't suprise me, but we'll just see.

And I am definitely seeing them. Friday at Leeds is going to be epic.

Arctic Monkeys are to play at the O2 Brixton Academy in London on Wednesday, August 26.

The gig will be the first time the 'Crying Lightning' rockers have performed in the UK since December 2007.

Tickets for the performance will only be allocated to members of the band's mailing list and fans have until midnight tomorrow to register. Successful applicants will be notified on the following day and tickets will be limited to two per person.

The show is believed to be a warm-up for the group's headline slot at Reading and Leeds Festival, which takes place on August 28 to August 30.

:o!

I've won tickets! :cheer:

Though I also go to Reading that day because I have early birds, dunno whether to give up my early birds and go or not :(

Hmm personally i'd give the tickets up. It's not like you won't see them at Reading anyway.

One week today i'll be seeing them! :D

I think I've decided to give them up especially as I have to pay for them too! Plus I payed £10 for the early birds!

Reading it is :D

them crooked vultures are doing the brixton show, which has basically confirmed the secret show at Reading, after Patrick Wolf. oh damn excitement.
rofl at half the brixton crowd leaving after Them Crooked Vultures.

Aye I caught Them Crooked Vultures at Leeds too. They were proper good.

MAJORLY disappointed by Arctic Monkeys. :( I knew they'd play a lot of Humbug but EIGHT SONGS AT A FESTIVAL + A B-SIDE. Wrong choice imo. The crowd was just stood there listening, whilst I was singing away. I think when they did an Encore as well and played Dance Little Liar and 505 a lot of people got quite annoyed. I knew they'd never play Mardy Bum, and there was only a small chance they'd play A Certain Romance, but people were calling out for them to be played. Can't believe they didn't play Leave Before The Lights Come On or Teddy Picker either!

Best songs for me: When The Sun Goes Down and This House is a Circus
