I just can't agree with this. So I have gone through the album charts and other sites to check which albums were released this year as I was mainly listening to good old long players at this point in my life. Of course there were tracks that I liked but did not truly represent the year for me.

SO here goes in no particular order:

Throwing a HUGE shadow over the whole of 1990 was The Stone Roses (even though it was released the year before)

Happy Mondays - Pills, Thrills n Bellyaches

Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas

Neil Young - Ragged Glory

Mazzy Star - She Hangs Brightly

Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual

Julee Cruise - Floating into the Night

The Pixies - Bossanova

The La's - The La's

Nick Cave - The Good Son

Sinead O'Connor - I Do Not Want....

The Sundays - Reading, Writing and Arithmetic

Bass-o-matic - Set the Controls...

Ride - Nowhere

The Breeders - Pod

James - Gold Mother

Babes in Toyland - Spanking Machine

Beloved - Happiness

The Shamen - En-tact

The Charlatans - Some Friendly

Quireboys - A Bit of What You Fancy

The Black Crowes - Shake Your Moneymaker

The Fall - Extricate

Prong - Beg to Differ

Sonic Youth - Goo

Mother Love Bone - Apple

Soup Dragons - Lovegod

Anthrax - Persistence of Time

Alice in Chains - Facelift

The Sisters of Mercy - Vision Thing

The House of Love - The House of Love

Pop Will Eat Itself - Cure for Sanity

Revolting Cocks - Beers, Steers and Queers

Iggy Pop - Brick By Brick

Kings X - Faith, Hope and Love

Loop - A Gilded Eternity

Edie Brickell - Ghost of a Dog

The High - Somewhere Soon

The Almighty - Blood, Fire and Love

The Mission - Carved in Sand

Faith No More - Epic

The Cramps - Stay Sick

Thunder - Back Street Symphony

Sonic Boom - Spectrum

Depeche Mode - Violator

That Petrol Emotion - Chemicrazy

Lenny Kravitz - Let Love Rule

Judas Priest - Painkiller

Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss

New Model Army - Impurity

Fileds of the Nephilim - Elysium

Lard - The Last Temptation of Reid

Levellers - A Weapon Called the Word

I think that's a fairly representative list of what I liked then and includes some absolute classics. I did the same thing for 1999 coz that was my worst year on record and I came up with just over half the amount which is why I really think 1999 was a terrible year.

so you liked them tracks from 1990.... i didnt! you rate them tracks/acts as great... i dont!

i hated the flavour of music in 1990, i didnt rate the madchester indie scene as it was IMHO third rate 60's revival music. the la's blatantly pinching the byrds sound, whilst groups like velvet underground are heavily reprisented in others.... maybe id have rated it IF i wasnt so keen on the original 60's material.

so ..... viva la differance! :)
