Posted April 1, 200916 yr Mmmm.... Presumably this is for her own enjoyment as opposed to trying to make an impact on the charts. Andrea failed, so I doubt a solo album from the violinist is going to do much. I'd expect a more classical sound rather than pop. As an aside, I always thought Sharon was the prettiest in the band.
April 1, 200916 yr Sharon looks a tad mumsy. Andrea was always the fit one. :o I still wouldn't say no though. I like women 'of a certain age'. I'll check it out, but honestly, I just want The Corrs back. This hiatus is lasting much too long for my liking.
April 1, 200916 yr My thoughts as above: if Andrea can't do it, Sharon doesn't have a chance. But if this is just for her personal interest & Corrs fans, she should be happy :) But, yes. Bring back The Corrs.

There's a resemblance to your beloved Orla Brady I think. I'd LOVE The Corrs back but a) I don't see it happening. B.) If they do, I think it would primarily be touring rather than new material. Their workrate definitely slowed after 2000. c) I'd only want them back if they did it PROPERLY. I think they'd need to update their sound rather than just recycling the plasticky pop we were getting a la Summer Sunshine/Would You Be Happier. Edited April 1, 200916 yr by Shoat
April 1, 200916 yr I sort of agree, but I think (in the minority, I realise) that Borrowed Heaven is their best album. The three singles were three of their best, Baby Be Brave is their best song barr none. It's a genius album, better than In Blue. Another album with a hybrid of summery and darker moments like that and I'd be well pleased. Summer Sunshine was a decent hit too! Obviously they'd need more edge now though. They're still well-liked amongst the public and still have a lot of potential to do something really great...

I'll agree that Borrowed Heaven has the edge over In Blue, but I don't think it comes close to Forgiven Not Forgotten or Talk On Corners. The Corrs strike me as being in the same position as Texas. Peaked in the 90s, but as you say, still well-liked by the public. However, they're liked for their past hits, and I think any new material is going to struggle to sell. They're just not fashionable enough anymore to gain any widespread support in the media anymore, which is essential really.
April 2, 200916 yr Sharon :o how fantastic, she's great I always preferred her to Andrea, but slightly preferred Caroline over the pair of them

April 2, 200916 yr True, but it wasn't even fashionable in 2004 was it? Summer Sunshine's sound was exactly flavour of the month, but it still did well. I think whilst they have a fanbase remaining and enjoy making music, it's daft not to...

I think whilst they have a fanbase remaining and enjoy making music, it's daft not to... I guess not...I think they could still have big albums (a la Ronan Keating) with the support of commercial radio and Radio 2 just not such big singles... they are very family focused now though, particularly Caroline, so I don't see them doing a full scale reunion/tour but an album and a few appearances wouldn't hurt -_-
July 25, 200915 yr Author Well apparantly her debut single is this, It's Not A Dream, acoustic version below. Her site says its out on download at the end of August. It's pleasant enough, but not anything earth-shattering to be honest. #567 smash hit. WveKtlGKkzg
August 9, 200915 yr So...Sharon, the violinist/backing singer, from my favourite band ever, The Corrs, has gone solo and her album is due out in October. The lead single 'It's Not A Dream' is currently A-List on Radio 2 and is out to download at the end of the month...I'm sure it will be a #245 SMASH but it is actually, a gorgeous song, I was very pleasantly surprised, although I've only heard the live performance so far, not heard the studio version yet... D-ODgbzjjCk still looking exactly the same  she has a very warm voice, she has sung lead on a few Corrs songs which are amongst my favourites; No Frontiers and Dimming Of The Day most notably, so hopefully this album won't go completely unnoticed, I would love a Sharleen Spiteri style hit for the album, not that it will happen of course :snif:
August 9, 200915 yr Yeap, sounds nice, id quite like to hear the studio version aswell now. Though tbh if Andrea can only get to #89 or wherever Shame On You got to then Sharon really doesnt stand a chance.
August 9, 200915 yr As a Radio 2 listener I have heard it a few times. To be honest musically it is more like the Corrs than Andrea's solo album was.
August 9, 200915 yr The studio version is great. Andreas album did seem to fail but if you look at Sharon Corrs forum on her website sharoncorr.com and on her Twitter she has a lot of dedicated fans. I really like the song, it's getting loads of air play coz it was put on the A List for BBC radio 2 also getting good air play in ireland ...obviously because she's home grown material! Have to say i like the new song. I saw her on This Morning on ITV a few weeks ago so checked out the website, she has this series of videos to show what she's been up to, has done a cover of Bronski Beat "Small town boy" and on this morning she did "Everybody's got to learn sometime" Fair play to her trying to go solo after the corrs success and after a break off to have kids! Glad i discovered she's going solo!
August 9, 200915 yr apologies for starting this post, didn't notice the other one, could somebody combine if they see fit to merci :D
August 9, 200915 yr Author It is VERY Corrs-ish, and yes #245 here we go :( But it is pleasant enough, maybe the album could shift a few copies with Radio 2's help.
August 9, 200915 yr As a Radio 2 listener I have heard it a few times. To be honest musically it is more like the Corrs than Andrea's solo album was. That's probably what the hardcore fans want though! presumably she learnt a few things from andreas failure. If you see her website she has such a big following internationally! apologies for starting this post, didn't notice the other one, could somebody combine if they see fit to merci :D Sorry i was just thrawling through posts and saw the other one, didn't even notice this one! a merge could be good!
August 9, 200915 yr I'm keeping everything crossed for her, if only because I can't actually live without Corrs related music in my life :heehee:
