July 16, 200916 yr My mate just came back from the concert and he said, they were "f***ing awesome". Ill let Chris and Grimly be the judge of that
July 16, 200916 yr Author i'll go into more detail tomorrow, only just got home lol, but it was amazing, crowd was pretty brutal near the front (lost my phone :( ).
July 16, 200916 yr The show was awesome! I went to the O2 a bit late (around 8 pm). I obviously preferred to catch up with some friends instead of seeing Mew or Jane's Addiction). I'm not a big fan of either of them anyway. I came into the arena during the last JA song which was a perfect timing because after the song a few people left to the restroom or to grab a beer This made it easier to make it to the front of the stage. I managed to reach 6th or 7th row from the stage. When NIN came out a was completely blown away by the sound in the venue. This was my first time in the O2 and I don't think I've been to an arena with better sound quality! NIN really kicked ass. Trent was absolutely wet 3 minutes into the show :D It was really hot in there!!! The people around me were pretty aggressive and moshing most of the time. At some point I was a bit concerned about the girl I was with. She was getting completely squashed. The setlist was pretty cool. They played a total of 23 songs. However I must admit I preferred the setlist they played in Amsterdam a week ago (including In This Twilight), I'm not complaining though. The highlights for me were Gave Up, The Hand that Feeds and Head Like a Hole. + of course the surprise guest performances. Gary Newman joined NIN for 2 songs (Metal and Cars) and I think he did awesome! The crowd really enjoyed him IMO! Unsurprisingly the concerted ended with Hurt and everybody singing along :) By the end of the concert I was soaking wet and had NO voice (couldn't speak for the next 3 hours) :D Here's the setlist from the show: Now I'm Nothing Terrible Lie 1,000,000 Heresy March of the Pigs Reptile The Becoming I'm Afraid Of Americans Burn Gave Up La Mer The Fragile Non-Entity The Big Come Down The Downward Spiral Wish Survivalism Down In It Gary Newman + NIN - Metal Gary Newman + NIN - Cars The Hand That Feeds Head Like A Hole Hurt Edited July 16, 200916 yr by NoiseAddict
July 16, 200916 yr Author WELL, that was pretty epic wasnt it, first of all Mew, the 2 songs i saw were good, they are definatly better sounding live, their music really comes out. Next, Jane's Addiction, very good, the played amazingly, was really impressed and Perry has a great stage presence, I loved their intro aswell. But obviously Nine Inch Nails destroyed the place, at first I was confused with the house lights being on at the start, but then it turned out a pretty good idea lol, then with the first few songs I went absolutly mental, Terrible Lie was amazing, I got really near the front, was rather brutal, and then at the end of 1,000,000 i noticed, i had lost my phone :manson: so I went a bit less... mental but i tried to not let it bother me. Glad they played Heresy, March of the Pigs was mental, Reptile was a nice surprise, wasnt expecting it, I dont think they have played it this tour. The Becoming was awesome, one of the best tracks live, and a current favourite of mine, I enjoyed Im Afraid of Americans more than I thought I would, Burn is really good live, during Gave Up I nearly broke something, the pit was mental. La Mer and the Fragile were rather erm, touching, played brilliantly, Big Come Down was good. The last half an hour or so (from Wish to the end) was when the show was at its best, amazing song after amazing song, crowd was nuts for Wish, really shouting the lyrics, the survivalism was so fun live, everyone jumping and going nuts, then DOWN IN IT, was a real highlight, one of the best tracks of the night, was really glad they played it. THEN GARY f***ING NUMAN, pretty shocked, I knew they would play Metal, but I wasnt expecting Numan to come on stage, then I wasnt expecting Cars either, one of the best live momments ever seeing Nine Inch Nails WITH Gary Numan on stage singing Cars together was amazing, and had a great crowd reaction! Hand That Feeds was good, it has a special place in my heart as its the song that really got me into NIN, Head Like A Hole was predictable, have they never not ended with it? really good anywaym and then Hurt was breathtaking, just like the last time i saw them do Hurt live, although I think Hurt was better last time, the majority was Trent solo on a keyboard, and then towards the end all the other instruments came in and the lights went all bright, but in general last night was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than last time. It was a wave goodbye, I am sad to see a band who are so good live to be stopping and that it will be the last time I will ever see them, you can tell Trent was really passionate on stage. 10/10 easy. shame about my phone though.

A very fair review.... I can honestly say that this is the best NIN show I've been to since I saw them in the early 90s..... It was my FIFTH time seeing this band, and it really was worth it... A certain sense of sadness that I'll probably never see them again, but, hey ho..... The Gary Numan moment was brilliant and totally unexpected.... Awesome.... And even though it was like I was watching four ants on stage from where I was (the UPPER FUKKIN' TIER....), we kind of made the best of it... Unfortunately my mates were on the other side of the bloody venue (but it wasn't so bad, we just bounced texts back off each other after about every song....LOL..), but I did get into a bit of "moshy" bit where I was... Yes, people actually managed to bounce around and mosh a bit on the upper flooor......  The O2 itself - Okay, a really pretty impressive venue, I mean, you dont really get a proper idea of how massive the place actually is unless you're on the upper tier, and you actually see the whole thing, but god, that place is HUGE..... Only trouble is, they really needed to put screens on for us lot 'upstairs' so we could actually see what was going on onstage.... And, just what is it with cr@p venue beer???? You basically had a choice of Becks Vier on tap, or, er, Becks in bottles...... Christ, in the Chinese restaurant I was at in the dome they had a better selection.... And, I was rather amused by the continuous announcements.... "Ladies and Gentlemen, Nine Inch Nails will be onstage in approximately.....minutes, please make your way to your seats...."  Very professional, almost like an theatre intermission or summat. Even the security staff were nice in that place instead of the usual growling you get.... The scramble to get on tubes an buses after the show....Er, not fun...... I see you and Alex got home alright then Chris.... Cool meeting up with you....

Oh, I've been a LOT closer to the stage at other gigs, so I've been "up close and personal" with Trent.... ;) Brixton Academy show a few years back there were maybe only about three or four people in front of me... Getting stuck in Paddington is never a good thing..... Sorry you were waiting around for me by the way mate, but I had no idea you'd lost your phone, I was just feeling a bit knackered by the end of it tbh.... And, I'd kind of had a few ciders by that point as well.....

The cheeky b'astard who was dossing about outside Waterloo was going "you got a spare tenner....?" to everyone passing  I almost quipped... "Nah, I dont usually have to pay for blowjobs mate....."
