The Veronicas have never had a hit single in the UK - haven't even charted.and they are classed as cheap. So I think Lily is cheap. She's a popular artist who everyone knows and is easy to search for her demos. That's just my opinion, though it doesn't mean I like her any less or would give her less points. I'm not against cheap.

 

Personally I don't regard The Veronicas as cheap due to them not having had any UK success. However they are manifestively Buzzjack friendly.

 

But if you think an indiepop star (remember she is worshipped by the likes of NME but has happened to cross over to the mainstream) like Lily Allen demos 6 or more months before the album is released is cheap; then my goodness The Veronicas are far more cheaper.

 

After all they are a mainstream pop girl duo who have worked with internationally acclaimed songwriters and producers including Clif Magness (who has written for Avril Lavigne), Billy Steinberg (Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna) & Max Martin (Britney Spears, Katy Perry, P!nk, Kelly Clarkson).

 

Whilst they are huge in their native Australia scoring 7 Top 10 hits (including Hook Me Up OZ#01 in 2007 (7th in BJSC III); This Love OZ#10 2008 (6th in BJSC IX); Untouched OZ#02 & USA#17 2007 (4th in BJSC XIV) from their two Australian #2 Platinum selling albums.

 

In short entering The Veronicas for this contest is like an Australian female pop friendly site having someone enter Girls Aloud or on an American female pop friendly site having someone enter the Sugababes.

Any act who's had four BJSC top 10s is quite clearly cheap as they're seen as a definite hit. As is any act who's come in the top 3 twice! Lily Allen and The Veronicas are certainnly both cheap artists in my eyes!

Thank you! But like I said, I don't have a problem with cheap, and it won't affect how many points I give it, and I also don't care how cheap the Veronicas are: Lily Allen is CHEAP!

I still think Lily is in same league of cheapness as sending Britney demo or GA demo.

Lily Allen and The Veronicas are both incredibly cheap...though I don't think Hook Me Up was overly cheap at the time when I sent it, neither was This Love. After that...

 

I wouldn't consider I Don't Know cheap at the time, but if someone sent a Lily Allen demo in today's contest I would. She's huge. Loved by Buzzjack. Cheapzz.

I've been considering Tegan & Sara for a few contests and they seem to have been relegated to back-up entry a bit. Maybe I should just send it now or maybe I should go for MPHO. I'm not sure how it'll go down, it's one of my moments where I don't know if it's awful or brilliant. It kinda reminds me of Jupiter Rising - Electropop, which flopped, perhaps it needs a bit of remastering too. :thinking:

Oh yes, just saw that. I randomly came across her on Twitter, of all places, haha. I wonder if the Popjustice thing means she's gonna be getting big exposure soon? Might be better to send it now in case it blows up. (though I can't quite see that happening)

I see what you mean, they're quite a crossover act. I usually try to think about appealing to indie and pop fans when I pick a song. The only time I haven't done that recently was with September, which was actually my highest finish since my debut! I guess that makes this whole 'trying to appeal to as many people possible' thing seem a bit stupid when you can just send a bit of mainstream Swedish dance-pop and do better than normal. :s

 

Looks like I'll probably go for Tegan & Sara then, I always thought it was a bit subtle for BJSC but maybe it's not. I can always come back to MPHO next month. The fact that you seem to like her is usually a good sign in this contest. :lol:
