But anyway, I am AMAZED how Fairytale is doing. Like I said it wasn't my favourite on the night, but if it's going to be a huge international hit, I am right behind it :D

I'm tempted to hear that Ayo Technology track :o
Fairytale has been removed from UK iTunes. :( Grrrrr...
'Fairytale' is still #1 in Ireland, but the rest of the Eurovision entries are slipping. :( Iceland are at #19. It peaked at #11 and would have surged if it made top 10.

It's back on UK iTunes now I think. :magic: Still going really well in Ireland then! :o

nope, it's off :snif: I tried to purchase it to see if it would work and it wouldn't let me, said it's unavailable...unless it gets re-added very quickly, the song will end up at about #13-15 at the end of the week now :(

although it's available as an 'album' for 79p apparently  call me cynical but do you reckon they're trying to increase sales of the ESC compilation?

Quite successful here. :) I've heard it on the radio a few times over the past three days. I'm sure it'll do well enough in the UK. We've just got a smaller market here which is diluted with Irish, American and British artists, so it'll be easier for something completely different to break through.

I hope his album is released here. I can't resist anything Nordic-sounding. I go crazy for Celtic rock or pop, so Nordic rock/pop is like an awesome bonus. :heehee:

And Fairytale how now been rebranded as an "album", so it's lost it's #1 spot on the top 100 song downloads.

What is the point of that, may I ask?

I'm SOOOO pissed off about this. It's like, good god, we can't have a foreign artist doing well in the UK and Irish charts! Then again, sales of the "album" (heh) should still count in the singles chart. But taking away it's spot on the homepage of iTunes will do most damange...

Well, it's up to #2 now. They must have hidden it or something because it definitely wasn't there this morning!

And they've even taken the "Alexander Rybak - Eurovision 2009 Winner" image off the front page. <_<

We never had one of them
I wonder if Sweden makes the appearance in the Top 75? :o It's grown on me ... like finally
Good job it's back on now, reckon it'll still be in the lower end of the top ten come Sunday, which I'll be very pleased with. ^_^
although it wanst in my top 5 fave songs this year i hope it stays top 10 as id love to see a eurovision winner have a top 10 hit
Oh and slightly off topic, but a DJ I know who went to the contest has given me his ticket, it's well nice! :o Comes in this shiny cardboard envelope type of thing. And he gave me a Eurovision pin badge as well with the logo on which I presume you get when you buy the tickets. I'll find out next year anyway. :kink: Oh and he frequently sticks on random Eurovision 2009 songs - Armenia appeared on last night, proper surreal!
Fairytale is back to #1 in Ireland after this morning's little hiccup. :heehee:
id say it will be number 1 in ireland on friday, sometimes eurovision songs do well here lordi had a big hit here and had a number 4 peak with hark rock halleluagh

Article why Fairytale was deleted....

Rybak success 'marred after label blunder'

Alexander Rybak's chances of topping the charts around the world have been knocked after EMI Records temporarily removed 'Fairytale' from iTunes.

The Norwegian star's Eurovision winning song was unavailable to download for hours today after an alleged dispute over ownership of the track.

Fans attempting to purchase 'Fairytale' were told by iTunes that "the request could not be completed". The song subsequently dropped to number nine on the download chart in the UK, from a peak of number three yesterday.

It was also temporarily removed from iTunes stores in a number of countries around the world.

Since Rybak's record-breaking win at the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday, 'Fairytale' has seen download sales significantly increase across much of Europe, Australasia and the USA.

According to latest midweek sales in Britain, the song is expected to chart at number four on Sunday.

This was just posted on Digital Spy!

It's still like some kind of weird daydream to me that the British media cares about the Eurovision winning song. I don't think it will affect it much in other countries, but considering we've already lost interest in our own entry, I think Alex will be lucky to be top 10 now... :nocheer:
Sakis Rouvas' video is on Virgin On Demand, does that mean its going to get a UK release? I hope so
