Do I go for the risk and send Dead Disco - You're Out (Frankmusik Remix), in the process stopping anyone from sending New In Town?

I'd be surprised if that didn't do well. :o The popular vocals from last month's 5th place act with the girls who finished 12th playing the instruments sounds like a recipe for success. :o Though maybe the final product isn't quite as strong as the ingredients suggest?

I don't think anyone would send "New In Town" this time.

I haven't heard the Dead Disco song, but is anything featuring Little Boots really a risk anymore? :heehee: I haven't heard any of your songs in fact, J-Pop should probably be avoided based on BOA's performance (and the rest - Mdice's only huge flop came from the genre)...Rochelle's song isn't that amazing, I've heard it on ChartShow a few times and it's not grabbed me in any way, as for Emilia (de Poret), I loved Pick Me Up but I recall she had a rather deep voice, so I'd be interest to hear more material by her

Well, judge for yourself on YooToob:

Utada Hikaru - Dirty Desire

YENN - So Good To Be Wrong (no YouTube video yet unforch :( - Karmatronic radio edit = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=89MusczFnGw)

Emilia de Poret - Delirious (no YT video :()

And Mdice's only flop came from Utada! :P And a poor remix of her at that

the track I'm considering is 'Stone Cold Sober' which is very good (just heard it for the first time an hour ago - thank you PopJustice!) However, there are two other tracks I am also considering at this moment in time, one is a French track called Tactile by Marilou, which might be better left until the foreign language spin-off, but is my backup option for this contest, my other potential artist/song I haven't reserved yet, for reasons I shant disclose :kink:

:o Popjustice have posted about her? I haven't heard "Stone Cold Sober" yet, it wasn't one of the 5 songs she had on her Myspace at the time. I'll have to give it a listen, her other songs were a bit too Amy Winehouse and didn't seem to go anywhere for me. :(

Why do you care if someone send 'New in Town' anyway?

Because it's about as cheap as you can get now she's been sent 4 times - about as bad as sending Veronicas - Untouched :P

oh dear, definitely not a wise choice then  I assume you gave it points regardless of the fact that you thought it was a poor remix :kink:

Well if it's entered just don't vote for it then LOL.

yes just today! Her video was directed by video queen Sophie Muller! It has a really instant chorus, but maybe won't be wise for FSR Rontvia as it's an impending release and I'm not usually one to 'mine the release schedule' :heehee:

I didn't give points in V remember -_- I gave it an 8 posthumously based on the fact I absolutely adore the original...

What, as I did for Untouched, only just preventing it from winning? No thanks :P I don't go for the rather pitiful 'if you think it's cheap don't complain, just don't vote for it' argument, as experience (i.e. the fact I didn't give points to Untouched stopping it from winning!) tells me that there are plenty of people out there willing to ignore it and turn the contest into an irrelevance for new music...

This is better

I prefer the remix...and doubt the original would do particularly well in all honesty.

oh yes, that didn't help Mdice at all, they would have come higher I assume with your points!?!

The cheap debate  I hate how the other side resorts to using the 'OMGZ UR RUINING THE FUN OF THE CONTEST' as an argument though tbh :( We're trying to resolve a fundamental truth about the contest here! :arrr:

Ooh I think it's definitely her catchiest song yet! The video is good as well. It seems she's changed her voice slightly too. On this she sounds like a mix between Duffy and Amy Winehouse, when before she just sounded like an Amy-clone. (to the extent that I thought the song from that advert was an Amy Winehouse song)

What she was doing before was the typical 60s inspired stuff (like 'Broken Doll' which is still on her Myspace - that's one of the five songs I have) but this has a bit of a twist on it. I'm unsure whether she'll be big though, it's a bit 2007/8 now.

THE CHEAP DEBATE

Tom will be in asap to tell everyone to stop the arguing :kink:

I don't really discriminate if a song's cheap anymore, it doesn't really bother me anymore, it's one less song I have to listen to...the only discrimination from me is that a well known song falls right to the bottom of the ranking pack...Jai Ho was a 9/10 last month (and still is) but didn't get any points from me as there were around 11 or 12 other 9/10+ songs last month which I felt deserved/probably needed my points more than a current top 3 hit

Yes, I worked it out in the Green Room thread for VII or VIII I think, they still would've done badly but would've finished 19th/20th or something. My points would've put M.I.A. 5th, Eledan 1st by 10 points more (as if they needed more!) and me 4th (:heehee:)

I agree, the first thing I thought of was '2008' when I heard this song, this time last year it would have been huge but it's all about electropop now...still, I'd like to hope that a strong enough song from any genre could be a hit regardless of the era that it's released ^_^

You could also send this
