Hover text, the thing where you place your mouse over the thread title it will show you the first post, I am on an ancient work PC and its frustrating opening a thread only to find out its junk ;)

it is possible although also very inefficient. You have to load all of the post content (for the first post) in the forum view which adds a LOT more load to the board.
