The best memories are from the 80's - every show from 1980 till 1985 was a classic. I have taped every show since July 1990, and it is indeed sad; but inevitable............... :(
My favourite moment will have to be when Dexy's Midnight Runners sang Jackie Wilson says, and they put a pic of a Darts player called Jocky Wilson, that was so funny
I remember the very first TOTP I watched, and it was the spice girls first ever performance, and me and my cousin tried to immitate it
Pans People..........the dancers back in the 70's & early 80's how bad were they & the costumes

Bush 'Swallowed' was probably my favourite performance.

Doop 'Doop' was the first TOTP performance I saw.

The Police 'Message In A Bottle' was the first TOTP performance I saw

i saw the first one..... am i the oldest here?

one of my earliest memories was seeing 'the pretty things', an r n b group from the mid 60's, i remember laughing at them and calling them 'girls' because they were the first ones i saw with long hair! lol

a few years later my hair was long and has more or less stayed long ever since!

the Pretty Things? I'm surprised they were on TOTP. werent they or some of thier records sopposed to be controversial. They got banned in the States didnt they?

My fav TOTP moment is when Nirvana performed Smells Like Teen Sprit in 1991 & Kurt Cobain messed up the vocals & their was a stage invasion :cheer:

Also when Blur were number one in 1995 & performed Country House

Apparently that was an inside joke between the band and the technicians

Haha

Or maybe the band was just embarassed?

That's one of my faves as well.. He didn't "mess up" the vocals at all though, he just didn't give a sh!t cos he was peed off that they wouldn't let them actually play live, so he decided to deliberately change the vocals from "Load up on guns, bring your friends" to "Load up on drugs, kill your friends"....

......... bad miming by clowns dressed in bright colours...

yes and that was just the presenters

BBC needs to let it go out in style. Get DLT and Tony Blackburn in to host the last one, get Slade and Roy Wood on to perform, have the proper Led Zep theme music, get Pan's People back. Get Dexy's in in front of a picture of Jocky Wilson again . Let's have a celebratory finish not a damp squib. One last burst of gloriously silly fun. Who's with me?

I remember Oasis playing with Noel on vocals and Liam on guitar in the most obivious mime ever which still makes me laugh.

Rod & The Faces lost performance of Maggie May where the band swapped instruments half way through. Rod singing the lyrics of You Wear It Well from a sheet of paper. Rod & The Faces (again) performing Angel with a cardboard cut-out of bassist Ronnie Lane who couldn't make the show

I would forgive the BBC for wiping so much classic 60s/70s stuff if they would show existing 60s/70s shows on BBC3 in their entirity.
