The Prodigals Film Soundtrack album – 'No Place Like Home'

11TH MAY 2009 sees the release of 'The Prodigals Film Soundtrack Album' titled 'No Place Like Home'. The album features tracks by the legendary Beverley Knight, vocal diva Joy Malcolm and new comers Teezy and 4Flava amongst others. Born out of Londons Lambeth borough Housing, Regeneration and Environment Department, The Prodigals is an emotive short film drama about three young people and their friends, leaning hard lessons about life choices and consequences on their way to adulthood. The film extensively utilises music and popular youth culture as a means of engaging, entertaining and educating young people about parent-teen relationships, the personal, social and emotional pressures that influences young people in transition, and put them at risk of leaving home before they are ready. The film is part of The Prodigals Education Programme and broader education pack.

Ooh sounds exciting. :o She was talking about this on Twitter last night, she went to the launch party. Apparently it will have two (presumably, new) tracks on it. Should be one to look out for, the actual film sounds quite good as well.

Actually the album is on iTunes now! :w00t: It's got two songs by Bev. "Get Ready", "No Place Like Home" and an R&B mix of "Get Ready".

They both sound decent, one is quite uptempo, the other is a slowy. Unfortunately I can't buy it yet, no credit on iTunes! :(

Bought a £15 iTunes voucher today, just downloading the whole album from iTunes as it seems to be digital only. :( I'll upload the Beverley Knight songs to Youtube if you lot want to hear them. :w00t:

Here are all the Bev songs from the album:

Get Ready

No Place Like Home

Get Ready (R&B Mix)

They're not bad songs, not close to her best but it's good to have some fresh from her. "No Place Like Home" is the better song, while "Get Ready" has a more uplifting sound - just a bit repetitive. I'm not quite sure why it's called the R&B mix though, the only difference I can spot it that it's got a slightly synthier sound.

I promise to take a listen tomorrow. :o Who knows - maybe she's my new obsession :kink:

Ooh good. I wouldn't count on it though, the tracks are nothing to get obsessed about. Just something NICE and new. You should listen to her albums. :kink:

They're just okay really.

Yeah, I think they're nice enough. "Get Ready" us probably my fave of the two so far.

Hmm I randomly just felt like listening to "No Place Like Home" and I like it a bit more now.

I think I know why they didn't go down so well here, I think they're produced by the people who did "The B-Funk" album with her and that's not a very popular album on here.
