The Fame is the title of Lady GaGa’s debut album, and if that’s what she wants, she’s got it in spades, as the album climbs to the top of the chart for the first time, while second single Poker Face retains leadership of the singles tally.

Topping the chart at the 12th attempt, The Fame sold 38,031 copies last week – its highest weekly tally yet – to raise its career sales to 284,688.

Poker Face completes a third week at number one, to emulate the success of Lady GaGa’s introductory single, Just Dance. It sold 55,318 copies last week to take its cumulative sales to 364,663, with physical release still a week away. Just Dance holds at number 13 on its 14th week in the Top 20, with sales of 16,271 copies lifting its career tally to 573,932.

Album should be on 300k and Poker Face 400k by the end of the week :dancing:

THIS IS INCREDIBLE! 2 NUMBER 1'S IN 2 MONTHS!

There's a reason for that, and for her international success - Crossover Appeal (ie, different genre fans being into her music as well - she's got Dance/Electronica fans, EBM/Underground/Synthpop fans, Urban/R&B fans, Indie/alternative Kids and even some Metallers and 'old skool' Rockers raving about her as well as the mainstream Pop fans...)..... Something that the likes of Saturdays and Girls Aloud simply dont have, which is why they wont amount to very much outside the UK....

Great stuff seeing her at number 1 in both the single and album charts.

I do hope 'Paparazzi' or 'Starstruck' get released as 3rd single here over 'Lovegame' though, as that just sounds like a much weaker version

of 'Just Dance' and it would be nice of her to show a little variation.

'Again Again' and 'I Like It Rough' are both great songs but unfortunately would be relative flops.

I agree on 'Paparazzi', it's the most quality, commerciable and catchy song left on the album. And one of my faves. Plus it's major variation at the same time. 'Starstruck' is a bit flat for me and also for a single. And Flo Rida really just ruins it for me. It'll flop major imo. Where Paparazzi already has some love, it charting two weeks in the uk top 100 now..

'I Like It Rough' would be the perfect 4th single. It's just to stunning, different and likeable. Her vocals are incredible on it (the best vocals for me she's done on the album) and the whole retro disco theme to it just has 'hit' written all over it, no way GaGa will flop, and especially with a song like ILIR.. Eh Eh and LG are horrid single choices for me, my two least favourites off the album..

MAJOR week again for GaGa in the US. . :o PF now 2x platinum and The Fame past gold status with a 13% sales increase this week alone, the album should go platinum in no time, yay. And JD still selling heaps. I'd imagine it would be 4x platinum in a matter of months. And even the album tracks selling a bit, both past 200k. . AMAZING.

After another listen to the album, I think that the following all have big (top 10) potential as singles:

LoveGame

Paparazzi

I Like It Rough

Beautiful Dirty Rich

Eh Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say)

Starstruck

Money Honey

I just hope they make the right decisions.

Also, with a good amount of promotion, "Eh Eh" could be a huge summer hit.

Well, Eh Eh sort of flopped in Aus and is the worst off the album imo, would be a hideous single choice.

BDR was released as a promo only single, so I doubt it will get re-released as a proper single. I don't think LoveGame is catchy enough, or quality enough in comparison to Money Honey and I Like It Rough and even Starstruck to a certain extent, which would all make perfect singles/top 5 potential ..

Surprised so many people dislike Eh Eh. One of the stand out tracks to me and doesn't sound like any of the other songs.

Agreed. I actually love Eh Eh

That said, it is very Ace Of Base  :kink:

I wish BDR would be a single but it will probably never happen :(

I think 'Beautiful, Dirty, Rich' could be re-released as an official single, PCD released 'Whatcha Think About That' as a promo single in the US but it did great over here.

Eh Eh really does have an ace of base sound :D It's her best yet. It doesn't sound like her compared with her voice on Just Dance etc, but i think i prefer her voice on this

Just Dance - 09

Love Game - 08

Paparazzi - -06

Beautiful, Dirty, Rich - 10

Eh, Eh (Nothing Else I Can Say) - 06

Poker Face - 10

The Fame - 08

Money Honey - 07

Again Again - 10

Boys Boys Boys - 03

Brown Eyes - 09

Summerboy - 10

I Like It Rough - 09

Fashion: 10 <3

Vanity: 09

Disco Heaven: 08

I seem to like the ones everyone is not so keen on lolz. GaGa is a proper star now like literally everyone is talking about her. Can't escape it!

I really think LoveGame has a good shot at success if released correctly, it really does get stuck in your head and is a certain club-banger for sure.

Money Honey

Boys Boys Boys (See this as more of a summer hit over Eh Eh Eh tbh)

Beautiful Dirty Rich

Starstruck (Charting highly on the Bubbling Under)

Paparazzi

All have massive appeal as singles and GaGa could certainly 'do a RiRi' and milk her debut for all its worth.

'The Fame' will most likely go Platinum this week. Last week it's sales were 285,000. :cheer:
AND 'Eh Eh' just went top 10 in Sweden

No surprise with that, considering the Ace Of Base influence

US Sales this week, another IMMENSE selling week. And a new record for The Fame's best single week sales and yet it only got her to #10

oOOF and this is pretty interesting to from Lady-GaGa.net:

Lady GaGa has revealed that her international superhit "Just Dance" took just 10 minutes to write. Speaking about her suprise at the song's success the singer told Heat: "It's been unbelievable the way the song has crossed over into the mainstream. It took ten minutes to write! I think its because its a happy record. Maybe the record will appreciated more now there's people who are going through rough times, losing jobs and homes.
Lady GaGa is the first artist in more than 6 years to send her first two Mainstream Top 40 entries to the summit, as "Poker Face" shuffels 2-1. (Her debut hit, "Just Dance", led for 2 weeks in January). Avril Lavigne last launched with a pair of No.1s - "Complicated" and "Sk8er Boi" in 2002. She added a 3rd leader out of the gate with "I'm With You" in 2003. Ace of Base is the only other act to arrive with a trio of toppers "All That She Wants," "The Sign" and "Don't Turn Around" in 1993-94. 4 other acts reached no.1 with their first two CHR Top 40 titles, dating back to Nielsen BDS-based charts 1992 inception: Mariah Carey (1993), Sugar Ray (1997-99), Christina Aguilera (1999-00) and Bounty Killer, billed as a featured act on Fugees' "Killing Me Softly" in 96 and No Doubt's "Hey Baby" in 2002.
