I must listen at some point today to celebrate!

I always forget it was released this time of year, I associate January as it’s release as that’s when we got it in the UK. (Was it always the plan to establish her in North America and then other territories separately… not that it matters now of course but curious at how it was released later in the UK).

What a debut album though. I’ve grown to love it all the more lately there’s some real charm to it knowing what would happen to her career after this was released but you can’t deny it’s a pop masterpiece and has gone onto become a huge piece of pop culture. Those shades, the wig, the discostick, so many memories.

The fact it still charts to this day on the main albums chart in the UK, US (and I imagine other countries too) just shows you that even now people are still loving this era.

I would listen today but so much new music I don't think I'll have time  insane that it's still charting I agree.

Also yeah, over the years it has moved from having some tracks that I didn't enjoy too much or found dated, to feeling really nostalgic and charming now all these years later. She changed the game with this record.

it's so amusing because at the time, it sounded like a bunch of unused demos Gaga had written for other people and now it sounds even more so out-of-line with her shakey discography.

I think so, at this point she was slowly climbing up on Billboard with 'Just Dance' and the release of that was always scheduled for January in the UK. Back then held back releases were fairly commonplace, I remember 'I Kissed A Girl' was released here quite a while after it had been a smash in the US (but even that was pulled forward by a few weeks).

Because the girl can write songs, not every artist can be proud of that.

And just reminding you that this patchwork of demos is one of the best-selling albums of the century.

*gives you a reaction because this post wants to be reacted to*

not at all - you can see how Lady Gaga the artist really became herself from Monster onward - patchy discography or not, you can't argue The Fame is her safest batch of material and stands out in her discography. At much as I love Paper Gangsta, it doesn't feel like a Gaga song.

Paper Gangsta clearly fits The Fame, even though it's the worst song on the album.

“The Fame” (276) officially surpasses “Taylor Swift” (275) and is now the second longest-charting debut album by a female artist on the Billboard 200 in the chart’s history!

Overall, it becomes the 7th longest-charting female album of all-time.

Omg :cheeseblock: :w00t:
