May 3, 200916 yr Wow. Weird! Can I have a 1 please? J/K I'd love any amount of points! lol I was thinking the same...if it happens again then its official...whoever gets my 1, will win :) ohh and for the record, in this contest, there are 4 more songs that I could have send it(including Kristinia)
May 3, 200916 yr Ben (Mdice) is arguably the most on the ball contestant in BJSC, probably due to the amount of blogs he follows, so anyone looking for success would be wise to take a leaf out of his book...of his winners, I'm quite sure that the Katy Perry and Royksopp songs and probably the Brandy one would have been snapped up by somebody else within a few hours had he not got to them first. I don't think Mdice have a particular 'secret to their success' as Tyron put it, it's all about being the first to see potential in a song and grab it before somebody else does, and Ben is clearly finely tuned into what makes a good BJSC song ^_^ Same goes for me I guess...if I hadn't sent Love Song to IV, I'm sure somebody else would have sent it somewhere down the line...the real question is, why on earth did I wait until the April 2008 contest to send it when I'd been loving it (and it had already topped my chart) in December 2007  lucky I grabbed it just in time! It's the truth haha. I follow 60+ music blogs and 30+ album blogs and check them daily. Most of them are indie centric but I do have a couple of mainstream ones to balance it all out. Though to be fair though, I don't specifically send songs just because they're upcoming singles (Every Little Earthquake for example), but in the pop world, usually an artist's best songs are their singles. But yep, most of my entries usually come from blogs...the only one I can think of who wasn't (recently) would be Isabel. Royksopp definitely would have been grabbed by someone else had I not picked them up. But I reserved them as soon as I read that they did a Robyn collaboration; I hadn't even heard the song yet. Mwahaha. I knew I had to get on the ball on that one, thankfully it was actually as amazing as it sounded as an idea. BJSC isn't as predictable as you think though. Honestly, it's all about the song. You can never win / do well solely based on an artist (as we've seen with Britney / Rihanna etc.) I guess I just have a good ear to what songs will do well. Like with Little Boots, I knew Earthquake would do better than say, Mathematics. You're not going to do well just because it's Little Boots (this has no relation to the current contest by the way, previous ones haha). Though I never in a million years saw MAGIC going top 2.
May 3, 200916 yr I dont know many. I found a few good tracks via Hype Machine this time, and Popjustice of course. a few of my entries I have discovered via Popjustice's 'Song Of The Day' feature...M.A.G.I.C and Not A Love Song definitely were found by me there  at least if an excellent blog like Popjustice rates a song highly, you know it must have something going for her...of course they get it wrong sometimes - Sugababes' Girls was a song of the day there once
May 3, 200916 yr there are a few great ones, especially pop ones, a lot of them are American but cover all nationalities of music...LOADS of them focus on Swedish music too, seeing as it's 'the spiritual home of pop' :kink: I have found at least a third of my top 5 entries via blogs, probably more...random blogs though, I can't remember the names of any of them now  selfish :P

May 3, 200916 yr I guess I just have a good ear to what songs will do well. Though I never in a million years saw MAGIC going top 2. nobody was more surprised than me! I was so happy because it's one of my favourite entries I've ever sent, spent 5 weeks at No.1 in my chart  I just thought to myself 'if I love it this much, chances are at least one or two other people will' ^_^

May 3, 200916 yr For anyone looking for a blog, http://this.bigstereo.net/ is pretty good, lots of indie pop / remixes. I believe it's where I first heard about Little Boots last year in March.
May 3, 200916 yr selfish :P :kink: here's a good starting point: http://dontstopthepop.blogspot.com/ and then just follow the links from that site to other blogs...there are some excellent ones listed, they are not just great to find BJSC entries but also great to discover new music and artists...I'd be bored to death if all I listened to was stuff played on UK radio
May 3, 200916 yr Yes. I found Kim Leoni on there. And I found The Sound Of Arrows there, my supposed to be BJSC XIV entry <_< :P I was one step ahead of you :kink: I think I confirmed it a few moments after I heard it, I was mesmerised by the song (and still am)

May 3, 200916 yr Author I would've sent The Sound Of Arrows to XIII if I hadn't have found my eventual entry, but I was so unbelieveably in love with Discotheque, I wouldn't have changed for the world of me.
