The Saturdays have vowed to steal Lady GaGa's limelight with a new "raunchy" image this summer.

The girlband are currently making plans for a complete overhaul of their style ahead of the release of their new single 'Work' next month.

Band member Mollie King told the Daily Star: "We'll give GaGa a run for her money. 'Work' is a sexy song and we want that to be reflected in the video."

King added that she has become more comfortable with her image since joining the group and is keen to embrace the new style.

"When we first started, I was very nervous," she admitted. "The girls would put their sexy faces on and I would just smile sweetly. I couldn't relax."

The Saturdays expressed mixed views over GaGa's music and personal life in an interview with DS two months ago.

scource..... digital spy

well it had to happen didnt it.... desperatrion beckons, dispite the fans claims of 'talent' they clearly havnt got enough if they have to resort to semi-nudity in oreder to sell records... the point is that the music should stand up by itself

LOL i love how they are so typically generic, do people honestly like this $h!t or are they just sheep in a crowd?
"Up" was a very good pop song, I don't think much of anything else they've done to date. I heard "Work" a while back and wasn't impressed, though no doubt this will be a "new" version in an effort to get the fans to shell out a bit more cash

And this goes to prove my point in the Ga Ga Forum about the fear I had of absolute chancers now coming along and trying to rip her off like so much sheep..... Same thing always happens when a musical phenomenon comes on the scene, all the leeches try to feed off the success... Same thing happened with Kurt/Nirvana and the whole "Grunge" thing... So, basically the Shats will be playing Spin Doctors to Ga Ga's Nirvana just to take the metaphor further......

..And, they totally miss the point of Ga Ga anyway... The whole ethos of Lady Ga Ga is that she's her own creation, and stands apart from the herd as a genuine Pop STAR, it's not necesarily about being overtly or obviously "sexy" (read, "tarty" in The Shats' case no doubt...). Copying her style just proves how desperate The Saturdays and their record label are becoming tbh.....

I take it since they seem to want to copy Ga Ga so much, that means that Frankie Sandford is gonna take about five years or so out to become a classically trained pianist then..... Dressing up as Ga Ga does not mean you become her girls.... You just have to look at the recent photos of the terminally clueless Paris Hilton to see that....

it doesn't say that they are going to steal Lady GaGa's style it just says her limelight, which means her music. Just because they want to become sexier doesn't mean they want to be like GaGa.

And about them being desperate, they are the most popular British girl group at the moment, they are going on their tour soon, which was quickly sold out in a short space of time and they had to add dates.

Also they are a lot more talented than a lot of artists as 3 of them can play multiple instruments at a high standard. I think it's Una, Mollie and Frankie, plus Vanessa can really sing. In fact the only talentless one in my opinion is Rochelle.

And finally the are the sexiest people in music at the moment, especially Una. They've nothing to be desperate for.

It's a tabloid report. Which, as you should know by now Rob, means that it's about 5% accurate and 95% fictional. Deary me, any excuse to jump on the young women...

And I take issue with your point Grimly. GaGa is full of crap, she is certainly not her own creation. Everything she wears is a homage to the popstars of the 80s such as Bowie. I have to say I've gone right off her as a person. She's so unattractively self-absorbed, all she harps on about in interviews is her 'art' and her 'style'. She's also an absolute hypocrite given that she first claimed to be influenced by Bowie amongst others and then on Jonathan Ross said that nobody influenced her. Can't stand the woman! Shame her music is so good.

we do have a Saturdays forum

Yeah, and I can see the Anti-Saturdays sentiment coming from the thread going down a treat on the Saturdays AF mate..... Kate (La La Land) started a JOKEY "boot and immune" thread about the Saturdays on the AF, and the humourless gits closed the topic down..... <_<

Not to mention the fact that this is clearly a general "Pop News" thread that Rob has started... You could just as easily argue that this is a Lady Ga Ga thread and put it there.... Herein lies the problem with having loads and loads of different AFs tbh, whenever you want to start a general thread about an act which clearly isn't arselicky, then you still get people who say "oh, shouldn't that be in the 'artist x, y or z" Forum.....?

This is the problem with AFs, it means that only positive discussion of the artist is allowed on the site. Totally ridiculous situation.

Anyway, if they did say that, SILLY LITTLE GIRLS. But yes, oh so predictable. They really aren't doing anything to help themselves steer away from their image as the cheap GA.

Exactly, if this thread had been posted in the Saturday's forum it would have been closed or deleted within seconds as AF's are essentially about bumming the artist in 90% of AF's

No, what she actually said was "nobody inspires me", present tense... Well, frankly I take that more to be a comment upon the mainstream Pop music scene of 2009 tbh.... And she's absolutely correct, there IS nothing genuinely 'inspiring' about the mainstream Pop Music scene of 2009, so I dont see the contradiction tbh.... And why shouldn't she talk about her "art", is such talk only to be the SOLE preserve of the more "serious" acts such as Radiohead, Nightwish or Tool....? Are the likes of Thom Yorke, Kate Bush or Nick Cave the only ones allowed to talk in terms of how their music is "art"... She has said that she wants to do Pop in the same manner that rock bands do rock.... ie, with a bit of cred, a bit of individuality and actual musical TALENT..... Why the fukk shouldn't someone who's a classically trained pianist and genuinely TALENTED songwriter be allowed to "big themselves up" a bit, why should she play down her obvious musical talent....? You're so, so WRONG..... And I rather suspect your reasons for disliking Ga Ga now are as false and shallow as you claim the lady herself is.....

I've always said that an artist has a right to be arrogant if they're talented... The Saturdays have no discenible songwriting talent, and are just so full of sh"t, whereas Ga Ga has pulled herself up and learned her craft from the best (ie, Bowie, JS BACH - I mean, Jesus, how many mainstram Pop acts go around name-checking BACH ffs  -, etc...), as well as pretty much being responsible for producing most of her album and pretty much being at the cusp of capturing a particular zeitgeist or musical epoch..... So, yeah, I would say that gives her license to be a bit "full of herself" tbh..... Far moreso than the manufactured/X-Factor puppets out there......

Are you just intimidated by her obvious intellect and musical nous....?

just because someone comes from a talent show doesn't mean that they haven't been trying to break into the industry for ages some people just use it to get that leg up. Look at Leona she was trying hard before X Factor and just used that to get herself into the business. You can't deny that Leona is talented.

Are you losing your mind? Why would I be intimidated by her? I'm not a fellow recording artist, I don't have any reason to be bitter or jealous. And it's you whose wrong. Having talent doesn't give you the right to be arrogant or an arse. Since that JR interview I've gone and watched several others and in each one she comes across as so horrible self-obsessed. She has nothing to say if it's not about her. Also I'm not quite sure why you're under the assumption that she produced most of her own album. She wrote most of it, but she certainly didn't produce it. Oh, and all this 'present tense' business is total nonsense. Either people inspire her or they don't, end.

The Saturdays, if they wanted, would have just as much (or as little) right to be arrogant fools as GaGa does, but thankfully they show gratification rather than contempt for their place in the industry. Scoff all you like, call me a Saturdays loon (no doubt that'll form a part of your next, wildly inaccurate attack) but there's no arguing with that.

Finally, why would I be getting at GaGa if I didn't believe what I was saying? My god, I played (parts of) her (patchy) album to death! Please think before you type.

You can't deny that Leona is talented.

Leona has a technical ability that makes her sound like Mariah Carey... It doesn't make her an "artist" in that sense..... I dont exactly see her name attached to too many songwriting or producing credits.... The way I see the likes of Leona Lewis is that they're very good artisans and can follow point a to point b to point c in a linear manner, but they're not touched by that "spark" that makes them truly great in their own right..... Genuine artistry is non-linear, more awkward..... Leona is good at "painting by numbers", but that dont exactly make her a Picasso, Michaelangelo or Da Vinci.....

Exactly, Leona like Alex Burke is highly talented KARAOKE singer, when she starts writing her own material and producing her songs I will think differently but until then....

I also got a 10% warning

This post should have been posted in the Saturdays forum - I would have loved to see the reactions from the fans.

Anyway back to the discussion. It shows that if their records aren't selling as well they would do anything in a desperate attempt to sell and sex sells!

I completely agree his/her (delete as necessary) argument is flawed.

As much as I love Lady GaGa's Songs, her lyrics aren't exactly award winning and inspiring, to me. And i don't think she produced anything on her album. The only deferences between GaGa and The Saturdays are their nationality, the amount of people and the fact that GaGa writes some of her music (which i'm sure The Saturdays will do in future). The Saturdays and Lady GaGa have done some of the best Pop songs in the past few of years, which is what they are there to do.

But both of their careers depend on their next albums. The Saturdays due out later this year and GaGa's will probably be due sometime next year. I'm sure they will both do incredibly well. ATM Lady GaGa has got individuality and that will soon get boring and her popularity will wane if her second album isn't strong enough.

I think you've hit the nail on the head. GaGa has pushed her 'quirkyness' so far now that it's become a novelty, which is actually going to be a disadvantage to her next time around, because novelty always wears off.

And how can anyone criticise the Sats for being sexually provocative in their dress (if this article is to be believed) when Lady GaGa humps everything regardless of its species? She's the raunchiest popstar out there, often to vulgar extents! Oh, yeah, I remember now; it's a part of that 'art' of hers. Mhmm.

Leona is writing some lyrics on this album and i'm sure as the record company begin to have more confidence in her she will be able to do a lot more.

Lady GaGa isn't exactly innovative in her music, she just uses a lot of old sounds and puts them together to sound new.

EDIT: Nothing to do with this argument but i just noticed i past the 2000 posts mark sometime today i believe.
