How utterly ridiculous.

Firstly, the Saturdays are anything but original in their styling, they're clones of Girls Aloud!

Secondly, this is a FORUM for DISCUSSION and DEBATE. What is the point if we're going to close a thread everytime someone disagrees with someone else? If everyone agreed with everyone we'd have a very boring, dull and pointless website.

To be honest, I think Buzzjack is all too ready to close threads as it is because of arguments, and it's often stifling a potentially good and interesting forum. Attitudes like your don't help.

We don't need the thread to be closed, but what we could do with is people to remember we're discussing music acts, not the sex lifes of each other's mothers. People need to stop taking every comment here so PERSONALLY.

On the actual Saturdays v Gaga debate; I think we're building GaGa up far too much here. Give her a few more years and albums before we decide if she's the next musical Messiah.

On the other hand, the way certain acts have taken to namedropping her is a bit desperate and tacky.

spot on shoat..... time and time again we get idiots who dont understand the reason for the existance of 'forums' calling for topic closures or telling detractors to f off.

because the sats were sold as a talented , 'family' girl group who could perform live without resorting to sex... a ploy that some of us KNEW wouldnt last .

What?!

Rubbish! When did Fascination ever push them as a family girl group?

I think you'll find that if you take a look at some of the pictures of when they were touring with GIRLS ALOUD, before they even released a single, they are wearing very revealing outfits.

They have not all of a sudden decided to take off their turtle necks and reveal their bodies, they've done it from the beginning.

really?.... sorry but i thought that they were being marketed as 'nice' girls with talent... fair enough, ill stand corrected, so they started at the bottom and are working their way down then...

the point stands ..... more flesh on show is directly linked the the lack of decent material a group has.

that is absolute bull, so your saying Lady GaGa has a lack of decent material then, cause she does tend to show a lot of flesh. Plus another point is in the Issues video there was no flesh and that did brilliantly.

Plus sex sells and everybody uses it to their advantage.

I dont get what grim fiendish and mushymans point is it seems to have really become blurry. Its just really an excuse to bash the sats which is very childish really.

Gaga cant copyright anything if they want to her emulate her fine. She is doing nothing original anyway.

Gaga is cheesier than a wotsit no matter what they say and thats why I like her. She is certainly not anyway in the vein of crap like combichrist and all that industrial poo.

Which makes me think they are either bashing the sats for attention. Or he is secret pop fan who likes Mcfly and Britney.Either way its playground stuff

The Saturdays are $h!t in every way tbh. Their music is $h!t, they are bland. Yes they are beautiful (some of them) but what's unique about that?

If you're going to be manufactured pop, atleast be GOOD manufactured pop.

thats a point of view, not a fact... i dont rate gaga at all... but her music suits her image. so issues aint that bad.... point proven, i mean, how tf could you reveal flesh to that?

well said!

Or alternatively they could JUST NOT LIKE The Saturdays?

Fine, but how much time does one need on their hands to go around making threads about artists they don't like for the sole purpose of making a jibe? A fifty year old condemning five twenty-somethings for showing a bit of flesh? It's all a bit sad.

and whys that then jerk?...

i thought the concept of an entertainment forum was to discuss and debate topical issues (lol) of which the saturdays clearly qualify... all ive merely done is start a thread highlighting the predictability of the current 'in' (failing)girlband, it wasnt me who took it to 6 pages!

question.... who thinks in all sincerity that IF 'if this is love', 'up', 'issues' had reached #1 and were HUGE (ala kings of leon stylee) a new 'raunchy' image would have materialised?... ... wake up guys, you are being manipulated.

if anybody is happy with this type of exploitation, then maybe they should re-evaluate their standards. the material should sell itself without female artistes prostituting themselves to gain favour with weak minded adolescent w*n**rs!

The fact each single has peaked higher than the last shows they aren't "failing". ;)

... but how much profit have they made? dont forget, they are a product, a commodity, their management need a good return for their investment otherwise the saturdays will be dropped. nah, this act smacks of desperation... and tbh im disappointed, it would have been nice to have a talented act that got to the top on the back of decent material.

I understand the need for disucssion and everything but really now is this not just the same old arguement going round in circles. LOL, can we not find something else to disagree on.

The fact that i mod The Saturdays forum (whoop!) probably gives away my opinion anyway so i wont go into detail about ridicolous it is that someone could claim they are failing.

They obviously have made profit as they are planning to release an album later this year. CL has sold more the Doll Domination and Catfights And Spotlights in the UK.

failing to make as much money as their management would like.... not failing to hit the charts.. the hype is still going on , money being poured into this product with atm little return... TIME TO GET YER CLOTHES OFF GIRLS <_<

And your statements are based on what? :heehee: What money is being poured in exactly? Because it sure as hell isn't for any music video they've made. They're not being booked into any particularly big promotional slots on TV. You're making up statistics seemingly. The label are obviously happy because they're recording the second album (have been for a couple of months already). It seems like you'd love to believe they're in trouble financially when they simply... aren't.

TBH, not that much money went into this first era, and they weren't really hyped either, most people i know thought Up was their first single.

When was the last time a girl group went silver with 3 singles in a row before the sats, i think you'll find it was at the beginning of this decade.

Comparing the CL era to first eras sales for GA and Sugababes.

GA sold appox sold 1,378,000 and that's with SOTU sales which wouldn't have been so much if they hadn't have come from a talent show.

Sugababes sold 519,261 approx.

These 2 era's have also had time for them to sell more over the years.

now The Sats have so far sold around 1,018,500, with Work bringing more sales soon and therefore the album will sell more they will end up beating GA's total as well as Sugababes. How can you not call that a success.

This is the not the same with The Saturdays, they're like a pre-watershed Pussycat Dolls. They're good looking girls but well, its utterly desperate measures if they're going to be very "raunchy" and "sexy" in their next video. More likely their record company has seen a window of oppotunity and wants to exploit it.

Spot on Rooney.... The Sats demographic is young teenage girls (and young gay blokes as well it would seem going by this thread.... ), Ga Ga's demographic is definitely older in the main, going more for late-teens to 20-somethings, and if she can pick up some of the '80s crowd' and folks who dont tend to listen to mainstream pop as well, then that's a bonus..... The fact are, she has a crossover appeal that the Sats do not.....

And Rob is correct also, it's all down to returns and "bottom line" at the end of the day... The record company's quite obviously pushing this sort of "more raunchy" thing because the 'pre-watershed PSD' as Rooney points out isn't really making the returns to the investment that they'd like.... So, they look around and see who it is that's getting the press and selling sh!tloads of records, and hey presto, here you have one of the Sats in an interview name-dropping said act in an attempt to hype up their next release..... Doesn't just happen in the Pop world though, god knows, I mean if I had a quid for every two-bit fledgling Metal act who were name-dropping Metallica into their interviews in Metal Hammer or Kerrang last year, I'd have a small fortune.....

The Saturday's going slutty will also lead to their pre teen and teenage girl fanbase going slutty too which will lead to more sex attacks, sexual assaults, girls thinking that they should reveal loads of flesh too, girls thinking it ok to put up topless and other slutty pics on MySpace and so on, the Saturday's have a social responsibility to their fans too and by turning into sluts it will encourage their fans to turn into sluts too
