June 21, 200619 yr I can kinda see why the album bombed, so I guess it was the right thing to do, but wouldn't they have made more money off another single?

June 21, 200619 yr Author I can kinda see why the album bombed, so I guess it was the right thing to do, but wouldn't they have made more money off another single? If another single underperformed, they could stand to lose money. Her videos cost a lot. It's also easier and cheaper to go into the studio, record a better album and get your marketing guys to create a comeback than to keep releasing songs from an album everyone's marked as a dead-end. Radio would not have gone near a third single from that album. If Jennifer releases her equivalent of 'It's Like That' or 'Hung Up', the record company could make a lot of money. I completely agree, just one cracking song could put her back on the map. :( Agree, J.Lo's popularity has bombed lately -_- I think it's all the fur stuff personally. -_-
June 21, 200619 yr This should be interesting if he manages to create a record that suits both artists. Two different styles, we shall wait and see. More likely to be a success than not in my opinion owing to the fact that they are both international stars. :D
June 21, 200619 yr Yep! I think it'd get to no1 if it has an urban edge, but I'm still hoping it's gonna be a ballad
June 21, 200619 yr Mariah and Janet to record duet Jermaine Dupri says he's planning a Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey duet on Jackson’s forthcoming album, 20 Years Old. "It's gonna happen on this record," he told MTV. "Please believe that. I got a mean idea, so look for it. We definitely gonna do a repackage on [Janet's album] once it comes out. Hopefully it's successful and people buy into it, then I'm going back in the studio.†Dupri produced tracks for Carey’s multi-platinum selling The Emancipation of Mimi LP and is dating Janet. He got both superstars together on stage during Hot 97’s recent Summer Jam concert in New Jersey and said the idea for their collaboration came out of recording sessions with Jackson. “What happened was, when I was working with Janet, I got into the zone. This was my first time ever working with her,†he said. “When I get into my zone with artists, I just want to create and create and create. That's what happened with me and Mariah [on The Emancipation of Mimi]. We don't run outta ideas; we keep coming up with s***. The closer I get to that idea [for Janet and Mariah], the more I know where it should be at. It's feeling like it's gonna happen."
June 22, 200619 yr Author Thanks for posting this, Mikey. It's different to the article we have. I've merged these posts with the existing thread.
June 23, 200619 yr Thanks for that Mikey - looks like it's actually going ahead. :o I'm curious, but I have a feeling it's going to turn out like one of those car-crash kinda songs. -_-

June 27, 200619 yr Author good news We'll have to wait and see. I'd like them both to have a big hit this year so I hope the song is good.
June 29, 200619 yr Well Janet's record's gonna bomb anyways, its got a Khia duet for 2nd single :puke: And we should all know what means :/ Sounds like a daft duet to me, pointlessness. I mean what are they going to duet about? The various forms of plastic surgery one can partake in? Or about their "baby boy". being in love etc R&B duets rarely work, especially between two big women in the business. It needs origionality much like Brandy and Monica were. Though the way Janet's going I don't expect anything of the sort.

June 29, 200619 yr Author It needs originality much like Brandy and Monica were. Brilliant song. The best, perhaps only, pop music catfight ever.
June 30, 200619 yr Brandy and Monica was fabulous, I can listen to that song for hours and it never bores me.
