Dylan eyes McCartney duet

Thursday, May 7 09:25 am

world entertainment news WENN

Folk legend Bob Dylan has cleared the way for a historic collaboration - insisting he would be happy to record a duet with Sir Paul McCartney.

Last year the former Beatle announced that working with Dylan is one of his major ambitions, hailing the Blowin' In The Wind hitmaker as a musical "genius".

And McCartney's dreams of a collaboration with Dylan could be about to come true - the notoriously reclusive star has admitted he would be open to the idea of a duet.

Dylan tells Rolling Stone magazine, "That would be exciting - to do something with Paul. But, you know, your paths have to cross for something like that to make sense."

And McCartney's representatives are already working on getting the pair together.

A spokesman for the star says, "We heard this offer this morning and we're trying to let Paul know about it. I should think he would be very interested in hearing about it. As you can imagine, it would be a pretty major thing if it went ahead."

Do you think this would be a good idea for these two iconic songwriters to work together or not?

I'm not sure this would work, it could be potentially worse than his collaboration with Michael Jackson, funny how they have never recorded together before in the last 40 years.

Ringo Starr to join Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney collaboration

Plans are afoot for three music legends to record

Former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr is set to join the mooted musical collaboration between his ex-bandmate Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan.

Dylan and McCartney expressed an interest in working with each other earlier this month, with the Daily Express now reporting that Starr will join them on drumming duties in California this summer when they hook up.

"The word is Ringo is likely to play drums on a couple of tracks once Paul and Bob have put some songs together," an anonymous source told the newspaper.

Starr and McCartney appeared together onstage yesterday (June 1) to promote The Beatles: Rock Band' computer game in California.

Any comments on this latest development?

Sounds a bit like the Traveling Wilburies mark 2. Will have to wait and see if this happens.

Maybe they should add the likes of Bruce Springsteen; John Fogerty & Brian Wilson into the mix and see what happens.
