I used to have the single and there's no Smiths credit at all, on either the cover or the record itself. It's a bit strange that MRIB credited it to The Smiths. Here's the cover:

The catalog number is Rough Trade RT130 with The Smith's original being RT131. Perhaps MRIB just combined sales of both versions?

I've often wondered - for whom were MRIB compiling their chart at this time? Record Business had closed the previous year and the Network Chart was 5 months away.

Terri Wells - I wasn't aware that hse had worked with Culture Club. Are you not thinking of Helen Terry who sings on Church Of The Poisoned Mind?

Terri Wells...Yes my mind is playing tricks! She of course, was American and worked with the likes of Roy Ayers and Lou Rawls on the Philly circuit. Maybe I was thinking Helen Terry (also having a hit or two in 84)!

MRIB were still compiling the chart for ILR, with the weekend chart continuing on some Independant stations. Capital Radio`s UK Top 30, was airing on Sundays at 2pm. While Alan Freeman continued to use the new NME Chart on POTP-Take Two, on Saturdays. Some what confusing to the amount of airplay used, which could have been the reason both Kenny Loggins & Phil Collins got those number ones.

The Smiths/Sandie Shaw thing...I reckon just an error on the chart. RT130 is the number quoted by MRIB.
