Posted June 22, 200619 yr From culturedeluxe.com: JJ72 have issued a statement declaring the end of the band. After eleven years and two albums together the band have decided they "do not want to undermine their achievements by continuing a ridiculous argument with a label that would not be able to support the release and touring of the third JJ opus". Although, officially their split statement came in the form of this lovely poem: "Reader, we are to let thee know, JJ72's body only lies below; For could the grave JJ's soul comprise, Earth would be richer than the skies" Singer Mark Greaney is already in the studio working on his new project, details of which will soon be released. Even though we only really liked your first album and had kinda forgotten all about you, CDX salutes an exhilirating live band. http://www.culturedeluxe.com/news_item.asp?id=736
June 22, 200619 yr yeah like them alot, but i suppose on their level theres only so much attention the press will give them before the people writing features in the nme move on to the next big thing. so not surprising really
June 22, 200619 yr I remember the pleasent suprise of seeing Oxygen in the top twenty on CD:UK (and Ant & Dec saying they had A1, Steps, Westlife and JJ72 on ths show  ) their first album was great but there wasn't much to the second one imo but it's still a sad day. :(
June 22, 200619 yr i actually quite enjoyed them and i thought there was a third album been released,,was that shelved i wonder
June 23, 200619 yr said that theyve been going for 11 year!!! hell thats a long long time. didnt realize that they've been around for that long!!! said they were messed around by the record company over the third album. so their might be some good news in that the 3rd album might (if it has been recorded) see the light of day some time in future years
June 29, 200619 yr I remember the pleasent suprise of seeing Oxygen in the top twenty on CD:UK (and Ant & Dec saying they had A1, Steps, Westlife and JJ72 on ths show  ) their first album was great but there wasn't much to the second one imo but it's still a sad day. :( I remember those days of CD:UK very well. JJ72 for me were an antidote to all the $h!tty cheesy pop that was around at the time. I loved October Swimmer in particular, still listen to that a lot now and their debut album was fantastic. I didn't think much of second album I To The Sky, but I was still looking forward to their third album. Not surprised they've split though, it seems to have been on the cards for a while.
