Posted June 23, 200619 yr Am I the only one who doesn't understand why there's all this c**p about dropping him at the moment? Why should we drop the person who's probably been our best player in the past few matches and is the best crosser of the ball in the WORLD so if anyone is going to create chances it's him. -_-
June 23, 200619 yr I really don't understand it either. These last few weeks we've been creating chances SOLELY from the set-pieces and from the long balls. Sure, it may not have worked a treat in the first games because we were playing very defensive sides i.e Paraguay and Trinidad & Tobago; but England will THRIVE on long balls and crosses against Ecuador as we've already seen Ecuador have MAJOR frailties in their defence.
June 23, 200619 yr I think a number of journos and pundits should be checking into drying out clinics when the world cup is over Beckham created England's first 3 goals and is 2nd in the table in the WC for assists Talk of dropping him is insane
June 23, 200619 yr We should possibly TAKE HIM OFF for Lennon with a bit to go, but certainly not DROP him. :manson:
June 23, 200619 yr Listening to Radio Five Live's commentary team of Alan Green, Terry Butcher & Graham Taylor you would think BBC stands for Beckham Bashing Commentators. He did not have a good game in the last match because he had to cover for Jamie Carragher's right-back deficiencies, whilst David Beckham at his best needs the telepathy of his best-mate & old Man Utd right-back team-mate Gary Neville.
June 23, 200619 yr Beckham is a good player, although his best days are behind him IMO. Beckham has recentley come back to form but he has been very very poor for England before. Sure he's the best in the world at Set-Peices, but England have suitable replacements for them in Gerrard, Lampard and J.Cole. The only reason that Beckham still starts for England was that Sven refused to drop him when he was very poor, and should have been dropped in favour of SWP.
June 23, 200619 yr If Beckham ever got dropped he would probably go into a hussy fit and vow to never play for them again, just like when he got dropped at united.
June 25, 200619 yr he threw up. I was eating my tea at the time, mushy peas. Alas, i didnt finish them -_-
