May 31, 200916 yr Im thinking all the negative criticism will have an effect on this film but i doubt that will stop many people from watching it.. Ill be watching it just for the fact that its Sacha Baron Cohen and hes usually a comedic genius so i have high hopes for this
May 31, 200916 yr I just wish that Sacha would come up with some new creations instead of just going over the same old ground all the time.... Ali G and Borat were still relatively fresh, but Bruno is one of Sacha's oldest comedy creations, I just dont see the point, he needs to put fresher material on the table and create new characters, imo.... Tbh, I really didn't like the Ali G film at all, I thought it was rather underdeveloped and lacked any real focus, Borat was much better though.. I've been hearing that there are some pretty creepy under-currents to this film, and that Sacha goes a bit OTT.... So, one has to wonder, is Bruno really doing the Gay community any favours....?

Yeah, I've seen Bruno on C4 late night a couple of times, but never found him funny or interesting. But I was literally in sheer shock when the man asks, "So what's the babies name?" and Sacha replies "I gave him like a traditional african name, OJ". I dunno, I'll obviously go watch it but..
May 31, 200916 yr I dunno, I'll obviously go watch it but.. ..But, you're not exactly expecting much.... ;)
May 31, 200916 yr ..But, you're not exactly expecting much.... ;) No, seeing as I've probably seen it all before.
May 31, 200916 yr I think it looks good even if a bit too shocking maybe? I enjoyed Borat but the quote Josh pointed out made me go . And yeah, it's not exactly going to help the Gay community either. Still I guess I'll watch it though, it looks enjoyable enough from the trailer.
July 5, 200916 yr It's been given an 18 in the UK.. He's going to loose out on millions of £££.. Not really mate... The average cinema-goer age in UK is much older than in the US.... An 18 isn't nearly as damaging in UK as an NC17 is in the States.... It's hard to believe but, there are so many Cinemas in the US that wont actually show a film rated NC17.... Which is just absolutely ridiculous, basically, that says to every single American adult that isn't in a state such as New York or California, that they cant have films showing in multiplexes that are purely for adults purely on some kind of ridiculous "moral code" that big cinema chains in the US operate.... NC17 usually means sex rather than violence... So, the Yanks would rather their kids be exposed to acts of torture and mutilation than sexual scenes... No wonder the US is a fukked-up country.....
July 5, 200916 yr Actually, what disappoints me about this film that I'm hearing, is that Sacha's taken out a scene in which he makes a joke about Michael Jackson.... I'm sorry, but I kinda thought that Sacha's humour was all about pushing boundaries of taste and decency..... Seems to me that this decision does smack somewhat of hypocrisy when you consider he's certainly not given a sh!t about anyone's sensibilities before.... Why should the death of an over-pampered, weirdo Pop Star be cause for him to suddenly do a volte face when he's mercilessly ripped the pish out of everyone and everything before now.....
July 5, 200916 yr Can't wait for this film, it actually looks hilarious. Maybe better than Borat even which I thought was vastly overrated.
July 5, 200916 yr Bruno was always the least funny character imo, but I cannot wait for this! I don't think it will be as good as Borat, but that's because Borat is just one of a kind. The documentary on Channel 4 last night just made me appreciate what a guy Cohen is, and how he uses his characters to test the public's opinion of them. Bruno looks gooood. An 18 certificate won't do it much harm, it'll do well at the box office still and get good reviews. It looks to have more scripted scenes than Borat, but I think that was likely considering how hard Borat was to film with such a basic script.
July 7, 200916 yr Ummmm on my mates Facebook status... July 8, 200916 yr GRIMLY your welcome to blackout/delete any part of my post, i just put it as a reaction that im getting which is not good. Naturally i called her out on her ridiculous statement and she refused to back down She's an idiot.... If I were you mate, I'd block her from your Facebook.... I wouldn't delete that post, I mean why would I, it aint you making the statement, you're just quoting someone else.....
July 8, 200916 yr She's an idiot.... If I were you mate, I'd block her from your Facebook.... I wouldn't delete that post, I mean why would I, it aint you making the statement, you're just quoting someone else..... Oh the person that said the jew part isnt my mate, thank god. Whats even worse is that even after i called her out, she refused to back down/see the error of her ways... I told her that its an 18 for a reason and nobody is forcing her to watch it. Which she then replied that her statement is none of her concern  I have to put up with bigots like this everyday :(
July 9, 200916 yr Pretty mediocre reviews so far... sounds like it's mostly shock-laughs without much context or much of a punchline.
July 9, 200916 yr Author It has a 76% on Rottentomatoes...not AMAZING reviews but I certainly wouldn't call that mediocre. I can sense it dropping though. It'll end up in the 60% zone I bet. Bruno isn't as funny as Borat obviously.
July 9, 200916 yr Can't wait for this now! Hadn't seen the full length trailer until yesterday when I was in the cinema, but it looks hilarious!
