Well realistically we've known this for about 3 months, but its all been confirmed now.

Good, bad or average appointment?

I think he'll be good for Chelsea. It's clear he's been signed with the intention of winning the Champions League, but I still see another 3rd place finish for them at the moment and not winning the Champions League. Will be interesting to see who he gets rid of and who he tries to sign... obviously the likes of Pirlo and Kaka have been linked straight away.

Doubt Chelsea could afford Kaka and where would he play now that Ballack has signed a new contract ? they would never drop Lampard, Chelsea have not spent much recently so can they afford £100m+ for Kaka ? I doubt it

I think how he succeeds depends on his English, Ramos and Scolari were disasters because they couldn't speak the lingo whereas Mourinho was great because he could, if Ancelotti speaks good English he will succeed

if Capello can learn English so can he. The worst kept secret in management is over

Abramovich needs to give him time to settle in and get things how he wants them. Not forever standing in Morinho's shadows.

Capello only has to use English half a dozen times a year whereas Ancelotti will have to continually motivate and inspire £100k a week + prima donnas 52 weeks a year, totally different task

Well until he wins the Champions League he'll always be living in Mourinho's shadow (like all Chelsea managers).

Kaka won't cost £100m either, probably more around 60-70m Euros (stupid, stupid money).

Avram Grant took them further in the CL than Mourinho ever did so CL wise everyone at Chelsea is in Grant's shadow

true, but he never won the league  Swings & roundabouts. It's obvious Roman wants the CL though.

Time equals success. Chop and change at Newcastle and look what happened there :kink:

But Mourinho was the 'special one'! The Chelsea fans adored him. He was an absolute cock, and i'd have loved to have punched him in is Chelsea days but ever since he's gone Chelsea have become well, as VERY dull outfit. As much as I hate the man, I can't deny Fergie is entertaining with his mind games so the media loves him. The same goes for Benitez and Wenger. They play the game so they become popular with fans and the media. This is what Mourinho was like, and Abramovic is wanting Ancelotti to put "personality" back into Chelsea FC.

Of course it's going to be a big re-building programe. Imo it will be 4-5 years before they will be able to consistently compete with Liverpool and Man Utd again.

And us :o

The number of managers we have had in the last 15 years is not far off Real Madrid levels :o

Agree with what you say in general but Wenger for me is the most annoying cock in football, Mourinho didn't bother me really he was entertaining but Wenger despite his undoubted ability is my biggest hate figure in football bar Sol Campbell

When someone hurts or fouls a Scum player he is up in arms about it and calls for long bans and in the case of the guy who broke Eduardo's leg a life ban while at the same time when the likes of Eboue do vile things Wenger "never saw it" , that sort of double standards really annoys me and tarnishes any ability the guy may have as a football coach

Well we both have a bit of bias! Being a Liverpool fan, there's been too many run-ins with Mourinho for my liking. Especially his "sssssh" moment. Seriously I can't wait till Liverpool next play Inter Milan and all the Liverpool fans do it (if we win obv). Will definitely be funny and to be fair to Mourinho he'd probably laugh it off. Doesn't stop him from being a cock though.

LOL yeah wil be fun

Still not convinced in terms of you guys tbh, you had a really good season just gone but am not sure you have the money to seriously compete for the title or that Rafa is going to stay there long term, you will certainly be top 3 or 4 every year but I don't see you mounting a title challenge for a while really due to £

Rafa just signed a new contract, and now Rick Parry's gone he's basically got what he wants which equals a happy Rafa. We've emplyed the former Barca youth director who was responsible for the likes of Messi, Iniesta, Bojan, Xavi etc. coming through the youth team as our youth director, so hopefully from now our youth policy will be over-seen properly. Kenny will be back into the club as an ambassador like Sir Bobby is at Man Utd.

We don't have the financial funds that Man Utd and Arsenal have because of our stadium revenue. But I fear that won't be sorted out until the cowboys leave which i don't see happening in the near future. Rafa's reportedly got £20m to spend plus whatever funds he gets from players. We've basically got about £2m from sales already, and I can see players like Dossena, Degen, Voronin and Babel leaving. Which would raise another £20m. Then we've various youth and reserve players that will leave for small sums of money and if Alonso goes he'll give us £25m to raise towards new players. Imo we need a new right back, back-up centre forward, versatile forward player (for the left and right) and another centre mid. We will sign one big player this summer but who that is I am not sure.
