Her voice sounds very strained but not a bad song. Leona is much better though, like honestly, In terms of vocals.

Yeah the tone and sometimes even the strain makes Alexandra's voice really sexy.

I don't think they can compete vocally though, and I don't think anybody ever really questioned it.

However, Alexandra will prove, I believe, that she $h!ts all over Leona as an artist (and I love Leona). When you get a song like 'Forgive Me' which with it's Akon input and indeed general brilliance as a song could have been one of the years biggest smashes (and don't say anything about it being a fourth single or whatever because Run came after it!) you can't afford to turn it as limp as Leona did. She just can't DO upbeats very well, which is the single reason no matter how many times Alex is called out on her vocals '...compared to Leona', she can still be a necessary UK popstar!

 

As for 'Overcome', it's nice enough but a bit predictable. I can see the Battlefield thing but it's not as good and I think (hope?) the Syco camp have got something better than this up their sleeve and indeed the sense to know they need something beyond incredible.

Not keen on her tone on the leaked song - she sounds strained. Song really doesn't seem to suit her voice.

 

Hmm, it would be good, if Battlefield had never been released, lol. ALL of Ryan Teddler's songs sound the same, he casically recycled the beat from Battlefield for this song, wow. And it's just not her, Maybe one or two power ballads will be good but I definately think that her voice reminds me more of Toni Braxton and so I would like to see more darker, deeper ballads. The first song should def. be uptempo IMO.

I've gone through stage of looping Overcome. Really like it.

 

No idea why as they dont really sound alike but theres a couple of points where I keep expecting to hear Faith Hill's There You'll Be. :heehee:

This is very generic. I think she's got a strong voice, but I don't think this is how they should market Alexandra. With that said, I highly doubt this will be the lead single, and if it is, this era will be destined for failure.

Hmm, I dunno, i've never personally felt convinced about Leona's ballads and emotion, but her voice obviously makes up for it whereas I always have always felt it with Alex. And for me, emotion is the most important thing. I don't like to see these two compared though, although it will inevitable happen.

That's fine, not everyone connects with the same thing. Some say they get no emotion from Mariah and others say they do in bundles. For me I hear lots of emotion with Leona and feel she has a very expressive voice. Alex does too but without the technical ability of Leona IMO.

I agree, I think Leona gives out a lot of emotion with her songs, even though Alex does, it just needs an uptempo song for it.

So, um, another song "Perfect" has leaked. Like "Overcome", I find the song so uninspiring. This wasn't what I was hoping for. Here's to hoping these are lame left-over tracks that don't make the album.

I dont mind it, the beat is nice and it's a chill out, but i'm expecting more from the other songs. Dont disappoint us, Alex!

Yeah I did lol. Its kinda stupid considering leaks happen all the time.

'Perfect' is a bit meh, nothing great tbh.

Label 'upset by Burke demo leaks'

 

Two demos for Alexandra Burke's debut album have been leaked online, reportedly infuriating record label Syco.

 

According to The Sun, recordings of 'Overcome' and 'Perfect' were supposedly stolen by hackers who gained access to producers' computers.

 

A source said: "The leaked songs are very rough early demos which were recorded months ago. We don't even know yet if they will make the final cut.

 

"Label bosses are furious and everyone is in a panic. Sony have spent thousands of pounds over the past few weeks investigating the sources of the leaks."

 

They added: "We are now pretty close to nailing the people responsible but it's been a nightmare."

 

Fellow X Factor 2008 competitor Diana Vickers confirmed that one of her own tracks had been leaked online earlier this week.
