June 2, 200916 yr Complicated. So could Arsenal potentially meet say, Athletico Madrid or Lyon? (I always thought that would be the case, but i'm not sure whether it is) Its definitely a lot harder to qualify though.

I'd still expect them to win though whoever they're playing, bar maybe Athletico Madrid/Celtic.

June 2, 200916 yr Nahh Barcelona won't win it. They have quite a few players going to the Confederations Cup, so they won't get much of a summer, so the likes of Iniesta and Xavi will have playing for pretty much 2 years without much of a break. It will take their toll on them. Eto'o and Henry aren't getting any younger either. Madrid look to be signing some good players, but their defence is weak, and Casillas has been very poor this season. They'll do well domestically, but i'm not sure they'll p*** the Champions League. I fully expect barring any QF draw that pits them against each other, that Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd will be in the semis.

It wasn't the perfect draw for Arsenal but it could have been worse (Atlético Madrid or Fiorentina). It will be 2 nice games between the british side, Celtic usually is good against English teams but I think Arsenal will pass. Lyon vs Anderlecht I'm impressed for the friendly games of Lyon, but if they do it seriously they should pass. Sporting vs. Fiorentina It’s better for Sporting to face Fiorentina than Atletico Madrid. .Sporting are not in form, and they played really bad against Twente. I think Fiorentina is slightly favorite, but I hope that Sporting can make it. Panathinaikos v Atletico Madrid Panathinaikos have won against tougher opponents, such as Inter in last years Champions League, but Atletico are still clear favourites here. Timişoara v Stuttgart The German side are favorites, but Timişoara eliminated Shakhtar so they shouldn't be underestimated.
