Yeah I really like Britneys music but there is no way I would pay to hear the record again with her dancing about, I've never seen anyone in concert miming out of choice and don't ever intend to, I'd rather go to see someone who can't sing live than someone who mimes.

I'm going to see her in Manchester and fully expect to see her mime.

I guess she could at least try and mime the ballads, as I remember when I went to see Steps, they used to mime the faster songs (understandably) and sing the slower songs.

It's huge for her to be touring after the past couple of years she's had, so I can understand why her routines aren't as full on as usual, she's not as healthy as she once was.

Fair enough for mounting a defence, but I just dont believe in principle that it's in anyway "okay" for an act to mime their performances and then charge an arm and a leg for the privelege....

 

How is it "understandable" to mime the faster songs....? That would be a bit like Slayer or Metallica pretending to play the really breakneck tracks because, I dunno, maybe the poor darlings will get blisters on their fingers or, *gasp*, break a nail from having to play their instruments fast..... :rolleyes: I've seen bands actually BLEED from their fingers onstage because they were playing a song fast.... That's REAL mate.... They're BLEEDING for us and not giving a fukk.... That's commitment....

absolutely, it finished their career when it was discovered that they didnt sing ... and this highlights exactly how far standards in pop music (thanks watertwat :angry: ) have fallen... because britney fans dont fcukin care wether or not she mimes. it used to be a CRIME to mime, music is an art form created by people with talent. the acceptance of these fake plastic packages by todays youth is frankly worrying in the extreme.

Britney is just an entertainer because she doesnt sing live, she isnt a musician.

 

What does everyone think about Katy Perry? she does sing live but gets bad reports about it because it sounds 'worse' than the cd's. I would much rather see katy than britney even if katy cant sing live at least she tries. If you're going to a gig and expecting it to sound exactly like the cd, then why bother going, of course its gonna sound different.

 

Pink has always sang live, even when spinning around in the air, doing trapeze acts and being suspended in a net with no safetly harness, thats one of the reasons why her gigs are so good, she puts in so much hard work.

 

I'm (hopefully) going to see MJ in jan next year, but I doubt he'll last that long so I'm thinking about selling my ticket and either save the money for Pink's next album/tour when I plan to go to aus to see her, or get more tickets for when she comes back over here in oct this year

Woah how did this turn into a thread about Michael Jackson? (For my part, I love his music, he's my favourite act of all-time, but I wouldn't see him live because I don't think he's up to it and I DO think he's weird and has done things he shouldn't have done.)

 

Moving onto the topic in hand, I WOULD pay to see Britney "live" even though she lip-synchs purely because she's up there with my favourite acts ever. That said, if an artist sings live I'd be very impressed and obviously it's preferable. Going to see Girls Aloud, who actually sang live, was such a buzz, especially because imo they DID sound like their CDs and showcased how talented they are ^_^

here comes the usual "he sleeps with boys" thing. i absolutely agree that he shouldn't sleep with children but if you were to actually take some time to read about why he does stuff like that then you'd understand. for example he didn't have a childhood and he feels like a kid himself so he sees nothing wrong with what he's doing. again, i don't agree with men sleeping with children and if i had a kid i definitely wouldn't let them sleep in another mans bed but still, he did nothing wrong.

 

i said this somewhere else, if you were the parents of the child who allegedly got abused by mj, would you accept money to shut up about it which is what they did? i very much doubt it and if you would you're just as sick as you're making michael and his fans out to be.

 

anyway back to the lypsyncing thing. i don't see a problem with it as long as they put on a good show though i'd much rather go to a gig where they do sing live. i went to the oasis gig at heaton park yesterday and if they would have mimed (which they never would because they can actually sing unlike some people) the they would have been slaughtered by the crowd. i think it depends on the artist. bands like oasis are all about the singing whereas artists like britney are all about putting on a show.
