Recording with Robbie!

Well, what a great day I had yesterday. I was commissioned to photograph Robbie Williams at a recording studio in London. Robbie his crew and management were great, they made me very welcome and I found that we had a common interest in football, Crystal Palace, Port Vale and Liverpool supporters amongst us, which kept the conversation flowing into the night. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and thank everyone particularly Robbie and Trevor for allowing me to document the day without restriction. I am very pleased with the images and will be spending today in post-production to create the documentary feel that I have in mind for the pictures. The images are embargoed at present, but I hope to post a couple of images here once they have been published in the press.

OLD BEFORE I DYE, HAS ROBBIE WILLIAM BEEN HITTING THE BOTTLE

http://i40.tinypic.com/2vm8ydf.jpg

Last week Robbie Williams was spotted out in London with salt and pepper streaks through his chestnut hair.

But when the former Take That singer arrived at Miami International airport en route to a Caribbean holiday in the early hours of this morning, the only grey to be seen was in his old-man chic cardi.

The grey and distinguished look, that makes some women weak at the knees, had mysteriously vanished from the Old Before I Die singer's head leaving youthful, glossy chestnut locks in its place.

Just for men: Has Robbie been at the hair dye after spotting pictures of himself sporting touches of grey last week?

Before and after: Robbie out in London with notable grey streaks through his hair and this morning with what looks like chestnut highlights

The change prompted onlookers to wonder whether Robbie, who is only 35, had hit the hair dye.

The singer was spotted at the airport with his American actress girlfriend, Ayda Field and his dad, Pete Conway who will both accompany him on the luxury holiday.

The trio cut a rather tired picture but Ayda still managed to look chic in Ray Bans style sunglasses with a dash of pink lipstick.

Robbie meanwhile wore a short-sleeved checkered shirt under the cardigan that showed off his honed biceps and a number of tattoos.

Going grey has obviously been a growing problem for the singer who sported the first flecks when he grew a bushy beard two years ago.

The troubled star has been recording a new album in a bid to revive his career after his last album, 2006's Rudebox registered poor sales compared to his previous albums.

He was forced to cancel a tour of Asia in the same year after suffering from stress and exhaustion while he also endured a spell in an Arizona rehab clinic for an addiction to anti-depressants.

His fortunes are in stark contrast to his former Take That bandmates who have enjoyed a hugely successful comeback since they reformed three years ago without the singer.

The group, who split in 1996, released a new album, Beautiful World in 2007 and which became the fourth biggest selling album of the year.

They won two Brit Awards for the first two singles from the album, which also went to number one in the charts along with their follow-up album The Circus which was released last year.

They have also announced plans for a lucrative tour beginning next month, to cash in on their new-found popularity.

Despite speculation that Williams would rejoin Take That for the tour, his management has insisted that he is 'not ready' to perform with his old bandmates.

Instead Williams is trying to re-establish himself as a solo artist.

Then and now: Robbie with his jet black bonce in 2005 and this morning with a softer chestnut look

In January, he returned to Britain after five years living Los Angeles along with the American actress.

He now lives in a 71-acre country mansion in Wiltshire.

If he's heading off on a Caribbean holiday do you think that means his new album is finished? :w00t:

EMI Music Publishing has turned its focus to signing Robbie Williams after recapturing his long-time songwriting partner Guy Chambers.

Chambers has agreed a long-term administration deal with the publisher, two years after hooking up with B-Unique’s publishing arm when his last agreement with EMI ended.

The new deal covers future compositions as well as his catalogue, including his collaborations with Robbie Williams, whose own publishing is subject to extensive interest after coming on to the market.

EMI Publishing UK president Guy Moot says Chambers has returned “bang on form and doing some of the best stuff of his life”.

“We had a trial separation and we’ve come back together and both sides felt they really missed each other,” says Moot, whose company originally published Chambers’ songs from 2000 to 2007.

Now, he concedes he wants to reunite – at his company, at least – Chambers and Williams, whose own publishing is currently available with his last deal at Universal Music Publishing (formerly BMG Music Publishing) having concluded. “Of course we are [interested],” says Moot, whose company is part of a fierce battle to win Williams’ catalogue and future compositions. “I don’t want to be greedy but I want both [Williams and Chambers]. They’re incredible songwriters.”

This latest deal with Chambers has happened in partnership with US-based publishing company Liberal Arts, which was formed by David Massey and is run by Ben Tischker. It was Liberal Arts which took on Chambers’ publishing for the world ex-Europe when he signed a European deal with B-Unique’s publishing division in 2007.

Explaining EMI’s “trial separ-ation” with Chambers, Moot notes, “He tried another route. He wanted to try an independent company in the UK. He has a very good relationship with David Massey and Liberal Arts and this new deal ticks all the boxes. He gets Liberal Arts in America and gets our company in America and the full team here.

“The timing is right. There is going to be much more of a demand for songwriters. The way things are going the market is more song-based and we’re coming out of a band phase.”

Chambers says it feels good to be back at EMI. “I’m in the business of writing hits and I’m excited about the opportunities that this new publishing deal will open up for me to help me get even more of them,” he notes.

His current projects are heavily concentrated on new artist projects and include him writing with Atlantic Records signing Paloma, Mercury’s Tiffany Paige and Razor and Tie’s Kelly Sweet. “He enjoys being challenged and stretched by new young artists,” says his brother and manager Dylan Chambers. “He doesn’t want to do the predictable, working with the usual A-list writers.”

However, he has reunited with Robbie Williams, having last written with him for the 2002 album Escapology.

Williams’ co-manager Tim Clark told Music Week in January “there may be” a song with Chambers on the singer’s forthcoming album. This, Dylan Chambers reveals, was written last July, but it is too early to say whether it will end up on the new album. “It was a great experience,” he says of the songwriting reunion, adding the pair are on “very friendly terms and all the animosities are in the past”.

Moot describes the new Williams songs he has heard so far in demo form as “amazing”.

“I’m just blown away with the songs,” he says. “I know he’s been through a lot but he’s come back and written about his journey and nobody writes lyrics and metaphors like Robbie Williams,” says Moot.

EMI Publishing did very briefly have both Williams and Chambers on its roster having poached Chambers in 2000 from BMG. However, BMG exacted revenge on EMI shortly afterwards by prising Williams away from EMI.

American Journalists Robbed, Two Arrested

By IANTHIA SMITH

Two Bahamian men were arrested Monday for allegedly robbing two American journalists at gunpoint in Staniel Cay, Exuma on Saturday, police have confirmed.

The journalists were reportedly robbed of $20,000 worth of items.

Police were reportedly hoping to question popular British singer Robbie Williams and his crew. It is unclear why Mr. Williams is in The Bahamas.

There is speculation that a confrontation between the reporters and Mr. Williams’ entourage may be tied to the robbery.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Raymond Gibson yesterday refused to confirm or deny if anyone from Mr. Williams’ camp would be questioned.

However, Central Detective Unit (CDU) Chief Ellsworth Moss said while information surrounding the matter is still sketchy, police are investigating to find out exactly what happened.

"We’re getting some information regarding that," he said. "We are in the process of speaking to (officials in) Exuma with respect to that, I don’t have all the information before me at this time, but it is something we are looking into. We are investigating."

An anonymous source and friend of 30-year-old Splash News and Picture Agency reporter from Miami, Matt Sanchez and his freelance photographer, only known as "Carl," said she briefly spoke to the pair after the incident happened.

She said the two were in Staniel Cay over the weekend trying to take photographs and get interviews with the singer.

The source claims that problems ensued shortly after that.

According to the source, Mr. Sanchez allegedly reported that Mr. Williams’ entourage starting getting rowdy and confronted the journalists.

Shortly after that she said, both groups parted ways and thought that that would be the end of the argument.

"But Saturday they were asleep around 3am and then they heard someone smash through the patio doors," she claimed.

"Two men entered their room and forced them to the ground and threatened them with guns. These men then asked them what they do for a living, which I found quite strange because why would robbers ask that. As they were on the ground, these men robbed them of absolutely everything. The they told them, don’t call the police or we’ll kill you."

The source alleged that Mr. Sanchez was robbed of $20,000 worth of camera equipment, clothes, underwear, wallets, passports and "everything else the robbers could get their hands on."

Mr. Sanchez and "Carl" were reportedly flown to New Providence Monday where they spent the day, at the U.S. Embassy trying to get travel documents and other official information in order to return home.

Police officials said they are following some "good leads" into the case.

British Journalist “Shaken” By Robbery

By IANTHIA SMITH

A British journalist, who was allegedly robbed in Staniel Cay, Exuma last week, says he is still shaken by the incident and doubts that he will return to The Bahamas.

Matheus (Matt) Sanchez, 30, spoke to the Bahama Journal Tuesday says he will not give up his fight to find out who robbed him, and is hoping the police is determined to do the same.

Armed robbers burst into Mr. Sanchez’s room on Saturday and robbed him of $20,000 worth of camera equipment and other items.

"It’s obviously a terrifying incident," he said. "When you turn around and you see these men with shotguns smashing through your front door and just rushing towards you with a gun pointed at your face, you don’t know what’s going to happen and you think anything can happen, no matter how calm you are, and we were relatively calm given the situation."

"Anything could have happened, they could have gotten spooked and we didn’t know what was going to happen. As soon as a window gets smashed you realize that you’re in a situation that’s completely out of your control and you know that these guys are ready to do anything."

The Splash News and Picture Agency reporter from Miami and his freelance photographer, 46-year-old Carlos Mendez, were in Staniel Cay over the weekend trying to take photographs and get interviews with the singer.

Mr. Sanchez said later that night they were asleep around 3 a.m. when they heard someone smash through the patio doors. He said about three or four men burst into their room and forced them to the ground, threatening them with guns.

The pair left the country and arrived back in Miami Monday night.

Mr. Moss said the fact that the men are no longer in the country is making it increasingly difficult for the police to carry out its investigations.

However, Mr. Sanchez says while he is thankful for the help he got from tourism officials and Exuma residents, he is not sure how he feels about visiting the island again.

"If I’m being perfectly honest, personally I couldn’t help but think twice about going back, just because it was a traumatizing experience," he said.

"But it seems to me like an isolated incident, and that’s what everybody’s telling me, which to me seems like it may have to do with what happened to us earlier in the day or what we were doing there. But I wouldn’t tell people, ‘don’t go because you might get robbed’ because it seems like a very unusual specific case."

He said at this point he has no plans to take legal action and will let the police handle the matter.

Meantime, police have confirmed that a third man, believed to be involved in the alleged armed robbery, turned himself in to authorities on Tuesday.

Central Detective Unit (CDU) Chief Ellsworth Moss said police are questioning the trio in connection with the matter.

But Mr. Moss said local police are still trying to bring some clarity to the matter, as the information they have received so far is still sketchy, making it harder for them to find out exactly what happened that night.

"We still don’t know where we are with this," he said. "We are still investigating and trying to get more information to see what went on. Things are still sketchy."

Mr. Moss added that his team is working to see what other information it can gather as police can only hold the two men who were taken into custody on Monday for up to 48 hours before formally charging them or releasing them.

The British journalist and American photographer were reportedly robbed of more than $20,000 worth of items.

Reports are that popular British singer Robbie Williams, who was in Exuma at the time, and his crew may also be questioned. The reporter and his photographer were involved in an altercation with Williams’ entourage earlier. There is speculation that the confrontation could be linked to the robbery.

However, Assistant Commissioner of Police Raymond Gibson has refused to confirm or deny this claim.

I reckon they are trying to ensure that story gets legs...how come the British media are ignoring it
its world wide news

I did laugh at the police chief's comment yesterday following the report that 3 local men were in custody

' Mr Williams is not suspected of being one of the people who actually carried out the robbery'

No $h!t Einstein. Still, he did wear that mask and carry out an armed robbery in that Road to Mandalay video so maybe the cops thought they were on to something ...

Anyway, Robbie was apparently no use at all

UPDATE Robbie Williams quizzed by police in Bahamas

Singer had no information that could assist police

Friday, 26 June 2009

Robbie Williams was quizzed by cops investigating an armed robbery in the Bahamas yesterday - but he was unable to help.

Photographers Matt Sanchez and Carlos Mendez were held at gunpoint in their cottage in Staniel Cay by three men on Sunday.

Hours earlier, the pair had taken snaps of Robbie, 35, at a nearby beach.

Police have been interviewing holidaymakers – including the singer – who were at the resort to find out if they saw anything suspicious.

Robbie, who is not being treated as a suspect, had no useful information.

'We spoke to Mr Williams,' Criminal Investigation Department head Elsworth Moss tells The Sun. 'There is nothing that was able to assist us.'

Three local men have been arrested, but were released without charge.

Our Heroes: 'Shy Robbie will be just thrilled at this'

Monday, June 29, 2009, 09:20

ROBBIE Williams is used to receiving awards for his music – but now he has been nominated as a Sentinel Hero for the work he does for charity.

While the singer, above, may have long left his native Stoke-on-Trent, the Potteries are never far from his thoughts, as he has shown in his song lyrics and interviews. And numerous charities and community groups have been given cash by the singer, through the Give It Sum fund he set up for Comic Relief in 2000.

Then, Robbie used £2 million he earned from advertising Pepsi cola to launch the venture so he could give back to worthy causes in the city of his birth.

Since then he has donated generously to help set up a number of charities and community groups; provided children's play equipment, football team strips and tackled poverty; and ploughed cash into schools and education.

Now, after winning 15 Brit Awards – more than any other artist – Robbie has been nominated for a Sentinel Our Heroes Award in the Charity Champion category.

John Reynolds, chairman of Holden Lane Residents' Association, is grateful to Robbie for the £30,000 he provided to build a new playground on land off Repington Road, Sneyd Green.

Mr Reynolds said: "Robbie has put a lot of money into Sneyd Green over the years. It was Robbie Williams who first started our residents' association with a donation of £500.

"If it wasn't for Robbie we wouldn't exist and we wouldn't have been able to build the playground. In fact, if it wasn't for Robbie there are a lot of community groups that wouldn't exist today."

The Give It Sum Fund allocates grants of up to £30,000 to community organisations with an income under £150,000. The fund has given out more than 260 grants since it was set up.

Kerry Bradbury, secretary of Newcastle Albion Football Team, says the singer bought coats and jumpers for the under-10s players.

She said: "It's great to see Robbie being recognised for the good work he does."

Robbie's mum Jan Williams is a director of the charity. She said: "I think it's really good of them to nominate him. He has never asked for anything in return from anyone.

"He's just glad he's been able to do something. Robbie will be thrilled, but in a shy way."

She added: "It has been lovely to be part of it, to make a difference.

"And you can see the difference Give It Sum has made. It has been a most wonderful period, one of the best of my life.

"Robert wanted it to be a hand up, not a hand out."

:cheer:
