So we have a title for her new single. It will be called "Obsessed" and apparently Mariah thinks it's one of her best ever. :o

The 1st single from my new album "Memoirs of an imperfect angel" is called "Obsessed" and will be at radio next tuesday. I'm a lil' excited!

Seriously, this is one of my favorite songs ever. I love the whole album. I'm completely immersed in it. I can't wait for you to hear it. LY

 

So it looks like they aren't going with "Hate U" (which I think I'm glad about, based on what we heard) can't believe we'll be hearing it in about a week! :o

Especially since last time it took them a bout 4 months to decide on a single LOL. This must be good, she has a pretty good track record when it comes to lead singles so I'm excited!

I love Touch My Body but I'm hoping this'll be a little more like It's Like That. Super-cool, slick, slightly hip-hop...

This just too great. I'm hoping for a hot uptempo, too. I wonder if they're going to bring the album release forward? I'm thinking late July-early August would be the best period to release the record. Man, she's going to come back hard this time...

Me neither! I thought the break between Emancipation and E=MC2 was normal for her, so the single coming just over a year after the last album seems so quick!

MariahCarey So"Obsessed" is an uptempo fun summer record. We were gonna go w/the ballad 1st but don't worry,its coming. I tried to make something.. For all who love Butterfly, and even older albums,but"Obsessed" has to come out 1st, asap!! Its different for me,but clearly,its SO me!

 

Hoping that means it's a bit more "Migrate" or "It's Like That" than something like "I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time", really hoping this sounds BIG.

 

Not sure if they'll be bringing it forward, perhaps they want to do two singles before the album? Hopefully they don't go with the ballad second and it does a "Bye Bye" on her. :(

Well apparently the cut-off date for Grammy nominations is the 31st of August and Mariah wants the album released before then because she thinks the album really deserves it's rightful shot at The Grammy's. :o

Even moreso than with E=MC2 to be honest... Even though we haven't waited that long for this album, it seems like FOREVER. I think it's because as soon as the E=MC2 started it was over because after the 1 promo date for Bye Bye the project was over aside from her one-off on The X-Factor. So it was like a mini album more than anything. Cannot WAIT! :D

I actually think it says a lot about Mariah that she got to work on this album as soon as it was apparent that E=MC2 was done. She's so savvy! Most divas would be like 'no I need my five-year holiday darling!'. NOT MIMI.

Just read on MariahDaily that apparently "Obsessed" is a collaboration with producers The-Dream and Tricky Stewart. Hmm...I liked "Touch My Body" but I kinda hope this isn't too similar to that.

That could be true because it would work in conjunction with the whole Grammy thing... I'm with Aaron though, I like Tricky and The Dream but a Touch My Body Part II is NOT what I want from the lead single. It's my least favourite lead single, I still like it, but it's certainly not one of her better tracks. Still keeping in mind that the same people worked on Rihanna's "Umbrella" it could be a lot different than we're expecting! :D

Oh yeah, I do like a bit of "Touch My Body" and "My Love" but, like Kelly, I don't really want one as a lead single again.

 

I can't believe it's so soon! That mean's we might get it on the 24th as we got it the day before the US last time. I was expecting a Christmas release for some reason but we get Mariah in late August then my fave, Beverley Knight, is releasing in early September. :w00t:

Brett Ratner to direct "Obsessed" music video!

 

Mariah has confirmed via a Twitter direct message to Australian fan Dani that Brett Ratner will be directing the music video for "Obsessed," the lead single from her upcoming album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.

"Obsessed" will be Mariah and Brett's 7th music video they have collaborated on. Brett previously directed Mariah's "I Still Believe" (1998), "Heartbreaker" (1999), "Thank God I Found You" (2000), "It's Like That" (2005), "We Belong Together" (2005) and "Touch My Body" (2008) music videos.

Well I do love those videos, especially "Heartbreaker". Looks like we should be in for a treat with it, going for the director of "Touch My Body" for this as well...

 

"Obsessed" to World Premiere on Chicago's B96

Chicago's #1 hit music station, B96 will be premiering "Obsessed" on Tuesday, June 16th at 3:00pm Central Time (4:00pm EST).

 

According to B96, they will be getting the song on Tuesday afternoon at 3:00pm or so local time and plan to play it right away!

Great news, I am excited about this. Oh, upbeat. :) Well that suits me, I am in an upbeat mood now.

 

Coupled with the film news, this should be an exciting, though possibly exhausting year for Mariah.
