Okay so first we have had all these blogs, which have subsequently made internet and radio news. Then we got the tracklisting and release date. Then a week later we've got the album title, and i'm guessing within the next 7-10 days we'll get first single details and artwork. Seems like good marketing from their management for me. They've slowly released all the information about their comeback for the internet, radio and bloggers to make news about which creates more hype and excitement. Kinda makes up for them not releasing a free single which would have added a lot of publicity to them.

Dunno about everyone else, but i'm certainly not expecting this album to be HUGE in overall sales terms. Should have very strong initial sales, but after that unless there's a killer 2nd single, i'm struggling to see how the album will sell very well in the long run. Not that I care.

I think the marketing has been brilliant so far! Well it's certainly got me intrigued anyway! :P

They've could've gone down the now usual route of a free download, so I think it was good for them not to do that in the end. That would've been a bit predictable and I think Arctic Monkeys will always be different to other indie bands around at the time.

I also like how they've slowly been releasing album info, not just in one big bulk - makes it all the more exciting!

I agree Cremey. The way they are releasing info one step at time wets people's appetites and constantly gets them in NME and on other internet sites. I think releasing the album title over Facebook and MySpace was a good step too - hopefully gets people to get more involved with the social network side of things.

Really looking forward to the first single now. Word on the street is it's going to Crying Lightning, which is probably the best thing i've ever heard lyrically from them, but i'm not overly keen on the song at the moment from the live versions, as it's very different to their old style. Hopefully something will be announced in the near future though.
