June 28, 200916 yr Author Hmmm not sure. I guess it'll be released the week/ two weeks before the album. That suggests the single will be added to radio late July/ early August, I assume? Apparently the album will have a more electronic sound compared to their previous material! :o
September 9, 200915 yr Author First post updated with the album cover and tracklisting. First single 'Papillon': xyJy4exg89M
September 12, 200915 yr I really love Editors, even their much-maligned second album which I think came in for unfair slating... and this is a great track, too - sounds like something from 1982.... kinda Killing Joke feel about it. Hate the album cover, though - doesn't work at all and the image is a bit Lemon Jelly.....
September 18, 200915 yr that's one helluva boring video - has echoes of Depeche Mode's 'Wrong', Coldplay's 'Fix You' and some of the later Massive Attack. It's so pointless having promo videos that don't feature the band or any performance....or any remote connection to the song. This is a superb single, however.... but I can't see it finding a place on Radio One apart from Edioth Bowman's show...
September 21, 200915 yr This is a STONKING tune..... Bloody superb, echoes of early New Order/Killing Joke, like Russ says, excellent stuff, god, if the rest of the album's up to this standard, it'll absolutely fukkin' ROCK...... This is more dark, atmospheric and moody and downright GOTHIC, than about 99% of the absolute SH!T that has the nerve to call itself by that name these days.... And yet, do you think that this song would be played in an actual "Goth Club"....? like fukk it would.... Too many people who go there still have their heads stuck up their asses and only want to hear "This Corrosion" or "Love Cats" for about the fukkin' MILLIONTH TIME..... Whereas the good modern, darker stuff like this, Interpol, The Birthday Massacre, Ladytron, The Horrors, etc, get criminally left off the play lists due to narrow-minded punters..... I actually kind of like the video tbh Russ mate..... But, I'm sort of a fan of videos which use seemingly random imagery.... It kind of makes sense to me after a few viewings tbh.....

Nothing ever changes in Goth clubs. I remember Feed me With your Kiss being played at my local Goth hangout when it was released and I was the only one dancing. BTW, back on thread, Papillon is an excellent single. Totally agree with the New Order influence.

September 21, 200915 yr Papillon is AMAZING  This band were never on my radar for sure, but this is the most amazing gothic synth pop track, like classic Depeche Mode. I really hope the rest of the album is this good. Is their old stuff anything like this?
September 22, 200915 yr Is their old stuff anything like this? Not really, it's much more guitar-led, first album recalls 80s Indie-Guitar Pop stuff like Echo and the Bunnymen, Teardrop Explodes, Psychedelic Furs, etc, second one maintains that, but strays slightly too much into Coldplay territory for my liking, tracks like "Bones" are great though... This does appear to be a change of direction, and a very welcome one, IMO....
September 26, 200915 yr Anyone see them on Jools Holland last night. The 2nd song Eat Raw Meat sounded superb, REALLY excited for the album now, surprise album of the year perhaps
September 27, 200915 yr Anyone see them on Jools Holland last night. The 2nd song Eat Raw Meat sounded superb, REALLY excited for the album now, surprise album of the year perhaps  Indeed... Muse have dropped an absolute atom bomb on us, but I think Editors could be the secondary blast tbh.... This is really sounding like a great album.....
September 27, 200915 yr Indeed... Muse have dropped an absolute atom bomb on us, but I think Editors could be the secondary blast tbh.... This is really sounding like a great album..... muse or editors better than the horrors? what do you think of the new stuff compared to the older stuff scott? maybe worth a listen if you reccomend it lol, i have always found them a bit dull/boring/repetitive especially the last album.
September 28, 200915 yr ^ Prefer the first album to the second one personally, but there are still some good songs on the second one too... First is definitely more straight-forward Indie Pop/Rock with a darkish tinge to it... Influenced by the likes of Julian Cope/Teardrop Explodes/Pete Murphy/Echo and the Bunnymen.... This new stuff is a lot darker though, I can see that straight off, I think Editors have undergone a similar musical progression as The Horrors did from "Strange House" to "Primary Colours".... It definitely pleases me that Indie music has gotten a fair bit darker and more into "art rock" this year... This will definitely be a good companion piece to my Muse and Horrors albums.... I can honestly say that "Papillion" is the best Goth tune I've heard in a long, long time....
September 30, 200915 yr Album leaked. It has, but it's only a lower quality torrent just now (192kbps).... I'm gonna wait for 320..... Really is rather funny how these "leaks" seem to continually happen innit....?
September 30, 200915 yr Really liking it atm. The Boxer seems to be the superior track on the record.
