July 2, 200916 yr Author Hmmm I don't think that's necessarily true. I mean 50 Million (or whatever it is) sales of an album would lead to quite a lot of anticipation for the next release and I remember this being so. At least for Bad. Well more like with an extremely heavy heart for me. sorry i wasnt clear enough i was refering to his 'golden age', when he returned to recording in 78-9 after a 6 year break. 'bad' may well have been anticipated, but that was well after 'thriller' and 'off the wall', the albums that launched him proper. by 'bad' he was far more like the freak we are familiar with now. 'off the wall' didnt even reach #1, peaking at #5. i think theres a habit of todays fans having a skewed view of what the past was REALLY like. by 1990 he had only had 3 #1's out of 34 releases. hardly 'legendary' status is it.
July 2, 200916 yr i think theres a habit of todays fans having a skewed view of what the past was REALLY like. by 1990 he had only had 3 #1's out of 34 releases. hardly 'legendary' status is it. To be fair though, he had sold bloody tankerloads of albums Rob.... No 1 singles hardly matter when you can sell about 50+ mil with one album in the space of a few years.... Mind you, it IS nonetheless quite odd that Jackson didn't get more No1s during his 80s peak it has to be said..... People were certainly buying the albums, but not the singles.....
July 2, 200916 yr ...and the rest Jark..... The point is, post-Bad, the PR spin machine became far more important than the music itself..... The people who bought Bad and Thriller were prob gonna buy "Dangerous" regardless (we didn't have internet streaming or leaks back then mate, so we couldn't tell whether to avoid a lemon.... ), the elaborate myth-making process became stronger as the music got weaker.... Off The Wall, Thriller and Bad were absolutely all about DA CHOONS man, 100%...... Dangerous and Invincible was about PR, his own mythology-creation and spin...... (Surprisingly) I disagree entirely. The media coverage regarding his appearance was less than positive and as you yourself have pointed out in this thread, some of the black community were less than pleased about the change in his skin colour. 'Bad' sold well because of both hype and it's own quality; Thriller had been brilliant enough for people to naturally want to check out the material that followed, and the Bad singles were some of his very best. 'Dangerous' only had one great single in my opinion but it sold so well because, again, it spawned big hit singles and probably because people were so impressed by 'Bad'. If you make great music, people will almost certainly keep checking for you which is what happened with those albums. As you know, the sales of 'HIStory' were down a good third on those of 'Dangerous'; perhaps the latter wasn't deemed strong enough to build as much hype? Then again, twenty million is nothing to be sniffed at. Basically what I'm saying is that the music would've sold just as well whether or not his private life was a bit of a circus because it was good.
July 2, 200916 yr Can I point something else out, Surely if he wanted to be white, he would've stopped during the late 80's/90's where he actually looked like a white man. His skin had a natural tone and his nose looked good. Surely, there would be no reason for him to continue to bleach his skin, and even if he did surely he would only do it the once? And not continue in doing so. Maybe, just maybe it is a disease, it certainly looks progressive. His skin as of the 21st Century is/was lighter than mine, and I'm born white. He looks/looked like a ghost, I'm pretty sure he didn't want that. I think it's just the makeup he uses (allegedly) to cover up his vitiligo. If you want, I can post pictures of where his skin (hands/chest/parts of face) is blotchy where his makeup hasn't been covered in right..

[/size] Which is basically what I said you prat.... "The people who bought Bad and Thriller were prob gonna buy "Dangerous" regardless" - read the post again..... HIStory suffered from a serious split personality, it didn't know whether it wanted to be a new album or a compilation.... And frankly, a lot of the new material was half-arsed.... Anyway, since when do "big sales" equate to quality tunes.....? It doesn't, the vast majority of his post-Bad output, IMO, is absolute rubbish in comparison to his 80s peak, you've pretty much agreed on that point yourself.... My arguement is that throughout the 90s the tunes became less important in comparison to the lifestyle and the hype machine, whereas in the 80s, we were only talking about Jackson's MUSIC as opposed to the increasingly bizarro lifestyle.... I dont want to be sold a "lifestyle", a mythology or a hype, I want the music to be the most important thing coming from a musician/songwriter, funnily enough.....
July 3, 200916 yr Anyway according to many websites he faked his death and is still alive. Possible. Think about it before dismissing it out of hand. He had huge debts and could get out of his O2 concerts and increase record sales to pay off his debts! When I look at that video this morning - of him dancing his little heart away - then one has to question the County Coronor's assessment of a 'frail emaciated man' with nothing in his stomach but pills. And if you find yourself questioning someone of the stature and 'honour' of a County Coronor - then I suppose anything is possible. Someone in this whole sorry affair is telling a few porkies! I mean - if a nobody from the north with a canoe can fake his own death for almost five years ... then surely it would be a mere trifle for someone of Jackson's means to achieve! I'm off to write a book now! July 3, 200916 yr Anyway according to many websites he faked his death and is still alive. Possible. Yeah, right Chris, he's on a desert Island having a tinnie with 2-Pac and Michael Hutchence, while Elvis cooks the barbecue and Jim Morrison lights a big Joint for them all to share.......

July 3, 200916 yr Author Okay, but what about his skin, you haven't answered that one. i like you, youre ok, you are inoffensive in your questioning. actually what i was suggesting that he has 'un negrified' himself by surgery, its too much of a co-incidence that his skin too miraculously also 'de - negrified' at the same time. of course i cant prove anything, blotches on the body?... dunno, nope i cant explain that away without more info. im not saying he definately bleached his skin, i just reckon he did, but this is just 1 more obscured topic surrounding this very shady individual...

At first I would have a good laugh (these 'he's not dead' stories are going to emerge sooner or later ... so let them commence now). However it isn't so unbelievable (this is good for my book). He could have someone to collect the money for him - he does have surviving family after all. Adding more intrique to my book - what about if one of the organisations he's 'in hock' to is the Mafia??? Good enough reason to fake a death and take on an 'assumed' identity and go off and live in ... Goole perhaps - nobody goes there anyway - even the cafes are shut in the lunchtime. And one can't hide the glaringly obvious truth that, as his dear daddy said 'he's worth much more now dead than alive'. Yes it is one of these 'Elvis Ain't Dead' kind of things - but at this moment in time (together with all the other $h!t that's surrounding this event) I'd put the idea on the back burner for a bit longer - but wouldn't turn the heat off altogether! And don't call anyone a prick! Not even Chris! Norma Edited July 3, 200916 yr by Norma_Snockers
July 3, 200916 yr Author ........ anyway, the 'king of pop'?... who fcukin says so? this is just 1 more bit of hype surrounding him that i detest. ok, he did some good songs, he sold loads of units, but so have many others who have also been far more influencial and creative.

July 3, 200916 yr yeah i know the stories will emerge, dispite the fact his body is lying on a mortuary slab... Well we know somebody's body is lying on a mortuary slab. By all accounts a bald, emaciated, 5'9", 8 stone 10 ounce, riddled with needle-marks and with a stomach full of pills. I do question who the f*ck was on that video then - because if the Coronor's assessment is correct - it is highly unlikely it was Michael Jackson. Back to reality - yes he is most certainly dead ... but loads of people involved in this are lying. Norma Edited July 3, 200916 yr by Norma_Snockers
