The OCC have said that 'Billie Jean', 'Thriller', & 'Man In The Mirror', are Selling well enough to

Chart again - to name but 3 Songs. (I guess The OCC mean in tomorrow's Chart).

I've been crunching some numbers, and I think MITM will fall short of the T10...

If you take the iTunes position as being equivalent to overall chart positions, then MITM was around #5 on Fri & #2 yesterday. 1/7th of the average weekly sale for #5 is 4.5k + 1/7th #2 is 8k, so a total of 12.5k over the two days, plus 0.5k for background sales, gives 13k. That would only place him in the high teens.

Even if you allow an extra 20% from the other versions of the song, it would only place him in the low teens.

On that basis, I'll predict he'll chart at #12-14 today.

Whatever happens in today's UK Charts - Singles & Albums - the main thing to keep in mind, is

that it will be based on 2 Days Sales - Friday & Saturday. It is next Sunday's Chart - 5th July -

which will show the most impact, as that will have Sunday 28th June to Saturday 4th July

Sales in it - a full Week.

Indeed, I was about to say that.

I hope Rock With You can rechart here, it's his highest song in iTunes US.

Isn't Man In The Mirror #1 on iTunes there?

I hope MITM gets #1 here, it's now #1 on iTunes with the three top 100 versions combined, and then there are two more versions lower down :cheer:

Oh, second maybe. It was high anyway.

Are we looking at the same chart?

'Man In The Mirror' is #1 on US iTunes, and 'Rock With You' is #15.

He has 8 songs in the Top 10 alone :o (pop bars here).

I was thinking of The Way You Make Me Feel

Here is a Link to an Article, in the UK 'Paper

'The Telegraph', regarding MJ's Top 6 Best Selling

Albums - Global Totals.

As you can see, the Media are simply going to

Wikipedia, & copying from there, that 'Thriller' has

sold 109 Million - which is a hugely inflated

figure. And 'HIStory' is given 40 Million Sales,

because it sold 20 Million, & they increase that by

20 Million more, because it was a Double Album.

Well, it would take time to prepare and MJ had the O2 booked between July 13th-September 29th and January 7th-March 6th so later in 2009/2010 sounds about right.

Apparently Beyonce, Paul McCartney, 3T, Justin Timberlake, Diana Ross, Leona Lewis and Usher are all being lined-up for a benefit gig (according to The Sun)

I would be surprised if there wasn't at least one Michael Jackson related event at the O2 during his scheduled run. It might not be the only event and it might not be possible to include all of the big stars, but I bet there will be something. The O2 themselves will be pushing to get something to fill the gap and there will be demand. Even if they can't get the biggest possible names, I'm sure there won't be any shortage of famous names who would want to sing a Michael Jackson song in a tribute concert and get some dance groups like Diversity in to do a few dance routines.

In fact, I fully expect there to be tribute events cropping up all over the world, and on tv for some time to come.

Excellent news! I bought "Number Ones" on Thursday and I haven't stopped playing it. It doesn't have some of his other hits, but I'm on it. I heard that he might get next weeks UK number one single :o That would be so cool!

Next week's #1 single looks like a race between Michael Jackson and Cascada and Jamie T. I can't see La Roux holding.

If Cascada do get #1, I will be very annoyed...

I wouldn't mind what happens. but It'll have been ages since Michael Jackson got into the top 3

It would be somewhat amusing out of all the artists that stop Michael Jackson getting to #01, it'd be Cascada.
I wish MITM would get number one over here. IIRC it only got to #21 in uk. I also hope thriller could beat it's own underwhelming peak but not many people have been downloading that compared to MITM. But then again there are several versions on itunes top 100
