Chart commentary: During the 70s and 80s, one of the highlights of the BBC's coverage of the Wimbledon tennis fortnight was the pop montage at the end. A selection of exciting and amusing clips from that year's tournament would be set to one of the pop hits of the day. Particularly memorable ones were 1983's 'Every Breath You Take' and 1985's 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World'.

Now, in 2009, we are treated to a new BBC montage every night, and this week's chart certainly reflects this year's BBC Wimbldeon effect.

Up an amazing twenty places, after being featured on a Wimbledon montage, La Roux, who recently reached number two with her debut 'In For The Kill', shoots to number one in the new chart with 'Bulletproof'. 'Winter Hill' by Doves drops to two after two weeks at the top, and the Freemasons collaboration with Sophie Ellis Bextor, 'Heartbreak, Make Me A Dancer', also drops one place to two, making was for La Roux's infectious chart-topper.

And the BBC Wimbledon effect doesn't end there. Up sixteen places to number six is 'Stone Cold Sober' by Paloma Faith, and '15 Minutes' by The Yeah You's climbs fifteen to number eight, having both been featured as closing numbers on Wimbledon coverage this week.

So a lot of movement in today's chart. The regular influx of random 70sness from downloads sees Daryl Hall and John Oates climb to four with 'Back Together Again', while Cerrone's Eurodisco hit continues its climb up the top ten at seven.

But the highest new entry is entirely predictable as a result of the tragic death of Michael Jackson - 'Show You The Way To Go', a number one hit in 1977, is the most popular of the Jackson songs in this chart, entering today at thirteen.

Further new entries come from Roisin Murphy at 14, with a two year old track that again has re-emerged through downloads, and also Cascada, who topped the chart with her first hit three years ago, and whose 'Evacuate The Dancefloor' comes in at sixteen.

Watch out also for further progress from Veronicas, who climb nine places to eleven with 'Untouched'.

Even without the tennis exposure, though, La Roux's song would have been a likely number one contender, and after such a strong surge to the top, it could well become the song of Summer 2009.
