He is joined by his cleverest and most strong-minded companion yet, Adelaide, played by acclaimed British actress Lindsay Duncan. Adelaide is head of the Mars Base and doesn't take kindly to an uninvited appearance by The Doctor. Peter O'Brien, star of Neighbours, Flying Doctors and Casualty, also guest stars as Ed, Adelaide's second in command. The Waters Of Mars is written by Russell T Davies and Phil Ford and is directed by Graeme Harper. Brand new clip released. July 9, 200916 yr Lindsay Duncan....?? :o I'm surprised the beeb can afford her wages tbh......
July 9, 200916 yr Please let this be better than the easter one and the last xmas one which were both awful!
July 9, 200916 yr Author Totally agree on Xmas :puke2: but I loved Easter  This looks like a good scary episode though! Apparently it leads nicely into the two-parter without making it a 3-parter if that makes sense!
July 11, 200916 yr Apparently it leads nicely into the two-parter without making it a 3-parter if that makes sense! Makes total sense.... It's a "lead in" or a bridgeing episode..... They did the same with "Utopia" in series three if you recall, when you had the old Professor who turned out to be The Master, which led into the "Sound of Drums" two parter.....
July 11, 200916 yr Looks better than the Easter special Well, it sure couldn't be much worse..... Oh, actually, it could, the Christmas 2007/8 specials absolutely SUCKED......
July 11, 200916 yr I'm looking forward to this! I didn't like the last Christmas special and the Easter one with Michelle Ryan was OK. I want a return to form though please!
July 12, 200916 yr Lindsay Duncan....?? :o I'm surprised the beeb can afford her wages tbh...... You missed the acclaimed BBC2 drama Margaret earlier this year then...
July 13, 200916 yr You missed the acclaimed BBC2 drama Margaret earlier this year then... Made by an external production company though mate..... ;)
July 26, 200916 yr Author Live updates from the Comic-Con DW panel: All about the final 3 specials: 10.13am: The moderator brings up the possibility of a movie. Julie Gardner says that there is not going to be any announcement about a Who movie. "But what it's made us think is that it might be a good idea to do it at some point. Is this something you want?" Huge cheers. 10.16am: Cut to brief preview reel of clips from David's final episodes as the Doctor. A voiceover mentions "bad dreams". Shots of Wilfred and Donna, and a man wearing a black hood. "His name is the master," says the voiceover and John Simm is revealed (with blond hair). "He returns". Final caption says: "The end of time. Christmas 2009." 10.36am: Euros recalls scoring the final episode with Murray, who apparently started "sobbing uncontrollably" when they got to the final 20 minutes. JG adds: "There was a lot of crying when we shot the final episodes. The crew were really moved by it. There were so many goodbyes." 10.39am: Question about if, like John Barrowman, they have stolen anything from set. JG replies: "I think the only reason John Barrowman stole things from set is so he could be strip-searched on the way out." 10.40am: DT reveals: "There's a sequence in the final episode where one of the jackets gets slightly compromised." 10.41am: DT asked if he would consider coming back for charity specials or similar. "Who knows? The dust has to settle. But it's the fiftieth anniversary in 2013, isn't it?" 10.42am: Question from a delightful English lady asking if they have a favourite assistant character (not actress). "Pick Rose!" chant audience members. "One of the things I haven't done before leaving the show is I didn't get to snog Bernard Cribbins." 10.43am: DT asked if he would ever return as The Other Doctor: "There are no plans, but anything can happen." 10.44am: DT asked his favourite Who moment, from a fan's perspective. "When I started, the very first read-through, we read Xmas Invasion, School Reunion and New Earth all at once. Terrifying." He jokes that he thought he might be fired at any moment. "I caught Jimmy Nesbitt out of the corner of my eye at the coffee machine," he quips. "But still, being called The Doctor by Sarah Jane was quite special." 10.46am: RTD reveals that the episode of SJA guest starring the Doctor will be called 'The Wedding Of Sarah Jane Smith'. (It's a two-parter) 10.56am: DT asks EL who was better, him or Christopher Eccleston. "It's you David," he replies. 10.57am: Question if River Song is coming back. DT: "It's not on our watch any more." JG: "We are now just happy viewers to season five now" RTD adds: "I think if you go online and do a little search for River Song you might be very happy. Apparently." He means Digital Spy, of course. 10.58am: RTD says the voiceover man from the clip we saw was Timothy Dalton. DT adds: "John Simm's coming back though, eh?" 10.59am: DT asked for words of wisdom for Matt Smith. Reply: "I've chatted to Matt a couple times and he's very enthused and quite clearly going to be brilliant. Which is annoying. He's such a talent, there is nobody in Britain who has worked with Matt who doesn't rave about him. They have nothing but praise to lavish on him, so I don't think he needs any advice from me really." 11.00am: DT realises that JG is filming him. RTD says it's for a future episode of Doctor Who Confidential that they've been filming all weekend. 11.01am: An 11-year-old girl gets to ask the final question. Bitch. I'm joking! She asks if DT were a real teacher, what would he teach and why? "I have absolutely no idea," he replies. Lots of suggestions from the audience. "The only subject I was really good at at school was English. My set texts would be anything by Russell T Davies." 11.03am: A bonus preview clip from The Waters Of Mars. Fast paced. The Doctor: "Certain moments in time are fixed. This place on Mars, what happens here, must always happen." Lindsay Duncan: "Don't even touch it, not one drop." And thats it - TORCHWOOD panel coming later :cheer:
July 26, 200916 yr Author We also saw a trailer for "Waters Of Mars," the following story, which looks to be considerably darker. We see images of a Martian base, with lots of somewhat primitive Earth tech including flashing buttons. The base is sort of cross-shaped, with modules sticking out at various points. The Doctor says, "Certain moments in time are fixed. Everything else is in flux. Anything can happen. But there are certain moments that must stand." We see images of the people in the Mars base going about their business, and then the weird water zombie thing starts, with people turning into water and getting the scabby reptilian faces. "This time and place on Mars, what happens here, must not be changed," the Doctor adds. And then we see more of the watery monster panic. And then the Doctor, in a different scene, explains that whatever this thing is, it doesn't just hide in water — it creates water. And if the humans take it back to Earth, it's all over. "Any one of us could be infected," says a blonde woman. More scenes of chaos and havoc as the base starts to fall apart. And then the Doctor stands in his orange spacesuit (from "The Satan Pit") with flames behind him. In his most dramatic voice, he says to the blonde woman, "It doesn't end here and now — because I don't hear anyone knocking, do you?" And then there are four brutal, loud knocks. And the titles say "THE WATERS OF MARS." And then there was the trailer for Tennant's final two-parter, which appears to be called "The End Of Time": We see the planet Earth from space, with the sun coming out behind it, and Timothy Dalton's voice purrs: "It is said that in the final days of the planet Earth, everyone had bad dreams." And then we see weird laughing faces, followed by David Tennant looking quite perturbed. We see glimpses of Wilf, Donna, Donna's mother, and an African man in a suit, all looking very serious. And there's a scary snake-faced creature. And then there's a figure in a dark hoodie lurking ominously. Dalton narrates: "He returns." We catch a glimpse of Ood Sigma, the Ood who told the Doctor his song was ending. And then the Doctor standing in the background, with the guy in a hoodie in the foreground. And then the hoodie comes off, and it's John Simm with his hair weirdly bleached! His voice comes: "My name is the Master." And then a title comes on the screen: "THE END OF TIME." And the Doctor walks forward with flames in the background, his face looking smoky and serious. And the title says "CHRISTMAS 2009." And the crowd goes wild. The Doctor Who panel was more fun than informative, as it really should be. David Tennant had a huge standing ovation, and people in the crowd were shouting "WE LOVE YOU!!" at regular intervals. At one point, Tennant responded "We love you too. Each one of you in a slightly different, individual way. We want you to know that." Russell T. Davies did confirm that Lucy Saxon, the Master's long-suffering wife, will be back in the final episodes, alongside Simms. And the words "He will knock four times" have a great significance. And Tennant alluded to something bad that happens to the Doctor's jacket in one of the last scenes he shot. Lucy is back too :o Finally we'll get an answer to who picked up that bloody ring! :cheer:

July 27, 200916 yr Massacres and havoc on a Mars base...? Weird, "zombie" type things...? Humans being taken over and having their bodies manipulated and morphed into nasty things....? Sounds a bit "Doom 3" actually...... Doubt we'll see the Doc with a massive BFG or Rail Gun though......
